A valid point. I have built games myself. I have a Defender cabinet and a Mad Planets cabaret that i built sitting in my basement right now, actually. I went this route because i could pick this thing up, assemble it and have a working game in an hour. It had the games that i wanted pre-installed, I didn't have to worry about how i was going to power it, sourcing parts, sourcing custom artwork etc. I can modify it as i see fit, when i see fit, using materials i already had leftover from previous projects. Building a cabinet from scratch is a long, drawn out process. This was cheap, easy and quick.

New side art is definitely out of the question. Not worth the cost at all. As it is now, this has been a free project. Already had some 1/2" ply sitting around. I said the same thing about about not wanting one of these. But, the idea if playing Centipede and missile command with a real trackball sold me and i folded. I have a few arcade machines and a couple pins already. I have no idea where I'm putting this thing when it's done.

The only real issue i see is that the side art is a vinyl overlay, so I'm not sure how well the Bondo and paint will blend. Once that's done, I'm thinking some bright green t-molding would look great. If you're even thinking about getting one of these, go ahead and call arcade1up and get on the waiting list for the overlay. They said it could be up to 6 weeks wait time.

For something non Wal-Mart related... Started putting together a base for my Centipede. I never liked the idea of the cheesy black riser and the plan from the get go was to build something better. I'm going to graft it on to the cabinet and replace the front panel with one solid piece. Maybe add a coin door. Hopefully when I'm done, it'll look like a cabaret and not a midget cabinet sitting on a box.

A three ring binder with clear pocketed inserts.

Just got this off Amazon. Is not incredibly in depth, but gives a good overview of all the major consoles. Worth the 17 dollar price.

Couldn't hurt to contact the seller

Not sure if i can add anything to this thread that hasn't already been said, but i bought a Centipede a couple days ago and here are my thoughts on it. -the quality is ok. Certainly not arcade build quality, but should hold up for home use. -as said by others, the monitor bezel sits low and the bottom artwork is cutoff by the cp. The mounting slot for the bezel was long enough that i was able to slide it up enough to clear the cp. -The buttons are run of the mill micro switch buttons. No issues so far. -The trackball is definitely a "home use" model. It worked fine, but wasn't especially smooth. I opened it up, there no bearings on the rollers, they just spin in the plastic mounts that hold then. A drop of oil on each one helped a good deal. I'm thinking of putting shrink tubing over each roller to help it grab better. -gameplay and emulation seem fine. Haven't noticed any lag, but I'm probably oblivious to it if it's there. -Centipede saves your high score, missile command does not. Not sure about the other games. I'm going to extend the front and sides at some point to make it normal cabaret size. I don't like how the arcade1up base looks and it definitely needs to be taller. Probably do a backlit marquee, coin door and green t molding while I'm at it.

No, it seems fine so far. The qc is what worried me, but everything is working as it should.

I have the 143 in 1. No issues thatI've noticed.

Bought a dirty pile of Atari crap off off eBay, mainly for the tac-2. This ended up being probably the most poorly packaged items I've ever received. I see what the hype is about with the tac-2. That super stick is interesting as well.

Why do people actively hate "pre-NES" consoles?
4300 replied to zetastrike's topic in Classic Console Discussion
This generation of kids couldn't operate a screwdriver without first watching a how to video on YouTube. No fucks given on what they think about my console collecting. -
If i have a chance tomorrow, I'll crack it open. Overall quality is decent. Plays about the same as your average nes controller. The buttons and d pad seem fairly responsive. The overlay could be better, but isn't horrible.

Not gaming related, but cool nonetheless.
