  1. One of my 1200xl's is modded with Sophia rev C and the picture is nice and clean but I really want scanlines. Do you think I could convert the DVI to S-Video or Component and run that into the Retrotink 2x-Pro and then on to my monitor? Does this sound crazy?
  2. I'm trying to complete a set of Family Computing and K-Power magazines that I had as a kid. They weren't as popular as Compute!, ANALOG, and Antic back in the early/mid 80's so they are trickier for me to find. Basically, I'm looking for these: Family Computing November 1983 - (Vol 1, No 3) April 1984 - (Vol 2, No 4) 1985: January through June + Aug, Oct, Dec K-Power November/December 1984
  3. Two catch up scores and one Millipede score. Dawn Raider - 495. Too annoyed to try again. Warhawk - 183,021. Loved it but I may never be able to use my thumb again. Millipede - 159,582. Great game.
  4. My monitor went caput a couple weeks ago and just picked up temporary TV. Hopefully this score is not too late. No big deal if it is. 34,925.
  5. Wow. I love that people are doing stuff like that. I could probably pull it off but, the amount of time it would take me would just be too much. I guess I'll just move on to another project. Thanks (to everyone) for responding. I always know when I post questions on here I will get a ton of good answers.
  6. Shifting gears, I wonder if I could adapt my 1200 that has the Sofia (version C?) DVI output to that 8 pin RGB connector? Short of making performing one of the three graphics mods discussed, maybe this would be the simplest shortcut to getting the best possible picture on that Magnavox monitor?
  7. Well, at least that keeps me from going on a wild goose chase.
  8. Wow. I've stepped into a deeper rabbit hole than I thought. Are we certain that the 8 pin DIN on that monitor is RGB? I was reading somewhere that Commodore had an 8 pin DIN connector that was not RGB. Also, apparently, some Magnavox monitors were identical to Commodore monitors. I think the CM8562 and the Commodore 1902 were the same. I might have to make my own cable to try it out.
  9. Uh-oh. I just looked at the input on the back of the Magnavox. It says TTL RGB and looks like it takes 8 pins rather than 5 (this monitor does have sound capability since it has a volume pot). Right now I'm using the Best Electronics composite cable by connecting the 5 pin DIN on the back of the 1200 and using a single video connector to the RF jack on the Magnavox.
  10. Hopefully some of you can help fill me in on some monitor questions I have. It seems that much of the XL monitor discussion centers around using a modern monitor or correcting the output using Clearpic or UAV. One of my 1200's has the Sofia mod so I'm all set if I want to use a modern monitor, but my other two are largely un-modded (one has the R63 resistor jumpered so I can connect Fujinet without an external power supply). I use a Magnavox CM87640 that has a nice picture but I want to begin experimenting with ways to get an even better output. Here are my questions: Would I get a better picture from the composite output or the RF? I'm currently using RF. I have to think that is inferior, right? Does anyone sell a cable that has the DIN connector on both ends? My monitor has that DIN connector as well but every cable I see has the DIN on one end but the individual audio/video connections at the other end. Do the Clearpic and UAV mods improve both of these connections or just one? Are there any mods that are even less invasive than the two already mentioned?
  11. For the 1200xl folks at home. It wasn't formally stated but, I would expect that the OP, after making the repairs to the 1200xl itself, still had to power the device with an external power supply. From my own experience, Fujinet works great on my stock 1200xl when used with an external power supply and not at all without it.
  12. Well, it's a start. 27,000. Would have been marginally higher had I not walked right off the edge as soon as I got to level 4. As a side note, I'm playing the default level 1 with the standard Fandal version and I had to reload it about 4 times to get it to open. I either have a 1200xl problem or a maybe there's a glitch in the ROM.
  13. Slight improvement: Serpentine 6400, Mr Robot 57420.
  14. After about a thousand games, a sad score of 5250 was the best I could get on Serpentine. Level D on Mr. Robot.
  15. That took a lot out of me. Not sure I'll be able to top that. 10,734
  16. Funny: I've never played this game. I think I'd heard of it but not even sure of that. Well, this will get me started: 3,601
