Unlisted "Mouse Trap" cartridge - how rare is this
Mental Vortex replied to Mental Vortex's topic in Atari 2600
OK, no problem. Mine is listed on your list. I know there are a LOT of label variations out there, as I go back to the days of the old label variation list that was out on Usenet for quite a while. Just wanted to contribute what I had in case no one else had yet. I didn't think it was THAT rare, but I'm glad to know what the deal is with this version. -

Yep, that's what tipped me off when I look at the version my wife had, since her's didn't say that. -

The front and end labels are different than the version that's already listed. That's why I asked about it in the first place. Or am I missing something? -

I guess I never asked the other question related to this. Why this isn't this version listed on the 2600 cartridge list? I'm guessing it should be, right? -
Arcade games you would've made good 7800 releases.
Mental Vortex replied to Jonny_B's topic in Atari 7800
Ahh, one of THE best arcade games I ever played! I remember first playing it at a hotel in Washington, DC sometime in 1982 I think, and was instantly addicted. I can't believe Atari never officially released it for any of their systems. Did it ever come out on any other systems (Coleco, NES, etc.)? -
Most of the games I tried on the 2600 with the 3-button Sega game pad I had worked fine. The only one that didn't was Astroblast, which I guessed was because you could use either the joystick or paddle controllers and it got confused as a result. It worked fine in my 7800 as well although you couldn't access the second button.

You're not kidding. When I was a kid we used to play Astrosmash all the time and often get to at least 30,000 or so before we lost our first life. When I got Astroblast back in the mid 90s (one of the first games I got when I started collecting) I think I got to about 50,000 before losing a guy. Definitely one of the easier games they made, but still a LOT of fun!

2500 Desert Falcon - do I have a PAL version?
Mental Vortex replied to Mental Vortex's topic in Atari 2600
DING DING DING DING!!!!! That was the problem! I tried it on the Telegames console hooked up to our main TV in our living room (circa 1996) and it worked fine. Kind of a bummer as this means I can't play it on the TV where all my game systems are hooked up to, but at least I know what the problem is. Thanks again for all your help! And BTW - great avatar. I've had "Jones Crusher" in my head all day because of it. -
Activision - Before and After the Crash
Mental Vortex replied to Great Hierophant's topic in Atari 2600
Pitfall II is one of my all-time favorites, hands down. Probably one of the reasons why I like it is because it was HARD! It definitely kept your interest, even if you got mad when you kept falling into the water all the time! H.E.R.O. was another good one. Definitely a unique game compared to your usual shoot 'em up games. -
2500 Desert Falcon - do I have a PAL version?
Mental Vortex replied to Mental Vortex's topic in Atari 2600
Man, what a mess this became! Well, I'll take a look at this again tonight. I know the game isn't that great, but I'd still like to play it if I can. I'll see if the cart itself has any more information on it that may help identifying it. -
2500 Desert Falcon - do I have a PAL version?
Mental Vortex replied to Mental Vortex's topic in Atari 2600
Hmm, well this is at least the second TV that's done this, but I can try another one sometime. Do ALL the 2600 versions of this game do this, or did I get stuck with a dud? I appreciate all the information about this. I've wondered about this for years! -
2500 Desert Falcon - do I have a PAL version?
Mental Vortex replied to Mental Vortex's topic in Atari 2600
Thanks for the info. Soooo....what do I do now? I can't really play it at this point since the screen keeps scrolling. I've tried it on my 7800 and my wife's old Sears Tele-Games console and I get the same result. I can't remember if I've tried it in my Atari Jr. yet or not. Also, I'm not familiar with the 281 scanlines issue. Do other carts have the same specs? I have a few later red label releases but this the only one that does this. -
2500 Desert Falcon - do I have a PAL version?

I'm pretty sure there's not a "P" sticker on the cart but I'll have to check. I'm just kind of surprised to find a PAL copy in the U.S. without having to jump through too many hoops to find one. And of course, it's the ONLY copy of Desert Falcon I've ever found through all my years of rummaging through flea markets, thrift stores, etc. and I can't play it! Figures. -

Thanks for the info. Sorry, I couldn't find the search function before. Not quite used to the menus yet! And for the record, I don't believe I saw the Gemini system there when I picked this up, or else I probably would've bought that too. Too bad -
2500 Desert Falcon - do I have a PAL version?
Mental Vortex replied to Mental Vortex's topic in Atari 2600
Oops! Of course I meant 2600 DF. Sorry! -
I picked up a copy of Desert Falcon some years ago at a video games exchange store. While it works, the screen keep scrolling up the screen and I can't seem to stop it. My guess is that this is a PAL cart and not an NTSC cart, or it's just broken. Does anyone know if a PAL version exists, and if so is this what I have? Thanks for your help.

Hi there. Long time Atari player since...well about as long as I can remember! Grew up in the late 70s with all the classic consoles and their games. We had an Intellivision, but as most of you know, you always had a friend that had all the Atari games. My brother and I started collecting the classic consoles and games since the early 90s and haven't stopped since. I took a look at the cartridge listings here, and was happy to see all the label variations as well. My wife's parents recently gave us their old Atari system, with games (got a Deadly Duck out of it, yahoo!). One of the duplicates that I now have as a result is Coleco's "Mouse Trap", but when I compared her copy to mine, I noticed something I forgot about until now. Her copy is the regular Coleco version that's listed on here. However, mine is not. In fact, it's not even listed on this site! I picked this up at a flea market in Buffalo sometime in the mid 90s, and it appears that it came with, of all things, the Coleco Gemini system. Anyone else seen this, have this, or have any idea if it's a find? I'd love to know.
