1. N64 was the 1st console for Nintendo to be release and not dominate. What's sad is although I don't have numbers it seems N64 did much better than gamecube in terms of popularity. It had several games that made people go out and buy N64s. SMB 64, Wave Race, Goldeneye, The 2 Zeldas and Super Smash Bros come to mind and there's plenty more. The only GC game I can think of like that was Resident Evil 4 and it eventually came out on PS2 anyway.
2. Comix Zone is my favorite genesis game. I haven't played a game quite like it since in the way it used comic book panels. Ultimate Spider-man did it somewhat but it was just cut scene stuff. others include: Sonic 1,2,3 Sonic Spinball Sonic 3d Blast Street of Rage 1,2 Evander Holyfield Real Deal Boxing Lakers Vs. Celtics Madden 93 NHL 92 Goden Axe 1,2,3 Tommy Lasorda Baseball And finally I'll always have a soft spot for Altered Beast because it was the first game I ever saw when the Genesis launched. It really did wow me back then.
3. In addition to games, you can also download music, books and movies for free - why buy anything? 1004394 One reason is many people like putting the media they buy on display whether it's books, music cds, dvds or video games. Many like actual materials that have packaging, art and maybe other extra. Itunes is an exception. On a side note I think most people who know how to download stuff they are somewhat interested in but have no passion for download it instead or buying or renting it. The good news for Gametap though is most people don't know anything about downloading emulators and ROMs.
4. I picked up the Jan OXM. I didn't get than into the Full Auto Demo although I thought the graphics were top notch. Now my friend really liked it. So I'm going to give it a another try it again now that I watched him play it and saw how he was doing it. I hate the thought of trading in games but I am really fighting the urge to trade some in PS2 and Xbox games to get a couple of new 360 games but I know I'd regret it years later.
5. This game shocked the heck out of me. I tried it out in Best Buy today. After I figured it out my fiancee told me I had a small crowd of people watching me play. I was totally oblivious because I was that into the game. I kind of liked Parappa the Rapper back on the PS1 but comparing the two would be like comparing Resident Evil 1 to Resident 4 IMO. It's a great music/rythum game. The only bad point is the price at $70 with guitar controller.
6. I didn't notice the other thread on this so a mod can delete this one. Again it shows you how go this game is.
7. Can I get the demo without a hard drive? I don't have one yet.
8. I have a non HD projection TV and some parts were too dark to see what's going on normal brightness. It was ok when I turned my TV's brightness all the way up. It's pretty impressive and some parts reminded me a lot of Jurassic Park.
9. Thanks. It's good to be it. I've only had an orginal Xbox for a few months and now here I go with the 360. Until last year I was strictly PS2 and classic systems so I've been playing Xbox catch up. I'll usually chose a console to focus on during a generation and buy the others when they get cheap. It's likely though I'll get the PS3 and Revolution whenever they come out except I'll know to pre-order PS3 as soon as stores start taking orders. 1003417 Are you going to join Xbox Live? My gamertag is beets if you are looking to play ever. 1003770 I probably will in within the month. I finally bought an Ethernet cable long enough to reach my consoles in the living room from my router in another room. I mainly bought for FTPing to my original Xbox. Live looks good with the 360 if just to check out the demos. My first experience of non PC online gaming has been with the PSP and I've been having a lot of fun with that.
10. Nintendo has already stated that they are courting third party developers for their back catalog of Nintendo system games as well. While they probably won't be able to get all of them, I'm sure we'll see at least a few third party titles. 1003536 We'll have to wait and see which titles will be available since it's speculation at this point. Online play of the classics is the selling point to me since I already have all the NES, SNES and N64 games (except Dr. Mario) that I'd ever want.
11. The Darth Vader 2600 although my Dad my bought a Pong for himself a few years earlier.
12. SF II, Mortal Kombat and Tekken should all be replaced by Karate Champ. Wasn't this the game that really started the kung-fu fighting arcade game trend? After this game was popular they started filling arcades with fighting games. What about BattleZone or I Robot, the first use of 3D polygonal environments in games. 992864 But that's like saying Wolfenstein should be a top game since it was the first FPS when Doom get so much credit for being the 1st hit FPS. I liked Karate Champ but Street Fighter II set the arcade world on fire. Karate Champ didn't even remotely come close to that.
13. Dreamcast Keyboard for Typing of the Dead, Dreamcast Fishing Controller and Virtual Boy. Last but not least my Epochman handheld which I traded for with an AA member.
14. I think it's a cool concept for the general public, but it's a bit a hard sell IMO to those who have been doing emulation on their PCs for years for free albeit not legally. No one's really cared about the legality of emulating old games because no one was selling them until now.
15. The main problem I see with the downloading the legacy games is that you'll only be able to download the ones made by Nintendo. It would make sense if that's the case. Most of the Nintendo made game are truly great, but having Nintendo only games leaves out many of the best games for each system.
16. Do you know how much you have to put down? I'm unfornuately tapped out until next week but if I can I will place my pre orders next week. BTW I got the Kiosk disc working. I blew through the Call of Duty 2 demo and played the King Kong a little bit.
17. Thanks. It's good to be it. I've only had an orginal Xbox for a few months and now here I go with the 360. Until last year I was strictly PS2 and classic systems so I've been playing Xbox catch up. I'll usually chose a console to focus on during a generation and buy the others when they get cheap. 18. Thanks a lot man. I appreciate it. It felt great buying it! Call of Duty 2 is my must have game. I will probaby get one or 2 more beside that. I'm considering Condemned: Criminal Origins, Madden 06, DOA 4 and Kameo: Elements of Power. It just slightly sucks having to wait a week or before I really can get playing it but I hope I can at least get the Call of Duty 2 demo working tonight. If not I'm going to pick up whatever Xbox magazine I saw today that had a 360 Call of Duty 2 demo on it tomorrow.
19. I was in there just browsing but I was about to sit down start playing NBA 2K6 on the couch set up there when a worker told me they had one Core in stock. I asked him could he hold it for 15 minutes while I went to get the cash. I had to give them $8 in quarters but I left with my new 360. I'm going to download the Kiosk disc tonight since I heard that was bootable and hope to get buy a couple of games and a HD in a week or 2.
20. I think Star Wars games sold so well in 2005 because of Revenge of the Sith being in theatres. Sports games have been among the top selling games in the US for years. No shocker there IMO.
21. I had a DS for a little while and it never really did anything for me, but I'll admit I liked Nintendogs quite a bit. My PSP on the other hand has seen a lot use since I bought it back in July. I've enjoyed most of the PSP games I've tried and emulation is the big extra bonus. It comes down to tastes and both have good and bad games. Now with graphics and sound it's no contest. DS is ok while PSP is amazing as far graphics and screens go.
22. Having played it I can tell you would there was a lot of text in it and it was all Japanese with no english option that I could find.
23. Great game no doubt. I love that type of game and it's done very well.
24. Maybe Nolan Bushnell will finally get a shot to own Atari again.
25. The Chronicals of Riddick Far Cry Instincts DOA Ultimate Crimson Skies Half Life Top Spin Fable 1 Doom 3
