Beaten to it, but yeah...the market responded to Atari's "Publication of a document presenting the detailed characteristics of the Atari VCS" with a giant yawn.

I'm a consumer. Why would I care if a product is sold at a loss? If it's a better product at a better price, that benefits me. "Atari" isn't competing in a vacuum, and I'm not running a charity.

Every time I think these clowns can't be any more ridiculous, they raise (lower?) the bar. The sad part is that the brown shirts will spin this as great news. "Multiple partners!". "Several announcements!"

The Pong table is fun to watch for a couple of minutes, and then you realize it just doesn't control very well. Cool novelty, but kind of falls flat as a game. I'd imagine this will be the same.

The biggest reason I'm not a fan of emulation. Playing with an instantly responsive point and click mouse makes for an entirely different game than dealing with the inertia of the 4" trak ball.

Or they could, you know...simply post regular weekly updates on normal progress and setbacks. Madness, I know.

I can't possibly feel bad for people like him. He's a masochist that seems to get off on being ignored by his heros at "Atari." If I had a dollar for every time he was thoroughly ignored after grovelling for "real big news" or token info or Atari's "big partner" I'd have enough money to buy the company from Fred. Seriously, screw these kind of people. They choose to stay in these kind of abusive relationships. Let them reap what they sow.

We don't exactly go out for beers after work or anything, but I'm friends with Garry on FB...

And I love this thread, as it is a daily reminder and forever proof that the easiest way to separate clueless retro hipsters from their money is to pitch a nebulous idea under a recognizable brand.

Either UberStrategist is out, or Atari has told them to shut the hell up. For the past week, the VCS Twitter, Facebook, and official subreddit have virtually gone dark. The single Reddit post assuring people they are still there could have come from anyone with access to the account. My suspicion is that Atari finally noticed that every inane daily post was another invitation for critics to chime in, and muzzled the social media hacks.

Do I dare risk the lone remaining social media outlet they haven't banned me from?
