  1. I was thinking it was just somebody at Atari as a jab at naysayers who previously said there were no memory slots on the board. Maybe they were drunk posting? And then they or Atari's lawyer decided it wasn't such a good idea and took it down. It was only up for about 6 hours. But the theory about Rob Wyatt having the board is interesting too.
  2. Here it is, so apparently they're just going to say nothing and keep kicking the can down the road. The wording seems pretty telling "we have no intention of letting you down".
  3. AtariOS is nothing more than Linux with a custom boot logo
  4. Also for context, they hadn't posted in 3 weeks and they only responded to the first two posts and ignored all the other questions. At this point, this non-response basically straight up confirms that a delay is the best that anyone can hope for. It looks like their lawyer is telling them that they can't say the project is on track anymore.
  5. Meanwhile "Atari" is still able to get some press outlets to regurgitate their press releases without bothering to look into anything: https://www.gamespot.com/articles/atari-vcs-retro-console-pre-orders-now-available/1100-6467719/ https://happygamer.com/new-atari-vcs-400-and-atari-vcs-800-consoles-to-be-available-in-march-2020-40250/ It's about time for The Register and other press and Youtubers to start putting the pressure on again.
  6. I watched it with the sound on, and it's a bit bizarre that he doesn't mention the Atari VCS at all. The main question that they asked is "how is Atari staying relevant", but he just talks vaguely about putting out casual games on as many platforms as possible.
  7. I'm kinda surprised Atari didn't scrounge up something to post this morning. The silence is becoming totally absurd at this point.
  8. Anybody else catch this? Somebody posted a picture of the back side of the AtariVCS board to the unofficial AtariVCS subreddit where you could see the memory slots, but then it was deleted. Unfortunately I was busy and intended to download the image later, but it was deleted when I checked back. It did legitimately look like the back of the AtariVCS board and I couldn't find the same image on their medium post or anywhere else. Nothing was hooked up, it was just the board. https://snew.notabug.io/r/AtariVCS/comments/dwumbi/backside_of_vcs_circuit_board/
  9. We have an update! 1) Fred gave Wozniak a Speaker Hat. 2) The AtariVCS is mentioned only one time in passing, most of the time is spent talking about organizing e-sports, the speaker hat, and Star Wars. 3) Fred's holiday gift guide attached below.
  10. This press release was just posted on Reddit: http://www.globenewswire.com/news-release/2019/09/30/1922211/0/en/Atari-Partners-With-Antstream-Arcade-to-Deliver-Thousands-of-Retro-Games-to-Atari-Vcs-Video-Computer-System.html
  11. When this inevitably all comes crashing down, I'm sure a lot of angry people will be distributing Retropie images with Atari's IP for the backers who got stiffed. It's funny that a lot of backers will probably end up just having what was in the fake AtariVCS videos.
  12. Got it, yeah it's not in that capture either. I definitely don't trust Atari at all, but it's pretty damning so I just wanted to make sure I had my facts straight before I repeat it.
  13. I think that text was added to the Indiegogo page recently. I don't find it on archived versions of the page.
  14. They already deleted the links to the Register and that other article in the Facebook comments.
  15. FYI their Twitter scheduler posted a "Check out our new community!" link to their subreddit today at 9am that was deleted by the time I checked again 30 minutes later. So they're aware, but perhaps talking to their lawyer right now...
  16. Whoa, it's pretty much over! They don't have enough money or orders to continue. This was sent out over email?
  17. Did they delete this post? Their most recent Facebook post that I can see is the one from yesterday that's a link to their website.
  18. Not sure if it would affect revenue too much, but I'd like it if it sometimes showed ads for the new releases in the Atariage store. It would also be cool if you could seek out well-targeted sponsors like the Amico. If you can steer the ad content to be more like a retrogaming news feed then people will probably be more likely to leave the adblocker off. Another strategy could be to focus on well-targeted/curated Amazon referral links for retrogamers: Raspberry Pi kits, good USB joysticks, the 2600 portable, etc.
  19. Apparently we interpreted "summer" too rigidly. Despite endless complaints about the lack of promised updates on all of Atari's social media today, this is the only response they posted anywhere. For about the last month Atari has quit giving any meaningful information at all. They were still at least promising things before that, but it seems like they're now in full cover-your-ass mode. All they would have to say right now is that they'll have a big update in a week and it would at least calm people down. Seems like this is about to fully unravel.
  20. They just deleted that Reddit post without an answer. Edit, you guys beat me to it.
  21. As someone on Reddit pointed out, it's more than twice the resolution of the Atari 2600 (400x450 vs 160x192). It's also a pixel perfect screenshot which would require dumping the ROM (clearly not a photo taken with a tablet). Seems fake to me. If it is somehow real, it's probably just a homebrew that somebody was working on, but I don't think it's remotely possible to double the 2600's horizontal resolution. It's funny how these fake discovery threads have come up so many times over the years. edit: Also, OP's only previous posts are a thread asking how to acquire reproduction cartridges
  22. Yeah, I don't see them at thrifts anymore either. I still shop at thrifts for clothes, but I've barely seen any for a long time. I probably haven't found a 2600 cartridge I don't have in 10 years.
  23. Great tips, the paper conservator who told me about archival PVAs also showed me how to make wheat paste, but non-reversible PVA is okay for most of the repairs I make (boxes, labels, etc.) I also sometimes have used gummed archival tape that is reversible with water.
