  1. I don't think its so much about hate as just constant disappointment i have disliked every nintendo console starting with the gamecube all of the systems have had some great a list games but not many I think the only game on the gamecube I can still play without getting bored fast is Mario sunshine and maybe a Zelda game the wii is just a gamecube overclocked and added motion controls so again small selection of great games then so much fluff crap that its hard to even think the motion controls were the best out of all that gen systems but again not perfect the only thing that has redeemed the wii is its ability to be a new gen og xbox with its ability to run emulators wii u ugg its ok has some really great games what like 2 (well ok 3) almost everything being a remake of wii / gamecube game again a lack luster line up of games and it didn't help its called the wii u for marketing most just thought of it as a upgraded wii (in lines with what xbox and sony were doing with the ps3 slim and xbox 360 s ) the only reason I have a wii u is I got one for 80$ on trade and you can hack the holy crap out of it (oh and I refuse to buy a switch for breath of the wild ) the switch again under power funny niche console woo its a portable woo its a home console woooo what a great new idea wait hmm NVidia shield! or hmm jxd s7800 / gpd q9 I wanted to like the switch but 300$ for a console that has no games included and a lack luster selection of launch titles on top of the carts not even containing the full games so you have to have internet to download the updates from the marketing I feel like if I bought one I would need to grow a twisty mustache and wear my hair in a man bun ill buy one when they are under 100$ as much as I sound like a Nintendo hater I really wanted to love all the above consoles but Nintendo has really made it hard I own pretty much every Nintendo console us and japan (not the switch not going to happen ) ,excpt some stupid big stuff like the famibox and sharp tv and consider myself a Nintendo fan (the consoles are good in their own way but compared to the other options at the times just such a let down ) if Nintendo does not want to go the way of sega they really need to give us a real current gen competitor ,and not some funky niche console that appeals only to fanboys and manbun wearing yuppies give us power give us new games not the same crap with a shinny new skin would really like to see a Metroid prime game with good solid controls (bungie please make a Metroid game lol)
  2. just about finished fixing my neo geo x last night lol awhile ago I bought this kit https://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Raspberry-PI-3-Cables-set-for-NEOGEO-X-Dock-Station/282742963612?hash=item41d4cb3d9c:g:gw0AAOSwnw9aFIat and have been running a pre built 32 retro pie image yesterday I decided to go ahead and do it right dug out a 200 gb sd from my parts bins and got to work still have to ad some more games and scrape more artwork but at least now the neo geo x is a useable game system I had high hopes for the x when it was released but they really screwed up the joysticks and the emulation was not any better than a pi https://youtu.be/puSUWL5vKIk
  3. almost looks like a megatouch max motherboard but its not what chipset does it use might be compatible http://www.davemanut.com/maxxmb2.jpg I have a big stack of the max / diamond series motherboards here
  4. I already posted this in the recent purchase thread but thought you all would get a kick out of it here 10$ at a junk shop for this a Walmart store display for a knex rollercoaster my little guys love it https://youtu.be/wCw8-YfrK0k
  5. nothings trash until its a bare pcb being in the arcade repair biz I have to save everything (never know when ill need some obscure chip to fix someone's game) as soon as i toss , give away something i get someone coming in the shop needing it uggg! lol my rule is try and fix it with minimal cost (usually do) if I cant fix it then it goes into the parts bins sucks I have sooo much arcade ,and modern console stuff so I can almost always scavenge the parts I need to fix things but 8bit and classic computer stuff kills me i just started messing with it and so I'm at that point of buying complete broken consoles for parts , and then ending up fixing the parts machines lol I'm fighting right now i need some 2732 eproms for burning demon attack for the trash 80 , and every one i have scavenged so far wont blank (might need a new eraser ive had this one for a long time )
  6. got mine wife had to got to target for party stuff for my 3yr olds birthday on Sunday so I asked her to get one they are not out yet at our target but she asked them to get one from the back and they did (we got the first one from our store they had to open a case to get it ) love my wife lol like others have stated its not the apple version and not either of the commodore 64 versions I have not played the ibm version but it seems to me that its the apple version with custom sounds (sounds seem added ) EDIT: it seems it is the dos version it uses the same color scheme and this https://youtu.be/3Bgs9jfSo9k
  7. agree the donkey kong is pretty bad lol but hey its donkey kong gotta keep it (out of all my systems it might be the worst one lol) my collection http://atariage.com/forums/topic/274798-discgolfer72s-gameroom/ once I get the Atari ports installed I'm def looking into one of the multi/flash carts to play all the games just needed a few boxed games for display with the system I didn't mind the space shooters astro smash seemed to control the best , but the fire rate made it hard to keep up demon attack is great compared to the Atari version (love the faster fire rate/gameplay ) at least it has a boss battle lol but I still like the trs-80 version the best
  8. yea I know got lucky and no other bids lol tried it not worth getting the speech module just for it lol just finished playing them all every single one worked great but most of the games to me are just not playable the intellivision controller is just had cramp city I'm keeping 9 the rest are going to my store so someone else without arthritis can enjoy them keeping lockn chase astrosmash donkey kong loco motion bowling poker and black jack space hawk demon attack the others were just to hard to play I'm going to end up modding this intellivision with Atari ports so I can actually enjoy the games
  9. so is it bad that as I opened this box I got a bit aroused lol picked up a intellivision a bit ago in a huge lot of broken /untested consoles it worked without any trouble (did have to clean the controller's) so decided to start my intellivision collection grabbed this lot on feepay for 10$ + shipping I wanted demon attack the rest is a bonus lol almost all have the manuals and overlays think all have overlays and 4-5 missing manuals
  10. had some great weather today so made my rounds to all the junk stores / thrift stores / antique malls didn't find a lot but got several deals got my lil guy a leap pad 3, for 4$ with games (nice thing is they can be hacked and install all kinds of .sfw flash games), now no more fighting lol (his big brother has one already ) his older brother (turning 3 this week ) got the mother load a k'nex roller coaster store display from Walmart got it at an antique mall for only 10$ it needs new plexi glass and the motor was bad (already fixed the motor ) boy was he happy lol think I got 200 hugs before his bedtime lol https://youtu.be/wCw8-YfrK0k the fun part is going to be finding a place in the game room for it , the thing is huge (the grey chairs behind it are full bar height ) not much luck for myself found a radio shack amplified video selector (5 coax inputs , 3 coax outputs ) for only 3$ so now I can have all my coax only systems switched everything els was a bust no classic games , and all the vintage train gear was junk or over priced
  11. unless they say sanwa , happ , or seimitsu brand sticks /buttons id stay away almost all the ones I came across said sanwa "style" in the listing (someone may be building some with better parts tho ) that means they are going to have some sort of zippy or zippy clone stick inside (on a side note all the ones we got in came with 2 extra start buttons packaged as spares for some reason lol) a quick search on ebay I found the kit to build your own but I found them on wish for around 60$ without the fancy plastic shell(had to order a few to fix the ones our customers bought ) https://www.ebay.com/itm/1299-in-1-JAMMA-PCB-Pandoras-Key-Box-5s-Arcade-Multigame-Board-PCB-With-Cable/253391998966?hash=item3aff570ff6:g:M00AAOSwPOhabHXl
  12. I cant say much about the first one, but the ones I stocked at Christmas were the second link (but the 999 in 1 version ) if you think the x - arcade controls are sub par then don't even think about it lol the joysticks are a inferior knock of of the zippy sticks (didn't think you could get worse than zippy lol) pretty sloppy and feel like my 2 year old could break them and the buttons are mushy sanwa clones next the pcb is pretty bad we had 2 that for some reason ended up always pressing up (this was in the pcb not wiring or software as the problem would follow the pcb ) and all of these china machine use the same pcb (if you want to play with one they sell them (pcb) on wish for 60$ and you can build your own panel ) we deal with the jamma based Pandora's box in my shop all the time and they are actually not to bad overall (emulation is hit or miss depending on the game ) if I remember correct they are built on some arm based prototype board(actually a bootleg of it) and custom jamma interface but the boards used in these all in one panels are like a 3 times knocked off device lol and actually are called Pandora's key on the boot screen the biggest problem is the software/hardware mix there seems to be a very big chance that the sd card gets corrupted and you end up with the green screen of death the only way to fix it is to have a backup of your original sd card the green screen can happen during turning off the machine but seems that it happens 90% of the time involving the favorites list creation (add a game to favorites bam next reboot green screen ) as I said they are what they are a cheap instant way to play a few arcade games at home for someone that does not want /know how to build their own for the price meh not to bad as long as you get one without fan or pcb problems (just make sure to backup the sd card first thing) but for a little bit more you can buy a used x-arcade on ebay, swap out the buttons/sticks with quality happ or sanwa parts, slap in a pi and end up with a 100 times better experience
  13. if you mean the Pandora’s key (the units that are a control panel with joysticks) , not the Pandora’s box (a jamma pcb for use in a jamma arcade cabinet) then they are not great i sold a few in my store at Christmas time and so far all but 2 have come back with problems joysticks breaking software getting corrupted and the most common so far is the stupid cooling fan breaks and gets noisy for 150$ they are what they are a cheap way to get a crap ton of games and a basic control panel they are the equivalent of shoving a bad multibaord into a cheap xbox 360 fight stick low quality joysticks and buttons and emulation that’s ok at best if i had one i would swap the parts for good sanwa sticks and buttons and rewire it with a blue elf of even a real Pandora’s box (not the bootleg version they come with ) me i i bought one of these https://www.ebay.com/itm/Arcade-Jamma-Supergun-RetroelectroniK-the-most-polyvalent/152235391790?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649 im lucky and have a tv with scart but you can always buy something like this as well https://www.ebay.com/itm/SCART-HDMI-To-HDMI-HD-Video-Converter-Box-720P-1080P-3-5mm-Coaxial-Audio-Out/282801509508?hash=item41d8489484:m:m_rTTskkdoVsWBlmS3mtTWw and then play all the games with a nice neo geo stick or build a nice arcade panel even the soso x arcade is a better option https://shop.xgaming.com/collections/arcade-joysticks/products/x-arcade-dual-joystick-usb-included
  14. thanks guys a picked some controller ports and the cpu up on feepay for under 20$ for everything they showed up yesterday sat down today and replaced the ports and installed the new chip bam works like a champ https://youtu.be/7x9Ls1PmpfQ
  15. how about partial cheese just stole the keyboard from this one to fix the one above it its interesting how only the left side aged to a dark gouda while the rest stayed a mellow Swiss
  16. don't think I was ever on wonderland lol as far a how its all hooked up its crazy lol ps2 , original xbox ,wii , and sony psx desr and ps1 are all hooked to my 55 inch Toshiba by component using a component switch box (ps1 is plugged into the psx desr's composite input) I also have a y cable on the output of the component switchbox that runs to a separate switch box connected to my legato capture device av famicom, snes , n64 , game cube , dream cast , Saturn , 3do ,and Sega genesis are connected to the 55 inch Toshiba using 2 , 4 port composite switch boxes that are connected with a y cable so they function as 1 (tv only has one composite input ) the output on that is also split out to my capture device switch box all the hdmi stuff goes straight to my tv (360 , neo geo x , wii u ) I do want to get an hdmi switch box for them so I can run all of them into my hd60 elgato for capture also then for the computer stuff the ti99 , apple //e , commodore 64 , vic-20 , and Atari 800xl all connect to a composite switch box that goes into my vcr then out to the 32 inch European sony tv the vcr also has a y cable so its composite av output goes to my capture card as well I'm kind of stuck on the rf only systems I tried using a composite switch box to connect them all but it caused so much video noise that it was not usable so for now I manually have to switch them out they are all connected to the vcr ant input and its a daisy chain mess lol had to hook the Atari 5200 switch box direct to the vcr ant then connect the nintnedo rf box to the Atari 5200's ant coco 2 , Atari 2600, intellivision , Atari 400 all connect manually to the ant input of the nintnedo switch box using a rf adapter I will probably end up daisy chaining some y splitters so I can have everything connected at 1 time for the rf stuff oh cant forget the neo geo mvs is connected to the sony European tv using scart lol
  17. sooo lol added more 8 bit love lol after buying a intellivision and a Atari 5200 decided I might as well grab a 2600 and 400 from my store and just go crazy lol picked up a pair of cheap lack shelf units for 14$ each and bam! I'm almost at capacity. if I can find a place to put the carts that are on the lower shelf , I should be able to add a 7800 and a coleco
  18. thanks I bought a pair had to totally re do my 8 bit setup but now the working 5200 has a forever home lol had to add the shelving under my main desk it is great found it at ikea for 14$ a unit
  19. lol tried its better lol green screen with yellow bar on one side but def not a match lol dug thru all the arcade pcb in my store all are z80 or Motorola except 3 centipede boards an they all are 6502a uggggggggg lol made an order for a Atari 800 6502 that has the same part number so that should fix the machine just need to find some joystick ports (without having to steal them from another console )
  20. so after some searching that chip is the 6502 "hmmmm" as I eyeball a 6502a on a centipede arcade pcb what 6502 are compatible with the 5200
  21. I bought a final expansion 3 and I love it sd2iec , flash cart , and ram expansion all in one the only problem I have is I put to many games on it lol http://sleepingelephant.com/denial/wiki/index.php?title=Final_Expansion
  22. ok ended up with a 4 port with the * in the serial number in a lot of untested consoles (several intelvision and vic 20's) from what I understand this is a later model 4 port that should support the vcs adaptor am I correct (before I buy a vcs adaptor and sell my 2600) everything in the lot was untested but everything was working except the 5200 I had no way to test since it did not have a power brick or rf modulator box I also ended up buying a 5200 on ebay with power /rf controllers and games (pretty much bought the lot for the power brick and rf unit lol) problem is the first 5200 with serial # AT*3130193851 only booted to the green screen the second unit with serial# sv-402 0086681 worked but what the auction didn't list was that several pins on controller port 1 and 2 are missing so I can play pacman lol but any game that uses a button does not work really wanted to keep the AT*3130193851 machine (to use with the vcs adaptor )so i started swapping chips (also hate DE soldering and didn't want to swap controller ports) i found that the chip in attached pic was the bad chip are these available to purchase somewhere what chip is that also is there a source for replacement controller ports id like to save both consoles if i can also anyone have a link to the modifications needed to make the older 4 port work with the vcs adaptor
  23. lol no way I'm keeping mine I got it for a steal lol just watch ebay should be able to snag one use for 50-80$ just make sure it comes with the av cable found this one starting a .01 https://www.ebay.com/itm/Elgato-Game-Capture-HD-1080p-Great-Condition/253440738928?hash=item3b023ec670:g:WNUAAOSw5nxajKy2 ps this site helped me snag mine for cheap https://www.gixen.com/index.php
  24. search for mkloader then place the files of mkloader in each directory of your sd card then run the mkloader.exe in each folder that's it it makes the loader file based on the files in the directories mkloader https://mega.nz/#!dSwyhDhS!4mlWWSo1mysm_tu33RxLf74PDVkB2SHWtxa7xRmFBVI
