  1. Prices fluctuate all the time. All the price lists I've had quickly become innacurate. But you can get the most up to date prices by searching completed items on ebay. -Paul
  2. My advice is to just pay $25-$35 a year and get proper hosting. I work on an art site called Palfloat, and we tried several free no-banner sites, and they all sucked in one way or another. We are currently using netidentity.com, but their prices are getting a little high, so we're switching to www.sevaa.com soon. -Paul [ 04-22-2002: Message edited by: Smart Patrol ]
  3. Rarest was definately Bristles and Flip&Flop carts for Atari 800 still sealed. Not nearly as rare but: BeatemEatem for $1, Slurpy for Colecovision for $1, 99 4/A Flyer for TI for 15 cents. -Paul
  4. There is a guy at my friend's work who offered to give me an original Apple Lisa and NeXT computer. He's been forgetting for about 6 months now. Hope you have better luck than me! -Paul
  5. 1) Auto Racing (fun with 2 players) 2) Burgertime 3) Loco-Motion (great puzzle game) I've also heard Utopia is really cool (like an early Sim game), but I just recently got the manual and haven't had time to learn it yet. -Paul
  6. Alice In Wonderland was released by Windham Classics and it's a platform adventure game (with save feature) that uses the same engine as Below the Root. It's a really great game too. I don't have an original for trade, but I could probably find a pirated version on the net and put it on a C64 disk. -Paul

    Why MIB??

Jahfish: One box from each company is a great idea. I might start doing that myself. Boxes are cool, but I just don't have the space or money to collect them all. -Paul
  8. I also have Tuner Cleaner to fix paddles, which I also use for cleaning contacts and switches. It seems like it works a little better than rubbing alcohol. And I have Armor All for shine. I need to get an air-duster. -Paul
  9. It's not quite fair, but SM64 is my favorite. But of the 2D ones I'd say Super Mario World on SNES with Super Mario 3 next. -Paul
  10. It would be kind of cool to hack River Raid (and some other games) so there's an ending. Like after you pass a certain number of bridges, you come to a base and land and then the credits roll. Maybe even add a title screen and fancier game select UI. Purists might be offended, but I think it would be kind of fun. -Paul

It's not exactly 60 fps. I can't remember exactly what it is, but if you look up the exact clock speed and figure out the number of cycles per frame, you can figure out the value. Also, I think the tempos should correspond to two Synthcart tempos (I'm not sure which two, but it should be easy to figure out) which you will find in the manual. Synthcart Manual -Paul
  12. You could do some sort of matrix screen thing with the Stellar Track text kernal. Thomas: Does River Raid have an end? -Paul
  13. Consider that in the early 80's game companies were selling games for about the same price. And many companies then that sold MANY more units than homebrewers do today still went out of business. I sell my cartridges for $30, and I've done rough estimates of time spent versus money made. I figured out that I would make MUCH better money per hour flipping burgers. I charge what I need to in order to make it feasible for me to continue doing it. I have no idea how Randy makes 2k/4k carts for $11. But then again, he's said that sometimes his books are in the red. I can't afford to be in the red. -paul
  14. I had an idea: There are two transactions still visible on his account history. You could e-mail one of the two people this person dealt with before and see if the e-mail, name, and address are consistent. If the account has somehow been hijacked then they will have been changed. -Paul
  15. You're probably going to the giant flea market at Canton. I went there once and didn't have any luck, but I went too late in the day and many of the shops had already closed. Also, I went to the nicer shops in the barn-things first, but most of the stuff in there was antiques and new stuff. It appeared that the junk dealers that were more likely to have Atari stuff were on the other side in more makeshift lots. I saw one box of Atari stuff but is was all common and water damaged. I live in Dallas and I've always had the best luck at thift stores -- mainly east Dallas and Oak Cliff. Goodwills and Salvation Armys in Dallas pretty much never have anything good. Maybe Goodwill sends the good stuff to Austin for Goodwill Computerwerks! That place is great. -Paul
  16. Really cool. I liked reading about your Rastan hacks too. I love Rastan. -Paul
  17. I'll join in... I think all three systems are great, but I have a Gamecube because I like Nintendo games. I just can't wait for Mario Sunshine, new Mario Cart, Donkey Kong racing, etc. Currently I've got Monkey Ball, Extreme G Racing, Rogue, Pikmin, and SSX Tricky. All fabulous games. Although I must say that while I do enjoy Rogue I think it's the weaker of the bunch, which is odd since everyone else seems to think it's the best. Well I got it for free anyway. My friend just got an X-Box and of course we're going through Halo, which is a seriously amazing game. And I've noticed that like the other systems, the X-Box certainly has it's own share of framerate problems at times. And although I haven't played it as much, I love what I've played of PS2 games. If I had the money I'd get one of those too so I could play FFX, Turismo, Grand Theft Auto, etc. One thing I don't understand is playing Nintendo off as making systems for kids. I'm an adult and I LIKE games that have cartoon like characters-like Mario and Zelda. And the games are certainly as challenging as the "adult" games. Try getting all the stars on Tick Tock Clock! Why are guns and blood a requirement for an enjoyable game for adults? -Paul
  18. I was cleaning out my car today and I found a few Good Luck Charlie Brown prototypes, so maybe we can work out a trade? -Paul
  19. That is REALLY cool. Spike had mentioned this to me in an e-mail and I thought he was joking! -Paul
  20. Thanks for adding Combat Rock to the hacks. But you also have me listed as doing the awesome Galaxian hack. Manuel (Cybergoth) did that one. -Paul
  21. I don't think there is a Styx game. Although she may be confused since for some reason there are robots in Journey Escape. But all this does give me an idea for a hack... -Paul
  22. Try cleaning the contacts on the cartridge with a q-tip and rubbing alcohol. -Paul
  23. I was thinking you could spray a Q-Tip with some silicone spray, then push the dust cover all the way in and swab around the inside of the cart. Then work the dust cover in and out a bit. Maybe repeat the process twice. Don't know if it'll work but it's worth a try. -Paul
  24. When I assemble cartridges, I clean the dust cover with a cloth that's been sprayed with plastic-safe silicone lubricant. I wonder if this might help? The first few Synthcarts I assembled had the same problem you're having, and it was because a capacitor on the board was catching the dust cover. It only happened on 4 or 6 switches -- not on Jrs. I solved it by folding the capacitor down on each board. Vault Assault would use a different board since it's only 4k, but I wonder if it might be a similar problem? -Paul
  25. How about the shipping on this one? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=1341836302 -Paul
