  1. I think it looks pretty nice. I don't think lower resolution would spoil the spirit of the game, necessarily (it all depends on the quality of the conversion), but it would change the look and feel somewhat. It looks like the two XEX's you uploaded are the same. Wasn't the second one supposed to be the low-res test?
  2. I just downloaded the Homesoft archive and it looks like it has 4,126 games -- although I'm not sure how many might be slight variations (with different titles, etc.). Fandal's site has 4,683 games. Atarimania lists 9,494 games -- although I'm pretty sure they're counting releases, which would include duplicate titles released from different publishers, in different countries, etc. So, I'd put Fandal at a pretty close number; but I'd guess there to be a fair number more, as he's adding all the time. That's why I'd say there's at least 5 times what you said (1,000). "XEGS or 65XE?"... Depends on what you want/need. They're generally similar; but the finer differences might or might not matter for you (keyboard, cost, etc.). I made a general comparison chart for the main NTSC 8-bit models (posted in this thread: Atari 8-bit Computer Comparison). You might get some useful ideas from it.
  3. Where did you get that idea? There's at least 5 times that number available.
  4. I would think that'd be pretty easy for @playsoft to do, seeing he's the one that fixed all the bugs and converted it.
  5. Tempest is being sold in the Atariage store. Any conversion would have to involve the author.
  6. All useful and interesting sounds. I just got the impression of an unstable spaceman walking around. A tracker with the needed features to exploit POKEY to the best possible advantages is long overdue. Maybe opening a thread and discussing how such a tracker could be designed would be a good way to get someone interested in developing it.
  7. Doesn't work in Windows 7, for me. I'm sure there's some way to "hotkey" it there though. I'm not really too keen on have the whole display turned for one app/window. Although in full screen mode it would be fine.
  8. Vertically oriented screens can be useful for any type of computer system.
  9. Sounds like drunk spaceman music.
  10. New feature request for Altirra: Ability to rotate screen in 90° increments.
  11. On that note, I guess the Turbo Freezer 2011 could be considered an option as well. Although it's not a cart-port device per se; it is a cartridge that plugs into cart port + ECI on an XE system or PBI on an XL system; and does give you a pass through cart port on the connector for the XE's. It provides 512 KB of RAM (battery backed) for extended memory, 512 KB of RAM (battery backed) for cart emulation, and 1 MB of Flash for cart emulation (as shown in this thread: Turbo Freezer 2011 - Usage / Info). It also provides a lot of useful tools for development, including the ability to freeze program execution, a built-in debugger, DOS commands, and various ways to store frozen states of the machine.
  12. Supposedly MyIDE II has 512 KB of SRAM.
  13. Fandal has it on his site: Monday Morning Manager
  14. Lukasz Sychowicz (X-Ray) [Grayscale] does. Some notable examples: Theme (Boremloza) to the great Numen demo Theme (Typewriter) to Total Daze demo [Note: Music for the above are in stereo in the demos, but only in mono in the ASMA archive.] Music for Yoomp Music for Boinxx (unfinished WIP) [Note: Music files in the ASMA archive for this game are titled PacMan_1, PacMan_2, PacMan_3, and PacMan_Game_Over.]
  15. Why not just purchase another machine that's in working condition, so you can get the 1200XL attended to without the pressure of it being your only machine? At that point you could even just put the 1200XL aside for a while, to relieve the frustration.
  16. Here's some more fun from this guy a few years back: ATARI 5200 Ultimate SD Wafer Drive (Up to 32GB of storage space)
  17. Thanks for the demo. Nice job on everything, including the gradual progression of difficulty.
  18. OK, I see what you're getting at. Maybe Fandal and/or Irgendwer can provide an answer here as to their further interest in converting the series...
  19. Treasure Island Dizzy has already been ported to the Atari 8-bit Computer Systems.
  20. Sent Sounds cool. Any screenshots available?
  21. What will be added to this extended version? Is there a possibility of selling cart + manual only (no box or other items)? If so, I'd probably be interested.
  22. Welcome on Jim. In what ways would the final machine have been different?
  23. Nice Job. Suggestion: turn the volume down a bit on the 4th channel (bottom of the visual/graph).
