I am having a good time with this emulator although it's still a bit buggy. A 1.50 PSP is about as good as it gets with gaming as far as I am concerned. I can play Roms from about 10 different systems I grew up on plus new PSP games to boot. And all portable... Hell yeah!

Kaboom didn't work (it froze) all but since there is a port already I guess it doesn't matter. This emulalor needs some work but it's still cool.

Horizontal. I don't like it vertical because it looks like an old gigantic cable modem to me when it's like that.

Hello,I read that the Action Replay Max for the PS2 contains a emulator for playing Sega Genesis/Megadrive ROMs. I can't find much information about it though.
Does anybody know if it is any good? Anybody has experience with it?
Altough I'd prefer 'the real thing', it could be handy to play hard to obtain titles.
Best regards,
Vincent
I don't know anything about the AR Max but I do know of a Genesis emulation for PS2. I've used it and it plays decently.
Here's all the PS2 emulator out there that I know of. You need a mod chip or swap disc to boot most of them up.

I've never been a big Mega Man fan but I still has a soft spot for Mega Man II on the NES. Something just rang right with that one.

I've always found it interesting that Sony makes gaming systems that are prone to problems and has terrible customer support when it comes to correcting those problems. But despite this, people snap the systems up anyway and can't wait to put several hundred dollars more into the next generation of Sony gaming.PSX.. so what if you have to turn it upside down to play FMV on games.
PS2... just ignore all those disk read errors.
PS2 Slim... naw, no overheating problems at all and a cooling fan isn't necessary.
PSP... hey, 11 dead pixels on your screen is totally acceptable and you should be happy there aren't 12 dead pixels.
I've always had good luck with all my Sega systems, from Genesis to DC. Great systems, great games. I still find it hard to believe that the DC got as little customer support as it did. But in the end, I'll always believe the DC is the superior system over PS2 and Xbox simply because I've enjoyed the DC so much more.

I've had 4 Dreamcasts and they all had some type of disc read issue at some point. My current DC, a black sports edition is hanging in there but I don't play it anywhere as near as much as I did when sega was still making games for it.

What? You taped it to your crotch? Interesting strategy, I may have to try taping things to my genitals to get plenty of upgrades.
Well just don't rip the tape off and I meant to crouch not crotch.
-
Better yet, when I left it on over night I taped the D Pad down to crotch and the fire button to fire and left my Rygar sitting in a corner killing stuff so I had pleny of upgrades when I started playing again.
-
Cograts I beat it over 15 years ago and it took me a couple of days. I know I left my NES on over night. That game needed a save bad even if someone beat it in a half hour. It still one of my favorite NES games.

Well there's V-Tetris. It's a Japan only title but easily found on ebay for pretty cheap and it's regular Tetris with some funky backgrounds.

Madden is the only NFL game you are going to see for the next 5 five years. I think ESPN NFL 2K5 could possibly be collectable down the road since that was the only game to really just bitch slap Madden all over the place and then disappear.
-
I like Madden but I am looking forard to Blitz. Despite not having a NFL license it looks like it's going to put a more real world spin on the game of football with their various drug charges and baby mama drama incidents.

Yep. The DS is different more out there with original stuff. Eventhough I am pleased with my PSP for gaming purposes, the more I think about it more the I think the PSP was just Sony's way of trying to get UMD movies out there kind of like a Trojan horse.
-
I'm in the minority I guess because I don't mind a few ports. I'd like more original games as well but I'm not complaining yet. I don't have the time to sit down and play my consoles like I used to so with the PSP has been great for me. Of course I know that's not the case with everyone.
-
Yeah the PSP is going through a bad game drought like the DS did early on. Only with the DS you knew some killer stuff was on the way. I really haven't even seen a lot of news on any new psp games, let alone killer ones. I know a lot of people are looking forward to burnout legends but isn't that comming to DS as well? Two big ones people seem to be waiting on are GTA: Liberty Stories and the one I am eagerly looking forward to, Virtua Tennis World Tour. The PSP Fight Night and WWE Smackdown games look promising plus there is a PSP Final Fantasy 7 movie and FF game coming soon. I have 8 PSP games now and it's been my most played gaming device since I bought it with 60% of my PSP gaming going to PSP games and 40% to homebrew.

Don't know of any 200 emulators yet but there is a Kaboom game out.

I don't think the Dreamcast could be a thriving console today. I love my Dreamcast and think it has the highest percentage of quality games vs. crap games but it's techology would really look old next to and any of the 3 console today especially Xbox. It would lbe ike trying to put a 5200 against an NES or Sega Master System. While Sony has been able to survive on top for years with inferior hardware Sony has two thing Sega hasn't had for over a decaded, confidence in the company from the public and good marketing. It all goes back to one simple truth. Sega had a great thing going once and totally screwed it up. Life goes on.

I feel it's the other way around. Old arcade classic are great for just picking and playing for a few minutes as you often would with a handheld. I don't know about a Gameboy or DS but the PSP can handle them just fine. My most played NES Roms on my PSP are arcade classics: Marble Madness, Gyrus, Galaga, Dig Dug and Pac-man. I have to add the Nintendo version of Tetris to that list although it was originally an arcade game too. The PSP screen show everything great.
-
I don't know if thye still show them but G4 had a few episodes of Icons featuring Atari that I taped. It was really cool to watch old Atari commecial but I haven't seen anything like that on there in a while. The channel kinda does suck especially when it taken the place of Tech TV but it's nice to see people on TV once in a while talking about just video games.

I've been doing the emulation thing big time lately on my PSP and the noticed that Afterburner II, Space Harrier and Outrun all seem better on the Turbo Graphx 16. Graphic wise I'd get a slight edge to the Genesis but the sound is was better on the Turbo Graphx 16. Gradius, Galaga 90 and Xevious are some other classics that are done well.

That's really nice. I could use something like that but I know I'd never make it. I'm trying to figure out a way to store/display my Lynx cards at least.

I took a picture for a post on another forum when surprisingly Lynx emulation came up. Anyway here it is.

I may pick this one up this weekend. You are supposed to share this one so maybe I can take on my fiancee in it or whoever comes to visit. We both have PSPs.
