Well it happens, regardless of it making sense to you or not. I don't know why you find it so odd that SD Card rom loading might have some issues that a real cartridge wouldn't. I mean there are even examples of some SNES games without enhancement chips working just fine on the SD2SNES, but glitching via JB rom loading.
-
I don't know why odd behavior sometimes still happens with some roms of good dumps when cart works fine. It could be simply be how the cart is being read from the cart port vs SD Card.
-
There has been plenty of examples of where the real cart works no problem and JB rom loading has bugs. Just go through the bug fixes and you'll see people saying how certain games will run fine off cartridge but not via rom. This is because someone could be using a bad dump of a game or said game has some special mapping that hasn't been implemented correctly in the FPGA.
-
Yeah if this Bubble Bobble issue is only related to JB firmware via rom loading then it is pointless to bring it up in this thread and start attacking Analogue. JB firmware issues is not Analogue's problem.
-
He's already aware of the github, just probably been too busy with Super NT firmware to check lately. That github is also used for official firmware issues.
-
Exactly, open source doesn't automatically mean superior. Also, its not like all those MiSTer cores are flawless either, some still need a good bit of work. I just think MiSTer people need to realize that Analogue products cater to a specific group of people who appreciate a plug n play device that actually looks like a consumer product.
-
And we have to remember all these bugs can always be fixed down the road.
-
Its one thing to write cores and another to take those cores and put them in a quality plastic injected shell and sell them to the general public. With Analogue all Kevtris has to worry about is writing cores and designing the PCB, where as the shell design, manufacturing and advertising is all done by Analogue. That takes a lot of weight off Kevtris's shoulders. Its really the ultimate collaboration. Lastly, Kevtris didn't have a SNES or Genesis cores prior to working with Analogue.
-
Here's the thing though, its because of Analogue's help why Kevtris has been able to release three different FPGA systems in the matter of three years. It would have been incredibly difficult for Kevtris to release these consoles by himself, let alone try and hit the $189.99 price point. Analogue isn't perfect by any means, but they give Kevtris the resources to make these products possible in such a short time and at sub $200 price points.
-
You do realize you are saying this in Kevtris's thread right? So you want Kevtris to be out of a job because of something out of his control? Look I'm with you that it'd be nice if they took a bit more time per console release to sort out bugs, but to say you wish Analogue "gets what they deserve" is absolutely ridiculous, especially knowing how that could effect Kevtris who is busting his ass working on these projects. Anyways, last I heard he was working on Super NT firmware, so its not like they totally abandon older projects firmware.

I'll definitely talk to Ace and see if he's changed his opinions about it. Perhaps he's been busy with other things and hasn't tested latest releases yet.
-
Yeah thats the problem I have with it too. Nobody is really doing any detailed video comparisons of MiSTer vs original hardware or other clones. A couple people I trust tell me SNES core is really good as far as consoles are concerned, but I'm iffy about the state of NES and Genesis cores right now.
-
1, Obviously this will be subjective and without any good audio comparisons gonna be hard to prove one way or another. 2. Ace didn't seem all that impressed with either Mega SG or MiSTer's SMS FM implementations and he's the Sega audio expert. Mega SG still has some bugs no doubt, but its still highly compatible with vast majority of games and the JB really makes an already great product even better. I have general interest in the MiSTer but I think it still needs some work for the cores that I'm interested in.
-
MiSTer's FM for SMS still has its inaccuracies too in general. There is no highly accurate SMS FM core right now.
-
What makes MiSTer Genesis way better than Mega SG? The MiSTer SNES is pretty darn good though, but the Genesis core still needs some work. Audio isn't as good as Mega SG.
-
Yeah if you need cart and original controller support then the Phoenix is probably worth checking out, otherwise Mega SG does a great job with Coleco roms using a Genesis controller. I personally use the M30 2.4Ghz.
-
It would work if Sirtvek has the pins enabled while you are in Coleco mode. No way to tell unless someone releases a cart adapter. The reason why Analogue could never officially support Coleco core with cart adapter is because Colecovision requires a Bios.
-
Make sure you get the "No Delay Bios" for Colecovision.
-
Will definitely look into a case. Yeah thankfully SD Cards have come way down in price. I'll probably end up getting a 200GB, but I plan to mostly buy physical.
-
Rastan's issue is only with FM audio. If you use original PSG audio it sounds fine. Its been known that the FM implemenation needs work in general.
-
Well Kevtris said he was working on Official Super NT Firmware like 2 weeks ago, so I think that will be next release. I'm sure we'll get at least one more Mega SG firmware sometime soon too.

With the announcement of an updated standard Switch with much better battery life I'm finally going to purchase one. Just curious what accessories you recommened. Doing some research I know to buy a nice glass screen protector and for my personal use I'll be getting a stand for table top gaming as well. Just curious what other cool accessories I should consider getting. Thanks.

Analogue replied to someone via Twitter and no they aren't accepting pre-orders right now. Krikzz needs to upgrade that old GG Everdrive. Its still flash based which = much slower loading times.
-
There isn't much to fail in the 32x outside possibly having to clean the pins and maybe replace caps down the road. 2600 consoles are 40+ yrs old these days and you can find plenty that either still work or can be made to work with very little effort.
-
It does if you have a 32x.
