  1. If they want tips, figure out how to make dlc and games "pay what you want". I.E. you can't download it for free (unless explicitly listed as free to start with), but can pay as little as what ever base dollar price is set by the devs. If you want, you can come back and give more later. Kind of like how Itch.io is for some games.

That solder joint on yours, to the left of the four-pin connector, looks pretty gnarly.  I'd suspect it.

    K-R.

That solder joint looks pretty buggered up to me too.

My Nanopeb is boxed up in storage right now, but i'm pretty sure that bodge-wire is not suppose to be there.

Who ever had this Nanopeb before you got it has probably tried to fix something on it, or its some sort of mod for the Nanopeb that i'm unfamiliar with.

Forgive me if this is old news, but I found this interesting blog post over at Hardcore Gaming 101:

Over 1800 Atari VCS games trawled for hidden stuff!

The key part is the PDF link embedded in the article:

Strung Out: Printable Strings in Atari 2600 Games

I'm not sure if Prof. Aycock is a member here -- his name rings a bell. Either way, there's all kinds of cool stuff, some of which is probably well-known and some of which I certainly didn't know about: source code, Apple II disk commands, love notes, and our old friend Etaoin Shrdlu.

A nice little youtube video about Etaoin Shrdlu:

... I ran a cable out from jumper 1800 externally so i could shut down, stick a jumper on it, and power up at 1800 or reverse the process to go back to 1000 ...

Interesting idea. I may actually consider this some day.

I tried it on my FinalGrom and it doesn't appear in the menu.  I tried putting it in its own folder, and also tried renaming to "gbust8.bin" to "gbustc.bin" because I think that's what the FG99 requires.  I suspect it might not like something in the GROM header?

@PeteE Too bad. I was really looking forward to this on FinalGrom.

If we do figure out how to make this work on FinalGrom, i think you should consider maybe something similar for the master title screen on the Legend Of Tilda ;-).

  6. You would think things like this get proper testing before being released as a "stable" update. I could see beta tester updates not being up to snuff, but if it's intended for every day users, there really is not much excuse for things like this.

Success! I have my desktop back.

I think I'm In the clear, at least until the next update 🙄
