  1. Well it's a good thing you are not, because it would be sad to the point of being quite petty and immature IMO to have totally skipped over the points I made to focus on the fact I didn't feel like typing out all the sequels. Then again I guess everyone sees the world sees the world differently right?
  2. I will say the I think Genesis should be worth more than it is. However, there is one Genesis related item that I never owned that has good value, a Model 1 Sega CD. I'll eventually have that combo hooked up. That's the only Sega CD combo I want. I remember how cool I thought it was the first time I saw it running CD games back in 1992. Street of Rage 2 used to has some value along with a few other games, but that's seems to fallen off recently. I don't really know what the deal is. Other than my 5200 which is special to me, I just emulate almost everything up to Jaguar on my Xbox anyway. Honestly, I can't tell much of a difference other than the controller and that allows me to focus my collection dollars of stuff my Xbox can't emulate properly do it's limitations or uniqueness of the original hardware. I have my sites set on Vectrex collecting next.
  3. No offense.. but ive seen some ugly 1st gen genesis'. anywho, why this is a wonderful theory (not really as the snes was popular too..) that doesnt explain the game prices going lower... you can have a system many people have and the systems dont move while the games do, like the gamecube. I'm sure you've seen plenty horrid looking 1st gen Sega Genesis's, but let me ask you how many good looking working SNES's do you see out there in thrift stores? Because I see far less SNES than I do Sega Genesis. You don't see the point I'm making here? Genesis is just more common point blank. The fact the games are cased as they are also makes them less collectible IMO, because it's so much harder to find SNES games complete in box and in good condition. Since it was know as a sports system I think also hurts it's library in a collectible sense. SNES has more timeless library. Few people want to play old sports game for very long, but Genesis has a lot of timeless games for me anyway. Comix Zone, the Sonics, Street of Rages, Shinobis, Vector Mans and Phantasy Stars come to mind.
  4. I think the biggest problems with the value of Sega Genesis are it was a pretty durable and very popular console. It was still pretty big until the mid 90's so there were a lot of them out there just 10 years ago. As a result, at least in my area it's easier to find a working Genesis in the wild than any other console. Also it's black so it doesn't change colors SNES or NES. Again making a good looking working Genesis even more common than it's counter parts. Lastly unlike PS1 it doesn't have moving parts. So I never think working PS1s will be as common are Sega Genesises are now.
  5. I think the problem with this idea of "phasing" out of media is assuming everyone who plays games, buys movies or music has a high speed internet connection. There are still a lot of people who buy all of these things that are still on dial and what's even harder to believe there are plenty more with no internet connection at all.
  6. That's funny because I just picked up the PSP's Smack Vs. Raw 2006 for $20 myself today. It's pretty fun even though I already played the PS2 version a lot. What's really great is you can transfer data back and forth from the PS2 version so I don't have to remake to CAW of myself. Plus I still had a ton of goals to go after. Load times are a bit brutal, but they aren't unbearable IMO.
  7. I tend believe to that. I can't believe Sony would be that stupid. Even at $600 I would buy a PS3, but if I couldn't buy used games or rent games there's no way I'm buying one until it's totally hacked.
  8. Thanks. I the games were related, but it's been a while since, I've played either.
  9. You do know there's only going to be a $500 and $600 version right?
  10. Was Fade to Black on PS1 a follow up to those games? It seems similar and it's made by the same developer.
  11. As I understand it Immerson patented the rumble technology 1st. It was meant to be used in medical equipment. However the rumble that came out in game controllers was too close to Immerson's orignal patent to not be a violation. It's probably easier just to settle and pay the licensing fees than to come up with new rumble technology which is why MS and Nintendo settled. Since 3rd parties already have to pay MS and Nintendo licensing fees to make controllers for their consoles Immerson's fees may already be covered as party of what was settled. Again I'm not sure on that since I haven't really researched it. Regardless it's a another reason for me not like Sony as a company even more. It's funny because I was a huge Sony fan for a long time.
  12. MS and Nintendo settled with Immerson. I'm sure 3rd parties did the same thing. Sony didn't want to pony up and pay what was just. It's not like Immerson was getting half of every controller sold. Just a small percentage. It's messed up Sony would try to rip them off like this. This is how that company makes a profit. They invent technology and license it for use in various products.
  13. Yeah, my advice for anyone wants to do homebrew or play burned games and is looking to get a DC off ebay for example would be to get a black sports one. That way you know for sure it will play stuff burned to CD-R. They don't really sell for that much more than a regular one.
  14. I believe November 2000 is the cut off manufactoring date for Dreamcasts that can play CD-R games. All black sports edition ones were made before then. So I knew the black DC I bought was able to play CD-R without even checking. Just check the label on the bottom of the console. I don't know the situation in Austrailia, but in the US it's probably less trouble to find a pre Nov. 2000 DC than it is to mess with installing a mod chip.
  15. Well I don't like jokes about my marriage. I take my marriage and my obligations as a husband and father quite seriously. I think the US as a country would be in a better state if more men did the same.
  16. Nah, that'll never happen. Actually you never know, but we really do have a great relationship. It's all about open communication and knowing your role. I'm the boss and she knows that. Conversely, she's the woman all I need and she knows that too. If you have a good woman who loves you, and you are faithful to her, don't abuse her or trust and do right by her she's stick by you no matter what. I learned from the mistakes of my dad with my mom.
  17. Thanks a bunch! You'll get there on your TV soon enough. 10 years ago I was in my last of college playing my PS1 on a 19" set. College was fun, but often cash was tight. The great thing is after you are out for a few years you get a chance to make some real money.
  18. yea it does... but companies like nintendo wont fallow suit, which makes them a nice option. Btw .. if you can afford all that stuff, plus games, and controllers, i have one question.... Do you have any extra room in your place for me to stay a few nights after the holiday season? LOL. You almost sound like my wife's 13 year old nephew. He would spend every weekend at our place if he could. Add add all the consoles to a 62" TV and there you go. What's funny is we literally just discussed the next time he could come up since she's about to give birth to our 1st child this week.
  19. I have a 360 already and most like will get a PS3 and Wii, because I can afford it and I like having to option of playing any game for any console that I want. They all have games that appeal to me. With that said I hope Sony fails this time, because a successful $600 mainstream console sets an ugly precendent IMO.
  20. No, it's because BJ's/Cosco and Sam's Club are supposed to sell things at a discount. Every console and handheld has a value bundle at those places.
  21. It makes sense to me. Gamecube is dirt cheap now. I've seen a used Gamecube for as cheap as $40 and even new it's just $99 with a game. Many of the best games are greatest hits. Plus the summer is a slow time for new games. If you haven't played Gamecube much all the games are new to you. So that equals lots of new great games for a low price.
  22. Exactly. 360 was the only next gen option last year. This holiday season 360s will be plentiful and a good bit cheaper. Plus there will be the even cheaper Wii. I just don't see as a high of a percentage of people will to pay double to the for a PS3. Ironically the lack of 360s helped PSP sales in my area. This time I think PS3's high price and lack of units will surely help 360 sales.
  23. You're basically getting the Charge & Play kit for free. It's an ok a deal I guess, but they are forcing PGR3 on you. PG3 isn't bad, but I'd rather get the game of my choice. Sam's Club has the same bundle without a game for $449.99.
  24. I had a DS and didn't like it so I sold it. I still have a PSP which I do play and enjoy it, but not as much as I didn't when I was 1st wowed with the graphics. I'm seeing new DS games that interest like Castlevania and New Super Mario Bros. so I'll grab a DS Lite when it hits the US. My DS playtime has been limited, but Syphon Filter Dark Mirror on PSP is still my favorite portable game at this point.
  25. I know a 40 year old Sony fanboy. He's still pretty gung ho about PS3 despite the price and lack of rumble in the controllers. It's a bit sad IMO. His plan is to buy 3 or 4 of them and try to sell all, but one on ebay to help pay for it. What's really funny was he and 2 other guys were at my house and I had my 360 going. Everyone pretty impressed with it including him, but he later went on about how great PS3 was going to be. This was before the price was announced. Plenty of hardcore Sony fanboys will want to buy the system this year, but the price will turn off a lot of people.
