  1. Hi there, if your hurting for the other cards, a user here called Boojackascha produced some 'multicard' designs, he helped me get a big bundle produced as well, and I'm selling them as people have interest. I am UK based so shipping might take awhile, but some people tell me they received it within 5-7 days. All the units are produced, so I send them out usually within 48 hours of payment.

Its a nice set and I'd have bought that set even without the cards in a snap, unfortunately few are available this side of the pond, and many the other side are reluctant to send abroad. I also can't afford it XD. Thankfully though the multicards are cheap, so if you are interested check it out.

  2. My butt clenches every time I see new posts in this thread but it's either people messaging because they didn't read the thread, or people memeing the fact that other people haven't read the thread.

We shall all get a chance to buy one when the site to buy them is up, we can all fight to the death for one when the time comes.

  3. I used to have 4-6 consoles plugged in with all the rf switches in my bedroom 25 years ago. Now I have 9 consoles plugged into the TV including a ps3 which is usually left on (standby), wii u is also a standby console. Everything is fine.

Now for what is really a hazzard: mattress warmers. When I used to work in a video game shop, a guy came in and related how his 40 console collection went up in flames because he left his mattress warmer on when he got up and went to work. Dangerous things, there is easier and safer ways to keep your sleeping experience comfortable.

  4. I have a retron 77, arguably it's completely useless because I could just emulate it on a pc. But actually there is a benefit because it's small, compact, can run carts if I really desired (but it essentially just copies the rom data rather than a direct read), wires are less of a pain, etc. It's a convenience for a cost.

If these machines makes it easier, fits with your house better in terms of location, furniture etc then go for it. I use laptops rather than desktops I like sitting on the sofa than in a chair. I connect the laptop to the TV but it's a bit of a faff. I buy things so I can play on consoles or clone machines for ease.

So if it's useful for you, then go for it. And to answer the idea that all emulators are idiot proof, they really aren't. Mame, saturn emulation etc is not easy to handle, if a preset configuration makes it usable for you and your family go for it. Personally I usually avoid arcade Emulation because I can't get round mame's menus. Meh.

Edit: just want to say, I'm one of those that attack the Ataribox release for similar reasons 'you can do it on a pc'. This is because nothing of the Ataribox actually is different to a pc. A device with built in software to simplify the experience of setting up games is the service you are buying, to pick up and play games without having to fiddle with settings is something worthwhile considering, especially if you aren't interested in learning everything about computers. Perhaps sometimes we are too quick to judge others on what is easy for us but might be difficult or hard to understand for others.

  5. I've got a psuedo saturn cart similar to this, any data burning software should be fine. I usually just use one of the annoying ones for free with ads for Windows.

Note that the software on it is compatible with most games, but not all. I've found dragon force 2 translation never works, and a couple of games like disc world doesn't either.

  6. Just posting to note that the January thing isn't an official delay, as I don't think they actually mentioned anything about general release just backer models.

From gleaming through info though it sounds like late December for backer units is the new plan. BUSINESS DAYS NOT WEEKS!

Also, atari coin token whatever was never going to make financial sense. Its a made up currency, its backed by nothing its value is whatever you make it. You'd be better investing buying phsycial video games and holding onto them for 10 years and reselling. Mystical valueless numbers that can't be used anywhere never give returns, it's an old trick, longer than the Internet or computers by a large margin, but people still fall for it.

The 2600 has more pick-up-and-play games.  Intellivision games often require you to spend five minutes to read the instructions.  And some of the best intellivision games are for two players only.

The 2600 actually has double the vertical resolution and far more colours compared to intellivision.  There are some types of graphics that are better suited to the 2600 like battlezone and pole position for example.  But something like the cramped Space Armada on intellivision is just due to design choices.  There's no reason the aliens couldn't have been smaller but the programmer chose graphical detail over gameplay.

Totally agree, my use of 'complexity' was on purpose as like you say, a number of 2600 games look better than the intellivision, thanks to manipulation of its capabilities.

To me intellivision feels like a proto colecovision, because that console was far more capable as a system, and even the range of controllers helped it with different types of games. Intellivision was crippled from a retro gamer perspective of not having an alternative.

For PAL maybe import a NTSC tv or is that too expensive?

This new console doesn't support pal carts which I have exclusively. Though to be fair I do have a romcart now, and the console ports out graphics by rom rather than console, so currently I have the amusing sight of NTSC roms playing in black and white unless I put it through a capture card.

I've always wondered about modding the n64, but it never got enough love from me to really fiddle around with it.

  9. It would be intellivision if it wasn't for two things:

    1) love the disk, but the buttons take energy to press, particularly the side ones which is used for fire.

    2) although there is certainly more complexity available in graphics for the intellivision, the available resolution makes it feel squished with little room to move, 2600 even with its square graphics was able to have a more fulfilling screen.

So like others, I probably get more screen time from 2600 games, but on a technical level intellivision is on top.

  10. No PAL support, so it's basically completely useless to me. It seems to be cheaper than what hyperkin was planning on selling theirs for, if you aren't bothered about buying controllers so there is that. I imagine the pal issue isn't a bother for most people though, but its always been ironic that European n64s couldn't output anything better than composite. (though there is modified s video cables available).

  11. Some rogue like games do have a mix of random and pre set maps. Azure dreams ps1 had set maps, usually story based but occasionally pre set ones turn up, the rest randomised.

Other console rogue likes include the pokemon mystery dungeon series and even Final Fantasy took a try with the FF X-2 characters as a post game storyline.

  12. I was lucky enough to grab Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, thank you so much for giving these away!

I have some floating around myself, so I'd like to do something similar later on but there's some cracking games being given away here... thank you so much.

[Update] Kings of Edom now featuring a little bit more 'interactive' environment.

Looking good! Will rocks be pullable or do we just need to be careful and not block overselves in! No promises I wouldn't do that lol.

The tall grass would be nice if its foreground with a shuffling animation.

I think with all these demands I better buy the game when it comes out! :)

  14. 2 weeks to get into US.

Assuming no customs issues several days to a week to get to their warehouse.

A day minimum for product testing / confirmation.

Rest of the week to package orders to ship out.

Week to arrive if it wasn't covid Christmas, so perhaps two.

2nd or 3rd week of December for first units in backers hands. If I wasn't a religious denomination that completely rejects gambling I would bet all my savings (in atari coin) on that being the earliest date anyone gets one. So you might get it for Christmas but it's still a bit of a stretch.

That GunTech game looks mildly interesting, and it's obviously already out on apple store and steam, I'll likely buy it on sale (on a pc) .

Here is there response after telling me that "they have my back".

So not only does he get free stuff, he gets because of a small rip. I had sent EBAY weeks of contacts saying that I was waiting for him to acknowledge the return. Why does he get to keep it at my expense? Buyer is not going to like what happens next.

    phantasystar.jpg

Keep fighting ebay on it before you go with a baseball bat at to buyers House, have you rung ebay up in the past or just emailed? I find ringing up is a lot more effective when trying to sort issues out.

Does Canadian consumer laws cover anything with this? I think in UK this would now be regarded as theft by the buyer if they receive a full refund without giving back the goods.
