SegaSnatcher replied to SegaSnatcher's topic in ColecoVision / Adam
Cool, definitely will have to check those games out. -

CollectorVision Phoenix Game Console
SegaSnatcher replied to retroillucid's topic in CollectorVision
FYI, 8bitdo did say they are working on 2.4Ghz SNES controllers. You might want to wait out for those over the standard BT SN30. They should be cheaper and have less lag, similar to M30 2.4ghz vs M30 BT controllers. -
Hi, just looking for some more information about these projects as I'm not quite sure yet what the goal is for each project. I just know one will hook up an actual Colecovision while the other is a standalone unit. Will they play totally different games?

CollectorVision Phoenix Game Console

Its a damn shame someone wasn't making brand new 2.4Ghz Coleco controllers with better stick and button response. -
Gotta admit I'm impressed they got both CV: Bloodlines and Contra Hard Corps

The selection is fine, but I think the decision to include 3 button controllers for US release was kinda dumb.

I've never heard of this sealion term until you brought it up with that comic you posted earlier, which I did find hilarious. Regardless. my intention was not to engage in any form of trolling. I'm just very passionate with my opinions and perhaps it comes off the wrong way on the internet. I'm just geuninely curious about the Amico and want to get a better understanding of it and sometimes that means asking the tough questions and really trying to drill in points I have in hope people would understand where I'm coming from. Obviously people see this as me coming off too aggressively, which is a fair assesstment, perhaps I could have toned it down somewhat. Lastly, just wanted to say I really do look forward to learning more about the Amico in the upcoming months and I do hope the Amico finds success regardless of my initial opinions of it. I've always said I respect the fact that this project is 100% self funded. Anyways, that is all you will hear from me on this topic in this thread, I will respect Tommy's wishes to move on and let the thread return to its previous state. I now have my own Amico thread so I'll just stick to that for the forseeable future.

Hi, I'm still quite a newbie when it comes to Colecovision and was just wondering if I can get some homebrew recommendations. Currently I have played some great titles like SHMUP, Pac-Man and Space Invaders collection, King's Valley and Stray Cat. All great homebrew games. Thanks

The Switch was the best move Nintendo could make after the Wii U. Honestly Switch is what Nintendo probably wanted the Wii U to be, but the tech just wasn't available at the time. After seeing that Link's Awakening remake I think I might have to buy a Switch finally. I'm just waiting to see if Nintendo releases updated hardware this year. I hear they are doing both a more portable version and a slightly upgraded standard Switch.

Of course you probably want me to leave because I haven't jumped on the Amico hype train. Judging by your response it doesn't seem you take criticism very well which is a shame. Yes, I'm a doubter, but I'm still looking forward to any new announcements. I never said Amico can never win me over, all my opinions are solely based on the information we currently have, things can always change down the road. Just because I won't drink the Amico kool-aid right now doesn't mean I can't be a customer down the road. It's not stubborness just because I won't automatically roll over for you and take your word on things, that isn't how I operate. You can say the Amico is going to do this and that all day long, but until we see this thing is action and hear from unbiased people what they think of this machine and the games then all it you are doing is one big sales pitch. Not every customer is going to be convinced by the Amico as a viable gaming machine just with a sales pitch, some of us need more than that and if you think that is being stubborn then I don't know what to tell you. Lastly, I never downplayed your music career, in fact I'm a huge fan of your work in that field. All I said was just because someone found success in one sector of the video game business doesn't mean they will automatically be successful with releasing an actual console (e.g. Trip Hawkins 3DO), which to me seems like an obvious statement to make. Please don't twist my words like that.

Again, yes and no. It replaces the whole CD interface. Remember the PC Engine CD has a CD drive, built in save memory and video/audio outputs. SSD3 does that + adds Hucard rom loading and RGB output. A simple ODE for SSD3 would only replace the laser in the CD unit.

Switch is pretty successful though and its obviously selling to more than just the hardcore Nintendo fanbase. Also, there are plenty of casual friendly titles on the Switch, not everything on Switch requires tons of skill. A single joycon is a rather simple controller to use as well. But if your point is if its grabbing a large amount of uber casual android/iOS users than no that is true. Nothing will get those people away from their phones/tablets, they are way too dependent on them unfortunately.

Yes and no. Usually an ODE just replaces the laser mechanism, where as the Mega SD is replacing the whole Sega CD unit.

I wouldn't be so sure Krikzz has the skills to do Sega CD. Yeah, he can license a 68K core, but everything else he'd have to implement himself and as far as I'm aware he's never implemented actual hardware chips in a FPGA before. Remember Sega CD has a scale and rotation chip and 8 channel ADPCM audio chip. Regardless even if he attempts it and succeeds we wouldn't be seeing that for probably at least a full year from now if not longer. He's working on many different flash carts at the same time its seems, so he can't dedicate all his time to implement Sega CD. I think TO caught Krikzz with his pants down.
