Hydro Thunder, Daytona USA and 2001l, Sega Rally 2, and Star Wars: Episode One are some good racers. Vigilante 8:2nd Offense on DC is still my favorite vehicle combat game. -
the ever popular modchip questions(Org Xbox)
dalton4life replied to Zoop's topic in Modern Console Discussion
No problem Zoop. I tried to touching on the areas that I had questions with and had to figure out for myself. Most guides like you said aren't that clear. Feel free to ask more questions if you have them. Good luck, I know you'll be enjoying your softmodded Xbox. -
I use Energizer 2500mAh AA rechargables on my wireless 360 controller and I have to recharge them once a week. I average 2 hours a day using it and it has force feedback.

I'm using the linux soft mod under the Unleash-X dashboard. It's simple. Start up Splinter Cell and load up the linux profile. Just do the steps on the installer page. You must only have the hacked Splinter Cell saves on your hard drive. Any other Splinter Cell save will mess it up. One is a profile and the other is the linux install. You will have to put them on your hard drive one at a time because the memory card is not big enough for both of them. Xbox media center is a program you'd want to have after your softmod is running so you can play avi, xvid, divx, mpg, and wmv. As far as emulators go I found it easier to download ready made discs that have the emulators and roms on them already. Just look for "Big Ass Emulator Disc" on the bit torrents or the newsgroups or just search Xbox and whatever you want to emulate. I have pretty much everything the Xbox can emulate on 4 DVDs. The N64 one is called Surreal 64, but like Shannon said N64 emulation isn't perfect. So I stick to MAME, SNES and lower. I hear the PS1 emulation works well too, but never tried it. If you are bent on putting the ROMs and emulator yourself this a good site the the emulators. http://www.zophar.net/consoles/xbox.html I won't give out links to the ROMs. here are the saves I used. Unzipped once so you have 2 zipped Splinter cell saves. Do not unzip though. http://www.angelfire.com/ga3/dalton4life/Splinter.htm this is from a short "guide" I followed although a different game was used it's pretty much the same thing.. Steps: 1. ok in order to softmod your xbox u need to no how to use xbins. a tutorial on how to do that is here> http://www.xbox-scene.com/articles/xbins.php 2. ok now connect to xbins using flash fxp, now double click on the folder that says "xbox" (on the right hand side), now the one that says "exploits", now "packages", now "Krayzie Uxe Installer", now drag'n drop the readme file and the desiered gamesave to the half that has all of your PC files [the readme file is for you to read] 3. now using action replay, or the desired aplication, add the gamesave to your memorycard. 4. now copy the gamesave, from your memory card, to your xbox's hard drive 5. [ok this is were it might get a little bit different but from here out i used the game MA soo the rest of the guide will be for the game MA]now put the game MA in your disc tray, and turn off your xbox. 6. now turn on your xbox 7. the game MA should of started, now go to camapain and select run linux 8. now i recommend to choose english but it is up to you 9. before you do annything make sure YOU BACK UP YOUR EEPROM [if you don't, and something goes wrong then you will probally never play on that xbox again! soo trust me and do the back up] 10. now select install sofmod, and it should go to this loading screen, and trust me be patient, it takes a while 11. now it should ask u what sort of patcher do u want the choice is up to you but if you want to no which one i chose; i chose the one on the bottom 12. after that it should ask u which dashboard do u want, again the choice is up to you but i personally like evox, but it is up to u 13. now the xbox should poweroff[don't make it, it should do it automaticly] 14. now press the small button, then the big button, remmove the disk, and the big button again. 15. now your dashboard of your choice should have loaded 16. now this is were u jump up and down, dance, and yell as loud as u can, cause now, u, have....a....modded... . . .XBOX! To turn sofmod off: 1. run linux again, off the campain menu of MA 2. choose softmod on/off and follow directions -
I don't think that's the case. I've seen plenty of non working DVD and CD players that were less than a couple of years old.

It should create a folder on the HDD, but FTP may be able to come into play. -

When you start the softmod process you'll get to the softmod installer screen. The softmod is not installed at this point. Select create up MS Backup before going any further. After the soft mod is installed you can boot the Xbox with the disc tray open to get back to that installer screen. You can then select restore MS backup. -

I softmodded about 5 Xboxes using AR with no corruption problems. There are options to back up your MS dashboard to the harddrive in case you want to undo the softmod. AR is cheaper too. It paid $25 for mine. I paid $10 for a used copy of Splinter Cell. So you can have a modded Xbox for less than $40. -

Did you unzip the saves when you tried dragging them onto the memory card? I know they have to remain zipped. The AR card worked fine for me. I even did it for a few other people with no problems. -

You can soft mod an Xbox in 10 minutes. If it's not going to be on Live there is no reason not to softmod your Xbox. It the cheapest, easiest and fastest mod you can do. Softmodding is a pain if you want to install a bigger HDD, but since you want to burn everything that doesn't matter. I used Splinter Cell and you have to make sure you use the right save for you region. A PAL save won't work on an NTSC Xbox. I had to find that out the hard way. Also it's hard to find the saves, but not impossible and I have the Splinter Cell saves if you need them. This is what you need: -the game, I used Splinter Cell -hacked game saves -Action Replay Max (it easiest way to do this since it comes with the Memory Card and what you need to get the saves from you computer to the memory card.) -
Anyone else waiting for the DS lite?
dalton4life replied to Cybergoth's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I sold my DS but was thinking about getting another one. I'd definately wait on the DS Lite after seeing that comparision. Being colorblind I need a really bright screen to make thinks look better. For example I could barely tell the Gameboy Color had any color to the screen at all. -
Consoles will always be more powerful than portables and provide and exeriences portables can't match. That's why consoles will always be more popular with me. However I do see a not too distant future where many people carry a portable all in one device that surfs the web, plays music and video files, plays games close the current consoles quality, has a battery life comparable to cell phones, and most importantly is durable enough to be be dropped on the ground with little worries.

That is hard, but I like it. SMB games are usually pretty easy so it's cool to see a hard one. It's one of my top NES ROMs that I play on PSP along with Kid Icarus with is an insanely hard game, but since you can save states in emuation that makes them both a lot easier.
-
I don't like a game to be too difficult because that's where it ceases being fun and starts becoming aggrevating. Ghouls and Ghost is the only game mentioned I found to be hard the rest are pretty easy for me. On a related note I don't like games that are too long. I don't have the time to game that I once did, but I still like beating games so I prefer those that take me less than 20 hours to be. RE4 fits right in there.

Is Riddick: EfBB really as good as they say it is?
dalton4life replied to Room 34's topic in Modern Console Discussion
It's a must have title for Xbox especially if you like adventure games. It has graphics that could not be done on a PS2 and probably not on a Gamecube either, a pretty good story, and nice a blend of adventure and FPS elements. This game sucked me in an made me feel like I was in the story. That's what I want from an adventure type game. I don't think this game came out when the movie was released. I believe it's developers trying to meet theatrical release deadlines and following a script too closely that lead to movie games usually sucking so much. The 2nd Hulk game, Ultimate Destruction was loosey based on the movie but was much better than the 1st game. The same could be said for Teminator 3 Redemption or Matrix Path of Neo. All those games came out a good while after the theatrical release of the movies on which they are based. Best of all I saw it used for $10 at Gamestop yesterday. -
The worst PS2 game you've played?

Black and Bruised. I love boxing games and this one looked cool, but it was horrible. -
I can't believe there's going to be a collector's edition for $70. http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/product/259303.asp

You should get component cables if you have an HD TV. They are $40. The 360 won't look right on HD with the composite cables that come with the Core . Wireless controllers aren't necessary, but are so much better. I'd at least get one and keep the wired for your player 2 controller. I bought a Core almost 2 months ago, because it's all I could find and I was thrilled to even find it.

The Jag's library was tiny for most of it's life when compared to the amount for games for it now. What that said it's not like it has a big library. Many people seem to forget many of the best titles were released after the Jag was already "dead" commercially. Lastly, I think not launching with Tempest 2K was a big mistake on Atari's part.
-
I agree on Tempest 2000. The Jaguar is my favorite to collect for do to it's rareness and I think Jaguar had the best game boxes. I can think of at least 10 good games that are pretty cheap so there's plenty to play without breaking the bank.

Is 5200 Monzuma's Revenge worth this much?
dalton4life replied to RandomPerson's topic in Auction Central
I found a nice copy for about $26. Why not try for this one? I serious doubt it's going to hit $40, but you never know. http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8262635129 -

I have an art background, but never got into 3D modeling. I think it's exciting how they are bringing it to the masses in a limited form via videogames. I'm really looking forward to what's on coming on the horizon. -
In a nutshell 1024761[/snapback] Fight Night Round 3 is the start of 360 games looking far beyond "slightly" better than anything Xbox can do.
