  1. And lastly, I felt to mention that Denki Blocks! might be a classic example of of a game whose cover deceptively hides a game’s difficulty. Although the cover makes it look like it’s for preschoolers, it actually might be the most difficult puzzle game on the system.
  2. I like to call Tomb Raider: The Prophecy an “overhead Tomb Raider on SNES”.
  3. Yeah, I was surprised in particular that Medal of Honor: Infiltrator isn’t brought up more. I think fans of games like Guerrilla War, Mercs, and Cannon Fodder would get a kick out of it.
  4. Those two haven't gotten new games since 2019, which is why I listed them that way.
  5. Of sure, Bomberman had quite a number of interesting titles that branched off from the traditional maze formula, handhelds included:
  6. So with Donkey Kong getting a remake this year: Space Invaders (45 years) The Oregon Trail (42 years) Mario (42 years) Donkey Kong (42 years) Pac-Man (42 years) Wizardry (42 years) Bomberman (40 years) Nobunaga's Ambition (39 years) Galaxian (39 years) Dragon Slayer (38 years) Wolfenstein (37 years) Microsoft Flight Simulator (37 years) Dragon Quest (37 years) The Legend of Zelda (37 years) BurgerTime (37 years)
  7. I did quite like Bomberman Quest, which goes for an action RPG structure.
  8. So with all these retro franchises having gotten new releases this year, they’ve reached these time milestones: Fire Emblem - 32 years Power Pros - 28 years Tomb Raider - 26 years Kirby - 30 years Uncharted Waters - 32 years Doom - 29 years Atelier - 25 years Resident Evil - 27 years Winning Post - 30 years Sonic the Hedgehog - 31 years Postal - 25 years Dokapon - 29 years The Legend of Zelda - 37 years Bubble Bobble - 36 years Street Fighter - 35 years Crash Bandicoot - 26 years Final Fantasy - 35 years Jagged Alliance - 28 years Double Dragon - 36 years
  9. Jacob Jazz is one of the those games for anyone who appreciate those "descent into madness" sort of games, but in the best sort of way. Feels like it's always trying to give you something new to see in this roller coaster of an experience that's hard to forget. Are there any more games like this on Switch?
  10. Following on from Krion, I realized how Valkyrie no Bōken stands out to me as the earliest Famicom game I've seen where the human female protagonist is clearly shown as female right off the bat, using no face covering like a mask. I'm surprised it isn't brought up more if only for that little factoid.
  11. Battle Network's battle system is growing on me. I'm liking how snappy it is. MMBN.mp4
