  1. I'm pretty much the same way.  I started out with an XRGB mini a few years back and it just never looked right to me.  Since then I do all my standard def gaming only on CRTs.  I have a few CRT setup in my game room of various size so I can have several systems setup at once.

  2. I just got a Lock-On cart today from Chris and I was very impressed with it.  I recently picked up a 7800 and games like pitfall would not fit unless I took off the case.  Using this lock-on I don't have anymore issues with 2600 games on my 7800.  Very ingenious solution thanks again!

  3. What a great dude to deal with.  I bought a boxed cib console and the way he shipped everything was amazing.  It all got here in great shape and just as described.  I'm very happy with my purchase and Ben had great communication.

    Thanks again!

If you do things slowly, it's not good either. Lack of supply, mildly pissed people having to wait, you can literally not win.

    SainT,

Really appreciate all your efforts on this and I love my Lynx SD cart.  Don't worry about what anyone says and don't feel rushed to have an answer for anyone.  You take a break and do what you want when you want.  The Jaguar has been around for 26 years so people can just keep waiting.

  5. I got #100 and I am very happy to see that everyone is ordering the cart.  I do have a question after looking at the site before I placed my order.  It says that the cart should be used with the Jag CD removed?  Just want to know that so I will not use it as a pass through on the jaguar cd.  Thanks again for making this and I'm looking forward to getting one.

  6. Does the Mega NT provide FM sound with a stock converter? IE Powerbase or an older non-FM enabled Powerbase Mini?

Do you get FM sound by playing SMS games on an older Everdrive MD that doesn't support FM audio like the Mega ED?

I ask because I do not own a Master Everdrive or a Mega ED, so sans jailbreak firmware, I have no option for playing FM sound on games I do not own physically. Buying an additional Everdrive specifically for playing SMS ROMs with FM sound would be redundant, especially if Kevtris or an anonymous cohort drops jb firmware.

And yeah, totally getting the Game Gear adapter. That system is easy to collect for since 90% of the original unmodded units have capacitor plague, the pool of available games vastly outnumbers the available hardware. I have a stack of games with no system to play them on... :_(

I did not test the FM part on the power base converter. I can confirm my everdrive x7 with the FM turned off was putting out FM sound on the mega sg. I did have to turn off the sms bios on my everdrive as that caused the sms rom not to load.

  7. I think once you have one and play with it you realize how powerful that beast was compared to anything around it.

It's really something else, the attention to details on its games is astonishing, there are a few duds for sure (Riding Hero comes to mind) and it's heavy on fighters (around 30%) but there's plenty to enjoy (pure arcade bliss).

Yes the price is still very steep, even with a flashcart, but man it's really the Rolls-Royce of the 16bits.

Given it needs a BIOS to work I am not holding my breath.

I totally agree I just got a neosd for my AES recently and the games really are amazing. I play in RGB on my modded Sony crt and it's just pixel art heaven. Everyone thinks the Neo Geo library is only fighters but there is a lot more to play than just fighters. I think an FPGA neo would be a good idea.

  8. Anyone on the new jailbreak v6.6 having any issues loading the Super Everdrive. I was having a blast playing Star Ocean on the new firmware but when I went to load my Lufia 1 save on my Super Everdrive I got a black screen.

I tried several different games on the super everdrive and it just went to a black screen. My original Lufia cart loads fine as does straight from the sd card.

  9. Yeah I heard only the FZ-10 is a difficult install. I just recently ordered an FZ-10 and since I have the skills to change lasers I am ok with just using CD-Rs.

I do own a GDEMU and RHEA and I really loves those on my Dreamcast and Saturn. It's amazing how quiet the systems are without the disc drive making noise. I been considering getting a PSIO but my PS1 reads CD-Rs so easily it seems pointless at this time.

  10. Thanks all, I appreciate the help. The Jag is likely going to be the crown jewel of my collection. I have never spent this much on a retro console before lol.

So did you win the auction? Prices are getting up there for bare bones Jaguar systems.

  11. Anyone having issues with Ninja Warriors? The game freezes for me when I pause it at the start of level 1.

I am on the jailbreak firmware and I tried the game running from the SD and from the Super Everdrive and got the same results.

Other than that the system exceeded my expectations amazing work Kevtris.

  12.

Seriously. Good ones are few and far between. The Ultimas were what we would call open world now, but actually had a plot and purpose. Horizon: Zero Dawn is a great game and an example of how it should be done. A lot of others (looking at you, no man's sky) are just endless shenanigans.

I don't think the Sega CD was that much, was it? Developers would have appreciated it more, that is sure.

I think the Sega CD was $299 at launch but you still needed a Genesis to go with it so the price was close. I was just adding $100 to the $249 the Jaguar launched at as a basis for my price.

  13. In my opinion no single game made by Atari could have saved the Jaguar (but maybe a number of games by *big* third-party publishers). Even a Jaguar+CD drive (or Jagduo) right from the start would not have saved the Jaguar...

Except, well, imagine we would have had Jag+CD drive right from the start, Atari still failed and merged with JTS, but every Jaguar owner would own a CD drive right now - great times for homebrewers, no need to create expensive carts... (luckily, one day we may get the JAG SD cart)...

CD from the start would have been nice but in 1993 that would have been a pretty expensive system. It would have probably been a $349-399 system and at that price it would have sold even less than what it did. In the end the issue they had was lack of games. I do agree it would be nice now if everything was CD based.

  14. One thing I have noticed is that the Jaguar has fantastic RGB output. Better than my Super Nintendo, Genesis, Saturn, Dreamcast, Omega CMVS, modded NES, Master System, PC Engine, or TG16 (both with the DB Electronics external board).

The only system I have with better quality RGB output than the Jaguar is the Neo Geo CD.

I agree the RGB out of the Jaguar is very clear. The text in games especially in menus is really sharp.
