Maybe I simply like talking about new projects and discussing with people on forums? I bet if all my comments were talking about how amazing I thought the Amico was going to be you wouldn't mind. As long as people are being civil which I believe I have been then there shouldn't be a problem with debating and speculating. You don't have to take part in said debate, you can simply post about how excited you are about the product nobody is stopping you. I don't have a problem with people who are excited for this product. If you think its awesome, cool.

Yeah, let me clarify and say that I'm not saying I know for a fact it will or won't be a success, I'm just not very optimisitic given the information we have been given so far. I have stated that I look forward to seeing what games get announced in the future and depending on what happens from now until launch I might come to a complete opposite opinion of the device. Until then I don't see the harm in speculating.

I agree with you about the personal connection, but again its hard to convince someone to stop doing what they are use to and enjoy. My Niece has found some appreciation with retro gaming because I introduced her to it, but she's always going to prefer using her phone and tablet for most of her entertainment purposes and now that she's older she has even less interest in dedicated co-op gaming in the living room.

I never said Amico was going to fail miserably. I don't know how many units Tommy needs to sell in order for him to consider it a success. If he's expecting to sell millions of these then yeah I think it will be a flop, but if he's just planning to sell in the thousands then yeah he might find some success. He hasn't and most likely won't give us that kind of information, so its just a guessing game.

Kids these days are less about actually doing things in person. They are happy just texting each other, sending each other funny memes and having a go on some online multiplayer matches. If thats what makes them happy then I don't see a problem. If they decide they want to play co-op in the living room together well they already have options available to them.

Did I say that, no, so stop putting words in my mouth. Having said that do you automatically assume Tommy is an expert in selling consoles because he made video game music back in the 90s? Its one thing to write some kick ass music for a game and another to release a home console. Shoot with all the success Nintendo has had through the years they still released plenty of flops, just look at the Wii U and Virtual Boy.

I never said I was an expert and that I know more than anyone else here. I'm simply going by my own experiences and what research I've done. I do my best to stay in touch with the current trends of gaming. I try and investigate what devices people like to pay video games on, why they do and what type of content they tend to buy/download on said platform.

If we are talking $60 game purchases then don't forget RDR2 and Call of Duty franchise. Both of those sold incredibly well too. Its pretty obvious why families stopped playing together in a big way and that is thanks to the internet. Why play with your Mom or Dad who likely suck at video games when you can compete with your friends online who know what they are doing? Tommy acts like playing with your family is objectively superior than playing online with your buddies. I'm not saying the latter is objectively superior, but clearly its the most popular. Kids/Teens today aren't exactly yearning to play video games with their "lame" parents. Also, nobody brings up the fact that back in the 80's/90's you would be lucky to have more than one TV in the house, now its not uncommon for almost every bedroom to have its own TV. Most kids these days are no longer forced to have to wait until Dad is done watching his football game to play video games, after they get home from school they go straight to their bedrooms and play whatever online multiplayer game is popular at the time.

You say you want to see families having more fun together in the living room and that board games have risen 40% in popularity in the past 5 yrs, so why not get in the board game business? The only foul language you'll get out of a board game is from frustrated players lol. The controls are super simple too.
-
Wait, you are using the popularity of board games as evidence that there is potentially a huge market looking to play video games together in the living room? I personally wouldn't connect the two as I think board games have their own appeal outside video games. You can love board games and have absolutely no interest in any kind of video game.

No offense Tommy but you have't provided any data or evidence to back your claim that mobile isn't catering to casuals. This sounds more like why you personally don't like mobile games and how you would like to improve it, because I'm not hearing all these uber casuals crying out for something else than what mobile is offering them. Mobile offers convienence, free/cheap games and a variety of content. Yes there is tons of crap content people have to skim through, but software reviews help and word of mouth. Also, mobile controls are good enough for the type of games people end up playing on them anyways. You don't need amazing controls to play matching games.
