I agree that it sounds like the solder joints need a reflow. As long as you unplug the console before you start, it should be fine. Check the pins while you're at it to make sure they're not dirty, bent, or broken.

Don't know what happened but after testing it outside the shell it worked perfectly. Works fine now...?

That's often the case! no pun intended. Put it back in it fails. Take it out it passes. Reflow that solder!
