Given Martial's history over the past couple years it wasn't obvious at all, and Chopsus hasn't been the first to ask.

Finally, the Atari Sycophant-In-Chief found his way here.

Do I wish it? No.
Would I care if they did? Also no.
The penalty for unwise investments is almost always loss of money. This whole project was absolutely buried in red flags since its initial announcement. If people chose to ignore them because they couldn't see past a defunct brand name, I won't shed a single tear when their money vanishes.

Dewalt, your very first company as an example was bought, sold and merged several times.
In fact that proves my point.
I'm not surprised you didn't get it, but I picked very specific examples.
While the DeWalt brand has been passed around, it has been owned by Black and Decker for over half a century. They have always had their own design and manufacturing departments, and still have over a half dozen factories in the US alone.
Apple virtually went out of business before refocusing, bringing back Jobs, and storming back to become one of the most valuable companies in the world.
Chevy (via GM) had to be bailed out by government transfusion, but still remains as a powerful icon of Americana.
Nintendo has had to restructure its business model from a competitive hardware model to one of exploiting unique market niche and successful IP management.
All of them design and manufacture their own products. None of them have ever vanished to be replaced by a company that simply decided to start calling itself "Apple." None of them have ever reduced themselves to empty holding companies. None of them rely exclusively on slapping their logo on contracted products, because a contracted Chevrolet could just as easily wear a Ford oval. In that aspect though, I suppose you're right in a way...the average consumer doesn't know or care who's actually pumping out the Centipede t-shirts, because when Atari SA goes away, someone else will seemlessly pick the license up.
Friendly advice? Stop investing. No one with your level of business ineptitude can possibly be any good at it.

Why bother? We've all known it for some time, and it sounds as though even you are finally beginning to suspect.
The reason you keep seeing people stress the "real company" angle is because those are the companies people give a shit about. DeWalt. Apple. Chevy. Nintendo. Companies that make things. Companies that inspire loyalty.
You can list a thousand reasons why it makes sense for Atari to farm out literally everything and then stick their label on it, but the inescapable fact of the matter is that no one cares when those "companies" disappear. Those contract companies are still releasing their software, and releasing it on platforms where people might actually play it. If this version of Atari flames out tomorrow, there's nothing lost.
Real companies leave a lasting hole when they go tits up. That's why there are still Studebaker fans, and that's why there's thousands of people on this forum still talking about the products of a "real" company that's been gone decades. Branding companies like Atari SA disappear like farts in the wind. No one mourns their passing, because there's no in-house talent. The likes of Roller Coaster Tycoon or Missile Command simply pass to the next licensor.

It's hilarious anyone actually thinks they've "entered production" in any meaningful way.

If they're this excited about something like Plutonium Pirates I can't wait to see their reactions to something as advanced as, say, Bloody Penguin Baseball.

For maximum drunktitude throw in a drink for unnecessary use of quotes, ellipses, capitalization, and the use of the full ATARI VCS-800 appellation. For every "dudez" finish your drink.

Honestly, that F1 nutter is no different than sports "superfans." The "win, lose, or tie, _____ fan 'til I die" type.
They aren't rational, genuine fans, they're just herp derp followers. They're keepers of the faith, and will tolerate no criticism of the team or the front office no matter how richly deserved. They're the ones that keep buying season tickets despite consecutive losing seasons. They're the reason the Cubs could sell out Wrigley for over a century despite routinely being a laughingstock of a team for most of that time.
Real fans become attached to a team or any other product because of its qualities. Mindless brand loyalty is for morons. Loyalty to an empty brand name that doesn't even retain any meaning because it's been passed around like a bad penny is on a whole other level of stupid.

I remember now...the woman looking for Atari to pay up had posted on Atari's Facebook page early in the VCS fiasco.
I remember thinking that was an odd place for her to post, but I guess she was trying anything at that point. It'd be a needle in a haystack trying to find it again at this point, if Atari didn't delete it.

They also screwed over Curt Vendel, so they have a proven track record here.
I know I've read about the game show non-payment before. Maybe it was linked to in the comments of one of the Register pieces.

One could've actually turned a tidy profit if they'd jumped on Atari SA stock when it tanked at €.17. It's up around €.30 now.

Apparently Atari's new business strategy is simply to throw an entire fertilizer truckload of shit at the wall in the hopes of something sticking.

It's to the point where there was only one comment on the latest Medium post, and I basically knew before even clicking who it was going to be.
Excellent.

Is it possible that Martial Daviaud/marss0/marss/marrs marrs et cetera is actually Atari's unpaid social media intern?
The guy pops up on every single outlet, regurgitating or cheerleading every single meaningless media release.

So I don't play the Switch at all, but my kids do and they've been sucked into this game.
If we got a second Switch, would we need a second copy of the game, or could my daughter log into her (family) account on the new machine, re-download our downloaded copy, and have her brother use that one? Or do we just need two copies of the game?
Can they both use the same family online account at the same time?

That's a whole bunch of hilarious corporate-speak for "We have no products of our own, so we'll whore our name out to anything for a price."

New Atari Console that Ataribox?
in Atari 2600
Posted
Except Martial isn't one of the legitimately mentally challenged backers, nor is he one of the blind cheerleaders.
This is the guy that posts every Chesnais interview, every Medium post, and exhorts people to buy tokens, usually before Atari themselves. He does such on literally every social media outlet imaginable.
Add his Frenchiness to the mix and I think the question of his being a social media influencer on the payroll is a legitimate one.
