[Edit] There may be... A lot of sheet feeders use a smooth white strip as backing for the small area on the scanner that the paper passes over when being scanned. I haven't tried it, but it may be possible to attach a dark strip of paper to this area. Main difficulty may be attaching it in such a way as to not interfere with the paper being fed through. [Note] The new inability to edit a post even after only one day is very frustrating.

Finally tried out my 65xe on a TV with s-video input at work. It looks great. So, apparently it is either my video-in card, my LCD monitor, or some combination of the two. I would prefer to run the 65xe into my computer, as I'm planning on slaving my machine for APE anyway. If I have to I'll use a smallish TV with s-video or an extra LCD that has s-video input for my setup, as I don't want to compromise on the video quality. Thanks for all the suggestions.

I think they look fine. Good to see that you've taken the time to deal with bleed through. I prefer one large PDF rather than several smaller ones. Your efforts are much appreciated.

You're making copies of these for materials + shipping also?

I would like a set of the Antic collection, if they're still available. I just found out today, as the first post about them being completed (in the 8-bit forum) was just made today.

I think they're basing it's entry on being a possible prototype. DP's list gives a specific information, if you click on it's entry: Description: Listed on Atari's Master Part Number List Part Number: RX8123 Atarimania lists Ikari Warriors in its 8-bit section. Also, since there was a version done for the 7800, there is the possibility that one was being worked on for the 8-bit just as with Xenophobe.

Ahh, that explains it. Well, it was certainly a good move, as it really sounds good. The one thing that is unexplained however is how the various reviews I have read state that this game has terrible sound. I expected it to sound horribly, but it sounds pretty darn good to me! I've never seen any bad reviews for Commando's sound. Seems kinda odd, considering how well it was done. It's the best sounding game on the system in my opinion, and I'm sure others as well. Could you point me to a site that has one of these reviews? I would be interested finding out what they thought was so bad about it.

Were any of 7800's issues with cartridges not fitting addressed with this device?

dla and lightball look cool. you should do a tesla coil or some lighting strikes...

Do you or others know if the Seagate or Rodime drives are more reliable? I've never used a Rodime drive before.. Thanks, ..Al Good question. I can't answer as I've never used these, or any other hard drives from this era. I only had 5 1/4 floppies back in my early Atari days.
-
Ahhh, I was not aware of that, good to know. I had an Adaptec controller board that I used with my drives. Guess I should not be surprised that they are so hard to find these days. I'm interested and I'd take two of these if you can get them. Thanks, ..Al Just click on the link I posted. These are tested available drives with a warranty. You can order them through the website or call.

Perhaps a matter of a point of view ... On the Atari you see straight grown and healthy trees while on the C64 they look very old , broken , and sick On the Atari all four trees look different while on the C64 always two look the same. From a special point of view (thinking about horror movies or else) the C64 trees are drawn with a higher artistic achievement. But do they really fit to the game? Well, ofcourse the Atari trees look a bit dull, but "dull" in a neutral way. Just to fill the screen for the main game, which is an action game and not a horror game. You have a point emkay. But, I think part of this perception comes from the fact the background is black. The trees look a little more ominous at night. If a daytime background is added it doesn't look so much this way: The Atari trees could have been done better. I think ActiVision didn't want to do much work going from the 2600 to 8-bit.

Man that really sucks.. Im sorry to hear about that. Did you already leave positive feedback for the seller? Did the auction make any guarantees against DOA? Regardless, I would definitely contact the seller and explain the situation, and see if they can do anything to "make it right"... Well, at the very least, you got an external SCSI enclosure out of the deal. Here is a list of drives that I know to work with the MIO: 512byte sector drives (half capacity) Seagate ST-125N Seagate ST-138N Seagate ST-157N Seagate ST-251N Seagate ST-277N 256byte sector drives (full capacity) Seagate ST-225N Seagate ST-251N-1 Seagate ST-277N-1 Seagate ST-296N Rodime RO650 Rodime RO652 You can find these drives on EBAY, but the prices are usually outrageous.. The company I work for has the Rodime R0652's for $50. I know we have some of the Seagate's too, but they are not listed on our website. If anyone's interested in some of these I can find out the details.

OK, well that was it. Thanks. Must be a bad dump, or something specific about the cartridge. I would like to find out, as I prefer cartridge images for emulation, in that they are in the original form compared to a lot of executables with their various loader screens, signatures, and other miscellaneous crap.

Check this Joystick Poll.

How do you get the "utility hoist" to work on BB? Manual says: space to start, joystick button to stop, and joystick to move. It just sits there for me no matter what I do. What gives? (I'm using cartridge image in Atari800win+, in case that is relevant)

WHat are some ways of making multi-colored sprites?
MrFish replied to Tyrop's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
yep, you can do things like this: (P/M are the vertical bars) or this: (P/M gives the colors) NRV the Tetris looks good! no flickering? only by GPRIOR? that is cool... so many untapped features... Who needs VBXE... @ NRV: Would you be so kind as to post the binary? -

So, why isn't any of this in "Mapping The Atari"? (I realize the player to player stuff is, and I've always known about this) -

yep, you can do things like this: (P/M are the vertical bars) or this: (P/M gives the colors) NRV I was not aware of this either (sleeping during that lesson). It gives some interesting possibilities. Are there any examples of games, demos, or pics that use this technique? I would really like to see more. Your picture is impressive NRV. However, the blocks that are highlighted with a shade of their base color look better than the ones highlighted in white. Maybe this was/is not possible... -
Had a problem with the demo (last one uploaded). Played a game, and then left it on the title screen for a few minutes. When I started a new game it continued to show "Game Over" in the center of the screen during gameplay. I didn't try to repeat the error... too busy with Christmas and all. This is in emu using atari800win plus, xl/xe rom, 1mb ram, ntsc...

I played it a lot too, back in the day, and had quite a bit of fun with it. I think a lot of the enjoyment on the 8-bit computer version came from "Boxing Construction" module. Fun to see what kind of weird looking boxers you could come up with, and then put them to the test. In the 8-bit version, you actually had to construct your own boxer in order to compete in the sparring sessions.

Hey, your right, double-pressing trigger works. I tried that before, but I wasn't doing it correctly. The timing is tricky. You have hold on your first press before doing the second. If your first press is too quick it doesn't work. Also, I have been to the area by falling into the pit. It also requires using long jumps. Thanks. Now on to playing the game...

Trying to play Castle Mania by KESoft, but one problem. I can't get the player to jump over any of the obstacles, except for the very first one. Is there some sort of secret to longer jumps in this game, or is it just unplayable? I've tried everything I could think of: running and jumping, standing and jumping, jumping from ladders, various timings for joystick movements, etc. Any help is appreciated.
