I can see the scene in my head now...
*sits down, grabs joystick, looks at TV*
"Daaaaaaaaaaamn. The 2600 had better graphics than I remember..."
*hits joystick button and nothing happens"
"...and 5200-calibur joystick response!"

I'm pretty stoked for this one actually. These are some of my favorite arcade games. I still drop quarters into Hydro Thunder every time I see one. Hopefully they have good racing wheel support!!
I played the crap out of Treasures 1, but have only played 2 a couple times, despite liking the games list... the reason you ask? Damn MAME cab...

I think the Colecovision is overrated. Atari had a better machine in the 5200.
-
Got a 2600 Track & Field loose not too far back for $.80.
-
This is true!
I just could grab a couple for nothing (might anyways) and was wondering if they were "Atari Standard" or not!

Nope. I was mired in 2600 land.
I remember the commercials tho... I was so jealous of that version of Pac-Man.
I finally snagged a couple 5200's at the thrift shop probably 10 years later.

I picked up the AtariAge Super Pacman and Millipede reissues some time back and love them. It seems they did a few more I'd really like, like DK, DKJr and Tapper, but now they're no longer made. Anyone know of a way to aquire these?

Bad trade.
NES and SNES consoles are a dime a dozen. A NES top loader is harder than hell to track down for a fair price.
-
The NES works with any old power supply. I used my SEGA one for years, and a buddy of mine uses one off of an old desktop calculator! I don't know if that's really good for your NES, but mine never died, so...

The Highlander game was on Jaguar CD.
And I'd hold out for a top-loading FZ-10 model 3DO... the FZ1 loves to break down.
-
I almost never get lucky at the thrift stores anymore. Seems like even if you do find anything, it's not exactly a bargain.
-
... with a 2600/7800/anything else?
They're so neat.
Even if the rest of the system is a bit blah...

32X won't work with NOMAD.
I tried it one day when I was really bored. They just won't fit together.
It may be technically possible if you want to start chopping off plastic casing...
-
The Power Base Converter will work on a Genesis 2 and CDX... if you remove the plastic case it's in. It won't work through the 32X (which will also work on the CDX, no matter what SEGA printed on the box) or on the NOMAD.

I like the category view... so I'll do one too.
Adventure/RPG - SNES has Zelda and Final Fantasy 3, Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, Illusion of Gaia and about a dozen others, Genesis has Phantasy Star 2 and 4. Advantage, SNES.
Action/Adventure - Did the SNES ever have a better side scrolling adventure game than Super Castlevania 4? No. But the Genesis had 3 Shinobi titles, and the 3rd one was AMAZING. Genesis.
Sports - All the same games but SEGA does 'em better. Genesis.
Fighters - The SNES controller sucked for fighters, but on a one for one basis the SNES games were generally a tad better... so... TIE.
Shooters. Genesis does shooters. The SNES had a couple nice versions of R-Type and Gradius 3. Genesis.
Brawlers - SNES had a couple good ones... Battletoads, Super Double Dragon... but SEGA had Streets of Rage 2... not to mention SoR 1 & 3 and Golden Axe 1 & 2. Genesis.
Strategy - Herzog Zwei was awesome. Genesis.
Puzzle - Tetris/Dr Mario is a tough act to follow... SNES.
Racing - Can any 16 bit racer touch Virtua Racing? No. Genesis.
Multiplayer games - The SNES has the Genesis here, with Super Bomberman 2 (Genesis had Mega Bomberman) and Mario Kart being the best 2-4 player games ever.
