  1. Definitely leaving the woodgrain, although i may try to paint the side art over it.
  2. So a while back, i picked up a non working video poker for next to nothing. Right away i knew i wanted to turn it into a cabaret and decided on a mad planets running a jrok board. It was wider than a cabaret, So i broke it down and cut several inches off the frontand back and reassembled. The stainless CP had to go, so i cut new front and control panels. I added a cpo and some controls, t molding and just today mounted the 13" monitor. The remaining artwork is just a cheap printout until i invest in the good stuff. This is where I'm at as of now:
  3. There were two arcades within driving distance of my house; pinhead amusements in Bedford pa and another pay to play place in the Westminster md mall. Both went out of business immediately after i discovered them. Apparently, i am the arcade killer.
  4. If you have a harbour freight near you, they sell a 4 piece pick set that is perfect for this. It only costs a couple bucks.
  5. Open it up, spray some tuner cleaner or deoxit in the switch, work it back and forth a few times.
  6. Huzzah! It's alive. Replaced the optical sensor with the closest match i could find and it's back in business. I'll include a screenshot of the switch i purchased if anyone is interested. You will need to trim the tabs off the sides for it to fit.
  7. Ie checking the power supply; stick the leads of the multi meter in end of the power cord while the ac adapter is powered. Black goes in the ground. I don't recall which opening is ground, So Google that first.
  8. I'd start with cleaning the power switch. A dirty switch can cause some strange issues, similar to what you're describing. If that doesn't work, test your power supply with a multi meter to see that you're getting -5v, +5v and 12v.
  9. Checked for continuity through the cables and everything checked out. Also inspected for cold solder joints and found nothing questionable.
  10. I'm guessing it's probably the sensor. I did view it with my phones camera and saw both channels on the optical switch light up, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's working. I did find someone selling dual channel, slotted optical switches, which at least size-wise look like they're compatible. If they work, I'll post a link.
  11. From what i remember reading, it's loosely based on the original.
  12. I've bought a few of these. They're top notch. Buy with confidence.
  13. So I picked up a roller controller recently and found that "down" doesn't work. When you roll the ball in the down direction, the icon on the screen goes up. Up, left and right work fine. I thought this may just be an issue with the rollers inside the controller, so I cleaned those and oiled the bearings. The controller feels nice and smooth now, but it didn't fix the issue. I cleaned the optical sensors as well with no luck. I did notice that a couple of the bearings were starting to rust, so it's possible this thing was exposed to water at some point. Anyone familiar enough with these things to know where to look for the issue?
  14. Nope, i think that's escape from the lost world.
  15. Nope, unfortunately. I bought the Ms Pac a while back before I knew any better. The cab was gutted with a 60 in 1 and an LCD monitor installed. I've restored the cabinet, but haven't done anything with the guts yet. And honestly, despite the crap they get, I actually enjoy the 60 in 1 board. I do have a G07 monitor sitting on the work bench getting recapped that will probably end up in it. The Defender is actually a scratch build running a 19 in 1 board.
  16. Paragon is on there. It's basically lost worlds big brother.
  17. Everything's better with Vectrex. Thanks you sir.
  18. Couple pics I had on my phone of the dude lair. Nothing special compared to a lot of collections on here, but, then again, I haven't set out to have a massive collection, just the stuff I enjoy. Unfortunately, I didn't have a better picture of the arcade/pinball wall. There's also a Bally Lost World that's cut off.
  19. Give cleaning the switch a shot. That's exactly what mine looked like prior to cleaning.
