  1. Here's a version that's only 264 KB, and fits on most desktop & laptop screens without needing excessive scrolling, yet is still fully readable.
  2. It's the Best Electronics user-erasable version of Bugs Bunny on EPROM cart. Also self-erases if left in a lighted area for a long enough time. If you want it to last as long as possible, open it up and put some opaque stickers (such as metal foil tape) over those circular windows in the EPROM chips.
  3. Chris, you should seriously consider getting a mini-tripod. Several of those images suffer severely from camera motion.
  4. No conclusion has been reached in the RSC saga. But remember, the Air Raid box was reported to exist many years before the first example was revealed to us via the internet, and when we finally got to see it, almost everything in the original report turned out to be true.
  5. It all depends on the format and resolution. If it's 8 1/2 by 11 inches at 2400 dpi in .BMP format, there probably isn't a forum on the web that will let you upload an image file that big. Nobody has a monitor that can display it without scrolling all over the place either, even provided they have the patience to wait for it to download. But if you resize it to something reasonable, say no more than 1000 pixels in either dimension, and convert it to .JPG at a reasonable compression ratio, or .PNG, it should be just fine.
  6. Yeah, Red Sea Crossing definitely needs a sequel. It just feels like there's something "incomplete" about it whenever I finish that game.
  7. It should work as long as you are using atenna in. Did you tune you channel to 2, 3, or 4 on the TV? That is how I hook up my un-modded Atari consoles. Not necessarily. There are TVs being made now that no longer support analog NTSC RF input. Also, some flatscreens don't get along well with the VCS's non-interlaced output and blanking signal that is either absent or of non-standard duration (depending on the console). Passing the signal through a VCR or RF demodulator can help with all of these issues.
  8. There's no conversion; the data are the same -- it's just a difference in naming convention (.a26 was what one of the early emulator authors used, but .bin is the standard now.) When you burn the data to the EPROM, the filename isn't even used. However, a lot of older binaries out there are bad dumps or otherwise corrupt. My advice would be to get Rom Hunter's just-released V6 collection, and pull the game .bin files you want from there. The files in the "Harmony" sections have shorter filenames and only include the primary version (first release or most-complete prototype) of each title.
  9. Image resizing and format conversion are two of the most basic procedures you need to learn to be a full participant in online forums. Research them, learn them, do them. Also, get used to having people not want to hold your hand and walk you step-by-step through basic procedures like this. Except on forums specifically for ultra-newbies, people tend to get tired of explaining that sort of thing over and over. The info is out there, all you have to do is put a little of your own effort into finding it. Once you show that you've done that, others will be more eager to put their efforts into helping you. P.S.: Wanting to post your images here is admirable; far too many linked (and hotlinked) images no longer appear in every online forum that keeps a permanent or long-lived archive. If it's uploaded to the forum servers, it will last as long as the forum does (unless the forum expires older uploads).
  10. I prefer the Atari black-background picture labels.
  11. You could try setting the power supply to 12 volts, as it sounds like the voltage is sagging quite a bit. I think either the supply isn't really capable of 9 volts at 300 mA, or there is a problem with your console causing it to draw too much current (perhaps a bad voltage regulator or shorted chip).
  12. The plug on the original RF cable is a variant "mini RCA" that's almost impossible to find today. Regular RCA plugs back then had the longer pin too. Cutting the pin of a regular RCA plug is probably your best option, if the plug itself is not too large and inflexible (ditto the cable) for the cable to bend before it gets to the top casing of the console and creates a physical conflict.
  13. That name stands for Microsoft Visual Basic Virtual Machine version 5.0 . If you have a Windows machine, you can download what you need to run it free from MS.
  14. Lots of people have reported using 300 mA rated adapters without problems. If you do run into any, it will most likely be that the adapter just suddenly dies. Another possibility is that if you have any accessories that need extra power, such as controllers with blinkenlights, or certain cartridges with more chips (CBS RAM plus, Atari SARA, Pitfall II, etc.) you might get a game glitch that you wouldn't otherwise.
  15. Oops, another fix: I left out the intro text from the "=V6 Changed Name.txt" file. History + Info V5-V6.zip
  16. Auto-switchers do not operate based on the "strength" of the video signal! That's a misconception found in numerous places on the internet. The consoles that are meant to use auto-switchers, provide DC power along with the game signal on the RF cable. It's the DC power that activates the switch. The switch also has components in it to block the DC from going to the TV, which could be a bad thing.
  17. Technically speaking the cable doesn't carry "video", it carries RF (Radio Frequency) signal, like what you would pick up with an antenna back in the days when NTSC analog broadcast was the norm. Also, six-switcher consoles have their RF output jacks on the switch daughterboard, not the mainboard. Although the original RF cables with their tiny RCA plugs would leave plenty of space for the cable to turn before hitting the top of the case, it's difficult to find a generic replacement cable that will do the same thing, because the molded-on strain reliefs usually make the plug end on the cable inflexible for well over an inch. I haven't seen an RF cable with right-angle RCA plugs that would work either, though I suppose there may be some out there somewhere.
  18. Done. History + Info V5-V6.zip Also, as long as I had the tools at my fingertips, I verified that every .bin under the HARMONY CART ROMS folder hierarchy is in fact a clone of a file in the root level, so anyone who prefers the longer filenames can safely ignore or delete the entire Harmony folder and rest assured he's not deleting something that he doesn't already have in the larger set. EDIT: Fixed "=V6 Clones.txt" (about half of the .bin extensions were inadvertently stripped from the filenames). Only two people downloaded the file before I fixed it.
  19. I suddenly remembered another tiny VCS: AA member "Dolt" found one amongst some dollhouse furniture a while back. It might give you a run for your money, PitfallHarry2600!
  20. You might be surprised how much old stock hung around to later be sold as "new" back then. I don't see your family's purchase of a brand-new, three-year-old system as being very unusual at all.
  21. PAL not SECAM? It's not very French if it is not SECAM, non?
  22. You can search on it, but if you search on it by itself your search returns every single file with a LFN, as well as any 8.3 named files that happen to contain it. To return only files containing a "~" in the LFN in Rom's collection, search instead for "~.bin" (no automatically-generated 8.3 names of LFN files will contain that sequence).
  23. It is. Maze = Slot Racers. Don't ask me why they thought "Maze" would be a good title for the game; years ago, when I was still pretty noobish, I bought a copy of Maze thinking it was the Sears version of "Maze Craze." Nope. Yeah, and when I was a kid visiting cousins who got their VCS before we got ours, I thought Slot Racers would be a really fun slot-car simulation game. Then I plugged it in and thought "something is not quite right with those Atari people". A few years later, it became obvious that I was right.
  24. SlowCoder, you forgot to mention that it has a Pitfall! cartridge in the slot.
