  1. The Analogue Mega Sg is a amazing product. I love mine so much. Even more so then the Super Nt. I would like the"Sega Love" to continue. Any chance of the Sega Saturn?

If you would have told my child-self at the age of 12 & 14 (89 and 91 - Genesis & SNES release) that one day Id have both systems in their current format Super NT & Mega SG, I would have NEVER believed it. I still own every single cart I bought for my ColecoVision, NES, and SNES - I was a late adopter of the Genesis and 32x.

I need to locate a good Model 2 Sega CD to complete my collection.

The Sega Saturn was the console that killed my confidence in Sega. Not because it was a bad console because it wasnt IMO at the time. But Ill never forget standing in a magazine section as I did so many times at a grocery store reading an EGM (or another gaming mag) not long after I had bought the Saturn and reading that Sega was discontinuing support, and it made me very frustrated.

Yet I bought the Dreamcast on release day and still think of it as one of the best consoles Ive ever owned - unfortunately I didnt trust Sega much at that point.

  2. I cannot remember in the last 10 years, a console or video game item that is at the level of allurement that the NT Mini has reached. To compare it to my childhood it reminds me of what it was like to own a Michael Jordan rookie card - unfortunately I never owned one of those, but I do own the video game equivalent - Analogue NT Mini.

I know you folks want all these cores on the Super NT & Mega SG, but if you get them Im afraid I wont look on eBay and see someone selling a NT Mini for $1800-$2200. With that, I always feel assured in case of a global economic meltdown or zombie apocalypse, that I could sell the NT Mini to feed my family for at least 6 months. I have five children, so dont ruin my nest-egg by coring-up those other consoles. Oh wait, the SG has 4 cores - were doomed, were all doomed I tell ya.

Just joking - I hope you all get what you wish. Im just grateful to be able to own all three systems and thankful for the work Kevtris and others have put in.

  3.

From my understanding, the no-intro romset is the entire basis of the Smokemonster packs (which is basically just taking it and duping the roms across multiple categories).

Which particular games didn't work out of curiosity? The current version of the Mega EverDrive Pack is v7.0.7. That what you're using?

NE146 - Ive personally had no issues but what had me concerned was this:

Been playing around with the JB and find the smoke monster mega everdrive genesis roms pack is hit and miss. As they said in the pdf the No Intro Roms work nearly 100%.

So this quote above from RetrogamerX is what I was referencing. Id like to know if anyone else has had a hit or miss experience like RGX. Hopefully Ive made sense.

  4. Awesome! Last year I got my Super Nt the same day as the JB released too. There was no delay in shipping out... just a slow carrier that took a full week to deliver our two systems. Was fuming because we paid so much for shipping and the second one was being re-shipped to someone who specifically did not want to wait (added even more time).

Now Im trying to consider do I want to part ways with my Smokemonster Everdrive Pack in favor of the No Intro Romsets since the former was mentioned as the favorable set for the Mega SG.

Ive stood with the SMPs for my Mini NT and Super NT, but I honestly have some work to do to find the most up-to-date No-Intro set if Im gonna make the change for the Mega SG. I was very surprised to read that the SmokeMonster Everdrive Pack was hit or miss for the SG

  5. Tried my Mega Sg for a bit tonight with the jailbreak. It's really fantastic so far.

A minor quibble: Does anyone else find the mechanics of the power button to be kind of odd? I have to press it on either the left or right side for it to work. Pressing it in the middle does nothing. I guess this could be due to the LED being in the middle of the button?

After a night of pretty intense gameplay and tinkering, the question did come across my mind as I looked at the power button for the Mini NT vs. Super NT vs. Mega SG

I have a bit of concern about how durable this versions power button will be over the years. To me personally I love the Super NTs power button much more than the Mini NT or Mega SG, but thats just me.

  6. JPN version of the Mega SG just arrived in replacement of the USA version which was “out of stock.”

I was not concerned with whatever version I might receive, just after the issues with shipment I was thankful to get what I paid for. Now, I just hope this will all work as intended.

  7. Hmm. Its probably caught up in the warehouse move or inventory transfer or whatever they were talking about in that other email. I hope its on the way but it doesnt look good. :(

Not sure if FedEx notifications work like USPS Informed Delivery but it might let you know when someone sends a package to your address even without the tracking number. Id look into it.

FedEx has a program called InSight, however they will only let you determine inbound packages if you have the outbound (shippers) FedEx account number.

Weve used USPS Informed Delivery and UPS My Choice for the purpose of determining inbound packages for a while, and its a helpful service in our business when cross-shipping to determine if someone has indeed began their side of an exchange.

I am simply in a position now where all I can do is to wait and see. Theres any number of scenarios, with this new shipment and only a small number of them end with me sitting down in front of the SG any time soon.

Ill update only if something changes. Happy Friday everyone.

  8. I do hope, yourself and others effected by this logistic issue get your resolution shortly. And I hope it doesn't create to much negativity toward a company producing products we all generally regard very highly.

Let the church say Amen - those of us whove adopted other products from Analogue know they are top of the line. I cannot imagine my gaming collection without them.

  9. I imagine the issue with incorrect colour consoles is simply down to the logistics company Analogue employed getting it horribly wrong.

Which is why they are offering refund of shipping (as that will come from their contract with the logistics company, not Analogue).

My delivery included a printed label inside the box of my order, which was inline with what I ordered and what was delivered. I presume people who have the wrong device have this label showing their actually order, not what was delivered?

Ultimately this seems to be a logistics problem, created by a third party to Analogue, including the poor shipping packaging (mine was in a beat up box with some brown paper loosely placed around one side of console).

I'm a first time Analogue customer, but I see this not as their problem but as a supplier letdown. The device itself, which Analogue are responsible for is great, and for me works flawlessly.

Just wanted to add a reasonable voice to this conversation.

I have a feeling this will be the last time Analogue works with this shipping partner for a roll-out of this nature.

The version swap issue has been odd in that two different narratives were coming from this situation. First, some received emails from Analogue Support stating the reason EUR versions were shipped for a number of JPN version buyers was due to being out of stock of the JPN version. Other emails received from Analogue Support stated this was just a mix-up. One of these is the truth - its possible the shipping partner was providing Analogue Support with misinformation which got passed on to the customer.

Interestingly enough in my own situation which Ive covered in previous posts (which is a shipment issue not a button color issue) sort-of came to a conclusion when I told Support I didnt care which version I received if the USA version was truly out of stock as they referenced in a previous email. Instead of taking a $25 credit I asked Analogue Support would they consider simply sending whatever they actually had in stock. This was the email I promptly received from Analogue Support thereafter:

I have sent over a JPN edition Mega Sg with FedEx Overnight 1-Day shipping to make up for lost time.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can do for you.

I received this email at 10:40am, Thursday the 28th. I have not received a new tracking number nor has the old tracking number actually been scanned. Who knows at this point if I will indeed receive the JPN version, or when it will actually leave from the shipping partner. At this point I dont have a lot of faith that FedEx will be making a delivery later today, but hopefully Im wrong.

As someone who has worked in a similar situation, rolling out pre-orders where you are in one location and the shipping partner is in another - issues like the two weve witnessed can be terribly frustrating for all parties involved. The key to overcoming these early issues is having each side know exactly what the other is doing, and what resolution has been made. This has added additional frustration to some customers because the turnaround time for replies from Analogue Support has been delayed as they themselves are waiting on communication from the shipping partner.

As someone who simply adores the quality of my Mini NT, & Super NT - I have no doubt that the quality of the SG will exceed my expectations. Will there be bugs, sure - but thats commonplace. However at this moment Ive yet to have any warm fuzzy feelings toward this shipping partner.

Once I receive the system, the fun Ill have with my EverDrive X7 and my 2 M30s will fade my frustration away. Until then Im not the happiest of early adopters.

  10. LOL! I insisted no such thing.

...maybe...yours got dropped or kicked behind a fixture at the shipping center?

So according to your logic they dropped...kicked a number of packages. Sounds like some clumsy folks! Maybe the TouchTone Terrorists from Gators Creek Georgia were hired to facilitate this shipment lol!!!

Awfully solid conclusion you have there based on your one case that obviously has something else going on.

Another example of where you INSIST this was a singular case/issue and not a sign of anything more.

Im sorry Ive upset you so with my perspective. Im done with this issue as they have worked to seemingly resolve it. You can have the last word if so desired, but I am finished with this discussion.

  11. CZroe - since you insist that I am dealing with a singular situation I want you to see one of a number of others who placed their orders around the same time as myself and received a tracking number but no shipment. If youd like I can screenshot other as well but I dont feel its necessary.

I dont care for your sympathy or lack therefore, I was simply pointing out what has happened. You can choose to disagree with my synopsis but make sure you know all the facts.

  12. In continuing my conversation with Analogue they have agreed to send me another version of the unit rather than having to wait 2 or 3 more weeks until they replenish stock of the USA version. According to their email they will be sending me the JPN edition. (It being the JPN edition is a little surprising) Whatever edition it may be that I receive is of no concern of mine personally as long as the SG is delivered.

  13. You are mistaking an email sent to all outstanding orders with a personal email intended for you.

Whatever CZ - the email was sent to me personally regarding my situation and Im aware (unlike yourself) of others in the same situation. You can defend and apologize for the company all you wish thats your prerogative, however for those of us who have either received the wrong console or simply not received their preorder you (who received what you paid for) have no right to tell those individuals how the should or should not react - yet on every post regarding these issues you do so.

  14. Update from Analogue:

Due to necessary restocking of the USA edition, orders for the console will begin shipping in 2-3 weeks. We are currently in the middle of moving stock between warehouse locations and apologize for the delay from the usual 2-3 days for active "in-stock" order ship time. MSG orders from the last week will have their status moved to "preorders" for this short restock period, after which they will promptly be sent out!

Analogue and their shipping partner did not honor the commonly understood preorder principle of orders are shipped in the order received and now there are those of us who preordered USA versions of the console (I ordered at 10:58am the morning the preorder news dropped) are now having to wait an additional two to three weeks while they gather stock to fill the next run of preorders.

The part that doesnt make sense in their reply: MSG orders from the last week will have their status moved to "preorders" for this short restock period, after which they will promptly be sent out! - what the heck does orders from the last week - even have to do with my situation, as I ordered nearly 6 months ago..

  15. It looks like they screwed up on my Mega Sg as well. I ordered a JPN and also got a plain looking EURO.

I haven't opened my box yet. Is there still a chance it might be mislabeled? If I open it will they take it back?

And what is the wait time to get the correct system (JPN)? They really should allow you to keep it and just send the 2 tiny buttons of the correct color. It would save them a ton in shipping costs (both ways), and allow the customer to actually play the system they paid for.

    AnalogueMegaSg-EUR-Should_be_JPN.png

Via a screenshot of email shared on Facebook, Analogue Support has replied that they will not accept the return if the box is opened - but have offered to a partial refund/credit. I also saw someone here on this forum with a similar answer. Analogue admitted in the email to not having enough stock of the JPN to fulfil the preorder, so it seems that without consulting the customer prior to shipment someone (either Analogue or their shipping partner or both) authorized sending customers the EUR version.

There are others who ordered the USA version who received tracking info that the order had shipped when in reality it had not.

These are just a couple issues with this roll-out (regardless of what a couple folks will argue otherwise) that have affected a number of early adopters. Im convinced this is an issue with the shipping partner and not a direct issue with Analogue. It has been hard to get a response from Analogue Support because all they can do is contact their shipping partner to find out whats going on. Not the most efficient process.

Additionally (reason for edit) - another customer on the Analogue Facebook page has posted he was given the option to return the system at his cost of return shipment (FedEx) and wait weeks for the exchange or accept a 10% credit. This is a little different from one of the other customers. Maybe YMMV.

  16. FYI: This is the respeonse I received from Analogue Support (Analogue)

...I am unsure why your order has not been sent out, as it should have arrived already. I will contact our shipping partners and get back in touch with you...

Im not trying to give these folks a hard time, as my orders for the Mini NT and Super NT were handled in a proper fashion, but something just doesnt seem right with whomever they chose as their shipping partners this time around. What makes it even more interesting is that I paid more for shipping this time than the previous two systems (maybe even combined). The tough part is the blame doesnt publicly fall on the nameless shipping partner, it will generally fall on the company you order from.

Ill wait for hopefully good news!

  17. I love the internet... Analogue offer preorders for their new console saying they'll ship in April. April. This could mean the 30th and you'd not receive your Mega Sg until the first week of May.

Analogue decide to ship early and some people don't receive theirs as early as other people. Queue pitchforks and rage!

Give it a break guys. If you get your console in the next 4 weeks, then Analogue fulfilled their promise to you. Relax, you'll live longer.

Nobody requested them to ship early - all we asked was for them to ship in the order received, which has obviously not been the case. Behind my disappointment stands the whole principle of a pre-order, you extend in good faith your $$$ before others so that you are assured you receive the product before those who delayed ordering. An early shipment date if handled in the order received would have indeed been an extra benefit to first-adopters and another good word of rapport toward Analogue from customers.

Im trying to see from your perspective, so I guess if you and I go shopping at H-E-B and Im standing back 7th in line and youve gotten there before me and are first in line youll take no issue if the store manager allows me to skip ahead of you and check out my cart full of groceries while you wait? The store opened 5 minutes early so from your post that makes all the difference and you would have no issue.

  18. Is anyone else as crazy as me? I literally got a Super NT and Mega SG hooked up to my TV right now and they're great, yet I have both in my shopping cart and am considering buying them, wrapping them up, putting in storage so that when I am 90 years old I'll still have a functional 'backup' system just in case.

    Am I nuts?

The way Analogue is handling this initial shipment, you might receive your shipment tomorrow if you ordered today, or you might be 90 when it arrives. Shipping in the order their preorders were received wasnt something Analogue considered very important this time around.

  19. Very disappointed in the shipping process as a whole of this system as I am aware of 4 individuals who Ive documented ordered their systems (two of them, days later - one overseas) and have received their system. A FedEx shipping label was created 4 days ago to be shipped only 278 miles from Rockwall TX to Houston TX - yet the system has still not left the warehouse (been scanned, etc.)

The shipping cost was nearly $40 which is hard to understand, but I was fine with that if it meant the shipping was dependable like the Super NT and Mini NT. Howver when you take part in a preorder and the company has your funds for all this time and you are not seeing any update on the shipment other than an electronic creation of a label - you start to wonder if something is going down especially with the other issues and concerns that are coming to light.

Ive been loyal to Analogue (Mini NT, Super NT and now Mega NT), but this situation has me wondering....maybe theyve used a undependable shipping contractor or maybe theyve got an issue weve not been made aware of. Yes, the shipments started a few days earlier than expected, but for the number of systems to have been delivered to be this numerous and some very early (within the first hour preorders) have yet to even leave the warehouse, questions are arising.

  20. Update: changing the firmware on my 8BitDo NES Controller from the Analogue (no turbo version) to the standard 8BitDo firmware brought back the turbo capability to the controller.

I will have to agree with the sentiment of some others here that the D-Pad on the 8BitDo NES controller doesnt perform as good as the OEM. However it is still a good piece of equipment.

  21. The SNES / NES adapter is just straight wired and does not add any lag. SNES controlelrs are pin compatible with NES protoc ol.

EDIT: what forsaken said. He posted while I was typing... :P

Atariboy, Forsaken & Stardust no matter what I am also going to get a couple of these adapters! That is awesome and why I love this forum.

  22.

The 8bitdo retro receiver maps the right-thumb buttons of a bluetooth controller (theirs at the very least) comfortably to NES B and A, and the other two to turbo. It came with the original nt mini package, but you can get it individually.

Is it possible that an 8bitdo firmware update removed this? I have the controller but no turbo on those buttons.
