I play a large number of ZX81 and ZX Spectrum homebrew titles and with the homebrew scene also reaching into the SEGA and Nintendo machine range, I was wondering if there are any NeoGeo homebrew games out there? I understand these would be emulation only due to hardware, but that's fine with me as owning a NeoGeo is a long way off.

Hey Rod,
Thank you for stopping by and posting your playthrough and listening to what you had to say about Last Resort. Glad it was to your liking bro. We would love to see more Neo-Geo content from you soon.
Like your review with Neo Turf Masters next. An excellent Golf title that will make you a buff of it the moment to tee off.

Thank you again kind sir. Keep up the great work as always.

Anthony...
Certainly will, though I can't promise I'll be any good at it

Albeit I felt slightly ripped off with the high score
the animation in Nightmare in the Dark is fantastic and the game itself is extremely easy to pick up. Glad I entered the competition really just because I found this title

I'm currently getting a lot of help getting Swap_Magic up and running on my PS2 so hopefully I'll have that disc up and running soon.
However I've now got FB Alpha up and running thanks to pointers on these boards and Flojomojo's direction to.
I'm having fun
I can't wait for Swap Magic to work
Hi guys,
Back with new Atariage member Villordsutch. Here we see the kind sir receiving something nice in the mail. I wonder what it is?

From the description,
"All the way from America comes a retrogaming present from Charlie Cat
I'm in need for some McBoot assistance if anyone has experience in it? Ta "

This has been useful. I'll remove MAME and head for Final Burn Alpha now as pointed towards. Thanks for this. I've already got a number of separate emulators so in truth MAME is a weighty addition for just Neo-Geo, so thanks for highlighting this.
I'm off to get it now

-
I downloaded the latest version of MAME64 so this could be the reason why I'm getting said messages. I'm running Win 10 (64bit) and my final want is to play some Neo-Geo titles. It's been so long since I used Mame I can't remember A from B about it.
As I was more into "downloading" roms etc. in the past I remember it all being a breeze, but I'm looking it now and scratching my head.
I'm now coming from ZX81, ZX Spectrum, NES emlators where I open the emulator and point at the location of the rom and I'm away. I've set to download the Mameui should I also grab the TV/PLAY front end too? -
Hello all,
I'm returning to MAME after a longtime away and I'm having issues straight away. I know it's not MAME, it's clearly me, so I'd appreciate any help I can get in getting this up and running.
If I select a highlighted title from a working machine I get the message.
"The Selected Machine is missing or more required ROM or CHD images. Please Select a different machine."
No matter which game I pick.
I can't see any option to fix this and I'm looking to get some Neo-Geo titles up and running.
Can anyone possibly give me some pointers?Thank you,
-
Good to know Villo.

SNK NTSC region versions don't cost as much compared to the PAL versions I see as of late. If the McBoot works on your PS2, that would be great.
Now as for a good emulator to play Neo-Geo titles, MAME is a top one that comes to peoples mind since its a popular emulator. and been out there for a while The next one would be Nebula. That's another good one as well.
Hope this helps you Villo. Thank you for posting with us.

Anthony..
Right I'll get MAME installed now. I've used this in the past a couple of years back so hopefully I'll be able to work my way around it without to much fuss.

Hi Villo,
Thank you for enlisting onto Atariage and participating on the Neo-Geo thread. Welcome aboard kind sir.

We are certainly excited that you have an interest towards the Neo-Geo. So many of timeless classics for you to enjoy. I'm sure we can help you out with suggestions on good games for you to pick up or play for your entertaining needs. Yes...we don't mock others because you don't have original hardware. As long as your having a blast playing Neo-Geo on by other means of playing them, it's perfectly fine with us. So no worries my good man.

Seeing that you have a Playstation 2, I would recommend like fellow Atariage member Dreamcast Gamer mentioned. The SNK Arcade Classics Vol.1 for the console. A great compilation of SNK's top picks and favorites from the unit that made the Neo-Geo what it is. As for other SNK compilations for the PS2, here's as follows.
Fatal Fury Battle Archives Vol. 1 and 2
Art of Fighting Anthology
World Heroes Anthology
Metal Slug Anthology
Samurai Shodown Anthology.
Now as far as gamesto play right now. off emulation, I would recommend playing my favorite title, which is "Magician Lord" an early launch title for the Neo-Geo that's very challenging, but very enjoyable to play. Now here's a list of other games you should try as well as for starters
NAM-1975
King of the Monsters
League Bowling
Last Resort
Windjammers
Street Slam
I think this will get you off in the right direction Villo.

Thank you for posting with us kind sir. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to write away for us to see. Will be glad to answer them as best and quickly as possible.
Seen you soon Villo. Enjoy these great selection of games and have fun through out the Atariage forums.

Anthony..
Right there's a few titles to take to eBay to see if I can pick any up for my PS2. Hopefully they won't worry the bank account.
As for an emulator. Is there one I should look out for?

Hello to you all,
I'm totally new to the Neo-Geo universe but it was suggested (by Fdurso) that I give it a blast for my YouTube channel. Normally I go through ZX81 and ZX Spectrum games (with the occasionally old Tech and PS2 game piece creeping in). I'm rather well versed in a number of classic machines however - as a child - seeing the Neo-Geo in the computer magazines (I bought) was always a pipe dream, with wonders of what an actual £150 game would actually play like.
I've looked on eBay and still today the prices are far to high for me to invest in one, but I'm lead to believe that there isn't any snobbery when it comes to emulation of the Neo-Geo. I know it would be great to use the actual machine, but honestly unless I find one in a local Charity Shop or on a Carboot Sale I truthfully don't think I'd be able to pick one up.
So I'm interested in giving the Neo-Geo a good blast. I'm new to the machine, I'll be looking for a decent emulator and a list of games that won't find me instantly hating the pseudo-machine. I know this may frustrate some players and I consider FFVII as one of my favourites, but suggesting 29+ hour long JRPG's won't make me a happy gamer. They may be groundbreaking, but to me...
Any help, advice, pointers etc would be greatly appreciated. I shan't spam my channel link here in the opening introduction, but I'm going to set up my profile and I'll see if I can drop it into my signature their if anyone wants to take a watch.
So hello and thank you for any help you can pass on.-
