That's pretty impressive. I can't argue with that.
Where's the order thread, or how could I get one? I didn't see any particular thread in the subforum (on a quick search)?

Yeah, the XEX version is apparently a conversion of the disk version of the game, which includes the extra parts you mention.

There's probably an uncompressed XEX out there too, to which the ROM changes could be copied and pasted.

Yes, but it was discussed before that a more responsive way to implement a similar behavior is to allow rotate on "button press", but not to accept another "button press" until a "button release" has been registered.

Robin Edwards (Ultimate Cart author) made this ROM to CAR utility.

Thanks, it seems like a pretty well-done and interesting game.
One negative, the word-entry/editor mechanism seems to lose keystrokes (at least in Altirra) when typing at my normal speed.

That SynAssembler cart file is most likely the 400/800 version, which requires OS-B in order to run. There is an XL/XE version too.

I think Satan bought it.
I put a MUCH SMALLER BID on it to archive it. Not the type of archive were you put the unsealed box on shelf where no one sees it. The other archive, where you scan the box, manual and disk and make the program into an ATX so everyone can look and use it.
I'm not surprised with something from Rhiannon Software. The titles are rare and seem to be pretty high quality, with nice artwork and in a bound book from Addison-Wesley. They're also unique titles, aimed at young females.

They got wood from the same period to make the frame, or strip an old painting of all its paint (with stuff that was available in the particular time you are aiming for), make it look older by adding some coffee or tea or dirt mixture. Use the same paints of that period. Add grease to the surface, heat them in an oven to make the paint crack, et cetera....
To make matters worse, you have these "validation" houses that are certifying repros as being authentic protos -- like what happened a few years back with the plentifully available Super Pac-Man repro from B & C (or wherever), which was put on Ebay for thousands of dollars.

Well, he's got to get something back for what he paid on the crates of goods. In the auction, he just said they were "vintage" not "rare". Haha...

The question then comes as to whether something that meticulously faked is any less valuable than the original; and if the guy is never going to open the boxes up, does it matter what's inside?

I've said this before: shrinkwrap ages. Something shrinkwrapped in the late 80's is typically not going to look like something shrinkwrapped 2 weeks ago.
Case in point:
This kind of aging is a bit extreme; so, it's not going to be the norm; but rather to make the point.
In the photos he's posted, it's a bit hard to tell if there's anything that can be said to look aged; but maybe something can be seen on close visual inspection of the real articles.
As far as opening them up goes, I open everything, unless I plan on selling it; but, I've also never paid $350 for two pieces of software, which would heavily influence my decision of whether to open them or not. I'd certainly be closely examining those two boxes and shrinkwrap, once I got them in my hands, after making such a purchase.

It definitely takes some tweaking to get an image that will process well -- not to mention the time it takes to procure a suitable image for making an attempt.
Greens are surely a strong suite for the Atari 8-bit computers...
-
Those are some pretty serious jailbars. It looks like scanlines running vertically. Never seen them so pronounced.
-
How many attempts does it normally take you?
-
That turned out nice.

No, I was just curious and looked it up real quick.

The Worlds Smallest Atari 8-Bit?
in Atari 8-Bit Computers

Why are people trying to plug C64 power supplies into Ataris at all in the first place? I mean, if people just grab anything lying around and plug it into their machine (especially the video port), they deserve to have it fried.
