I've never messed with it on my multi cart, but I always assumed there were peripherals that never got made. Unless the pen is somehow supposed to be used as a timing light...

This is a good option and works well. I use the genesis arcade stick with mine and couldn't be happier. I could never get used to the 5200's non centering analog stick and the side buttons cramp your hands when playing any kind of button masher.

Go ahead and order one of these, since the 5200 controllers are ass, even refurbished. https://www.ebay.ie/itm/274188778409

So, the wife and I moved into a bigger house late last year. The whole quarantine thing has given me some time to work on finishing the basement. The gaming/home theater section is done, minus the flooring, which we'll do at the end. The pins and arcade section is getting drywall this week.

I received mine today. Works beautifully. Thanks for making these. -
Ordered a few gamecube replacement analog sticks. Ditching that stupid yellow nub is a huge improvement, especially for fps.

I use the hyperkin adapter for my DC and couldn't be happier with how good it looks.

And after a teardown, cleaning and lubricating, there was a practically new trackball controller under 40 years of hand cheese.

Personally, I think the best option is the Edladdin adapter and genesis controller of your choice.

Be patient, you'll find a twin for well under 100 speed. You can expect any twin or stand alone disk drive to have a broken belt, unless specifically listed as being refurbished, which will up the price. Outside of the belt, there's really no other major known issues with either.
