Apparently the C64 Mini is on sale for $40 on Amazon right now.

I got mine from Gamestop and have been playing quite a bit. I like that it is so quick & easy to load the games.
Joystick is not great, but I've solved that with an old Gravis Gamepad PRO.
To me it's a great value at $30. I look forward to the full size version. It might just be that I am nostalgic about the C64. I owned one for many years. It was a great early 8 bit computer. -

Keep rearranging my home, but I think we've finally settled on the half-converted attic becoming a library/office. Would also be a nice place to put my retrogame room, if only CRTs weren't 5 million tons and would have to go up stairs.

Anybody else played TIS-100? Friend gifted it to me and I'm hooked.

Everybody else is like "Look at Sarah Conner in this new Terminator trailer!" and I'm over here thinking "That's a weird cover of a Björk song."

Pulled out ye olde record player and listening to Close to the Edge by Yes.

I've gotten so good at replacing parts to repair my son's Joy Cons for his Switch, that I'm seriously considering charging other people to do it.

Friend just dropped off four 5200 controllers he found. First two I tested so far actually seem to work. Maybe I should buy a lottery ticket.

You can tell how bad off Sears is by the fact that they can't afford anybody who understand proper image compression to handle their website.

Accidentally discovered the Dell.com business store still sells brand-new 56K modems.

TIL The original concept for Missile Command had the incoming missiles only visible during a radar "sweep." https://arcadeblogger.com/2016/07/29/the-secret-history-of-the-arcade-trackball/

I never got Sinistar's fixation with Ron Howard.

Replaying Final Fantasy IX and not enjoying it much. Gameplay is great, but there's so much talking in between...

Got PS1 working on my RetroPie and playing Wizardry Llygamyn Saga again. Going to beat it this time, I promise.

Who's Lori Loughlin's lawyer? Cause I wanna make sure I never hire him.

Nobody really figured out a puzzle game like Tetris that works well in single player, did they?

I need to finally break down and get gold refurbed 5200 controllers. Tired of my 5200 sitting in a box being frustrating.

I'm sure there's an excellent reason why replacement crisper drawers for refrigerators are so expensive.

Continuity is overrated.

Family's asleep. Time to pull out the headphones, XMPlay, my MOD collection and pretend it's 1993 again.

So that Tazo chai latte mix you can grab for just under three dollars at Walmart isn’t bad at all.

Just ordered some pants from kmart.com. Hope it gets here before they go under.

Looks like Sega Ages Outrun has released on Switch. Looking forward to trying it tonight or tomorrow.

The praise is because they're very tastefully enhanced. Thunderforce IV has an option to disable slowdown (or at least slowdown the developers didn't design around), a "kid's mode" that makes it easier, sound tweaks (keep music from dropping out when audio samples play), etc. Phantasy Star has an automap added for dungeons among others. And all the extra features are optional and can be turned off.

The SEGA AGES version is the only way I'll ever put up with this game and complete it (as I have always wanted to).
Good explainer of the differences here:

@deepthaw "tastefully enhanced" is a nice way to say it.

If professional baseball players can deal with some games having a designated hitter and some not, and every stadium being a different size with sometimes wildly different chances of hitting a homerun, why do professional Smash players have to turn off everything that makes the game interesting?

Are headlights unreasonably difficult to change on all cars, or just my Mazda 6?
