  1. You know you can do that right now and it will be cheaper than Amico. INTV controller to USB adapter. https://www.raphnet-tech.com/products/intellivision_to_usb_adapter/index.php Raspberry Pi B 3+ kit https://www.amazon.com/CanaKit-Raspberry-Premium-Clear-Supply/dp/B07BC7BMHY/ref=sr_1_4?crid=129YYRPER9GGD&keywords=raspberry+pi+3+b%2B&qid=1561449559&s=gateway&sprefix=Raspber%2Caps%2C165&sr=8-4 Enjoy!!!
  2. I enjoy retro gaming too. So what the only people who should comment are those already sold on the product? Can I not ask questions and put my concerns out there? I would hope Tommy listens to any and all feedback whether positive or negative. A good leader doesn't just surround himself/herself with a bunch of yes man who tells them that everything is great.
  3. That is really what it comes down to. Will the games deliver. Even if its aimed for families the games still have to be fun or its worthless. All I know is games that have been confirmed so far are not exactly super exciting, but again they still have plenty of time to announce more games.
  4. Leapfrog has a specific market with Toddlers, but they grow out of that fairly quick and start playing online games soon after. You know what the first thing a kid is going to ask about the Amico "Can I play Fortnite and Roblox with my friends online?". Tommy will look at them, smile and say, "Actually you don't want to play fortnite or roblox with your friends online, what you actually want to do is play Neurosurgeon and B-17 Bomber with your family in the living room. You're going to love it!!!" I'm exaggerating obviously, but point I'm making is Tommy assumes young kids and teens want to play video games with their Parents. From my experience they want to be left alone to play their games with their buddies. Couch gaming is for the most part dead. There is a niche market out there, but is it enough for the Amico, time will only tell.
  5. Its gonna be tough work that is for sure. It'll be interesting when they roll out their big ad campaign and see how the mainstream reacts.
  6. When did I say I spoke for you? My comment was a reply to Tommy not you. Anyways, I said majority not all. It is a fact that majority interested in Amico are long time INTV fans, and to say this isn't the case is ridiculous. Point of that comment was, its easy to get the hardcore INTV fanbase on board with the Amico, that takes very little effort, but its another to get a brand new demographic of gamers interested too.
  7. Yeah I have no idea what hardware are in those controllers, but if I were making that Amico console those controllers would have enough power to handle those 2D games on the go. Plenty of low power SoCs that could handle the kind of games Tommy wants to see on the Amico system, just at lower resolutions obviously to match the screen.
  8. And like I said many times before that market is currently be taken care of with mobile devices. Nothing caters more towards casuals than tablets and smartphone gaming.
  9. I wasn't comparing the two, just simply talking about what I personally play. Yeah Candy Crush was/is hugely popular, nobody is arguing that. Here's the thing though, people can play Candy Crush games on the convienence of their phones anywhere they go. You know what would have probably helped the Amico greatly. If kids could take those controllers with them outside their homes and play games on those mini screens. Then that might have been a great alternative than buying a kid a phone. Unless I'm mistaken and you can indeed play INTV Amico games on the go.
  10. I personally don't do as much online play these days, but doesn't mean I don't realize its importance to the vast majority of gamers. When it comes to modern gaming I prefer single player experiences with great gameplay and storytelling. Red Dead Redemption 2 for example.
  11. Wii did have online at launch but it was clunky especially with those friend codes you had to enter.
  12. Yes Wii Sports did sell a crap ton of machines, but guess what nobody cares about the Wii anymore outside the modding community. The mobile market isn't declining last time I checked. Frequently no, but I did play them and I think Minecraft is a fantastic game for the kids.
  13. Again, Switch had online multiplayer at launch, so did PS4 and XBO. Are you using the standards of their past pre online systems to excuse Amico for not having online play? The standards have changed. If you are seriously trying to capture the mainstream then online multiplayer should have been a priority. Its incredibly important to teens and kids these days.
  14. Sorry, but the majority of people right now who are praising this device are biased INTV fans. You know that super niche market? They are simply happy a company is aknowledging their love for INTV and making a new console with the INTV name. They'll take anything they can get at this point. Of course these people don't care about online play or T rated games because they just want a modern take on their beloved INTV system. I'm not saying that is a bad thing for INTV fans to want a new INTV console, but there aren't enough INTV fans to make this device a huge hit.
  15. Nintendo Switch did have online multiplayer when it launched. It was their basic free service before they launched their paid service.
  16. What I said is true. A lot of huge franchises are T rated. I didn't say T rated games have more huge franchises than E rated games, but you are limiting a large amount of potentially great content with your E rating limitation. This is not debatable. To say this isn't true tells me you don't really pay much attention to what people are playing these days. You clearly have a specific vision, but I just feel your vision is going to hold back the Amico greatly. Your restrictions will do more harm than good in my honest opinion. I'm a huge gamer in terms of both retro and modern, so I'm not coming with any bias. I'm just looking at the Amico at face value with the information that has been released so far. I realize more announcements will come in the future, but first impressions are important and currently I don't see the appeal other than for those people pushing 50 yrs of age who you have great nostalgia for INTV. I do wish you luck though. I'd love to be proven wrong and see this be a huge hit for you and your team. I don't at all want you to fail, just throwing out my concerns that is all.
  17. No, I bought a Wii at launch because of Zelda and to try out Wii Sports. The Wii was the right product at the right time. It offered casuals something that no other platform holder was offering. In 2019 that same casual market has moved on to mobile devices and seem quite happy with them. Of course I played those casual games you speak of. Thats the point, the casual market has their fix already.
  18. With the type of budgets you are aiming for how can you promise any games with great depth? Seems like the type of games that could happen on such a low budget/dev time is shallow arcade style games where you play for a few minutes and move on. Games with actual depth take time and at least a somewhat decent budget behind them.
  19. Why not have both? The big three might be focused on online multiplayer, but there are still tons of couch multiplayer experiences available, especially with the Switch. Playing Mario Kart 8 or Smash Bros is fun as hell both online and on the couch with your buddies. People should have more choices, not less.
  20. Hmmm, I honestly think that might be the biggest mistake not to have any kind of online infrastructure ready at launch. Online Multiplayer is simply too important to ignore as this is relevant to both casual and core gamers. People want the convenience to play with their friends online, its the standard in modern gaming.
  21. I do have to compliment Tommy and the Amico project about something, at least he's not asking for funding. It might not be my cup of tea, but at least he's funding it with his own money.
  22. 1. Exactly, they would have to come out with a brand new killer app IP to get a lot of people interested. 2. Wait, you are telling me they have no intention of having any kind of online multiplayer? Ummm, sorry but that is unacceptable for a console releasing in 2020. That is a must!!! To deny online multiplayer is simply denying the standard feature gamers expect these days. To believe people will accept the fact it doesn't have any online multiplayer because you might have a couple fun games shows to me that the people behind the Amico project are out of touch. You can't reinvent the wheel by taking away popular features, you need to improve on them and or bring new things to the table that nobody else is doing that is actually interesting. 4. Of course it is a retro inspired console. They specifically talk about dedicated 2D hardware and the only games he's talked about so far are remakes of old classics and a new Earthworm Jim game which is a franchise that peaked in the 90s in terms of popularity. The controllers obviously draw inspiration from the original INTV controllers, but with a touch screen now and it won't even have online multiplayer if what you say is true.
  23. 1. Unless this system is aimed at a leap frog alternative than yes it is. Plenty of kids are playing games like Overwatch and Fortnit these days. Parents aren't as strict about their kid's gaming choices as they once were. I can understand removing M rated game, but T rated games by far have some of the most popular titles 2. It might not be, but if they don't have strong online multiplayer support then thats all they will be getting. The only kids that want to play with their families are toddlers, most kids/teens just want to play with their buddies online. 3. Steam has tons of great content at discounted prices. Android and iOS is filled with tons of shovelware too, but that doesn't stop them from being the #1 device people use to game on. 4. Comparing Famicom to Amico is hilarious. Famicom actually brought something new to the table when it released where as Amico seems to be trying to just release a 1980's like system in 2020. Unless Amico has the big franchises that kids care about and has an active online community it will not likely have much success outside the most diehard INTV fans. That is the truth.
  24. Well they are hyping this project up on a daily basis without showing much. Its true we don't know the list of launch games, but if games like B-17 Bomber remake and Microsurgeon is what gets Tommy excited for about his Amico project then I personally don't have much hope for the system to have any real mass appeal.
  25. That is irrelevant. I'm simply stating the obvious. Mobile devices own the uber casual market. Nintendo has the kids and older market who love strong IP like Mario and Pokemon. Sony and Microsoft take care of the rest. Nothing has been announced for Amico so far that is gonna get a large amount of gamers in any of the above markets interested. As far as I'm concerned the only people who seem to really care are the same people who owned an original INTV back in the early 80s. Well that ain't gonna make the Amico successful if that is the only people who are buying it. Obviously more games will be announced, but so far I'm not impressed with what has been revealed so far. Hopefully we get to see some actual gameplay soon. Its one thing to hype the product and call it "a revolution in gaming" but its another to actually deliver.
