During gameplay the LED lights will glow brighter as the joystick is pushed or rotated to indicate direction. Game developers are able to add their own effects to activate the LED ring during gameplay

Honest to God, if this adaptive lighting is sufficiently modifyable to users as well as developers, I would genuinely consider buying one. For all the bashing I do, I would genuinely consider buying something that lights up in pretty ways.

Edit:rotated. Confirmation of paddle feature or old text left in????

My father got me an Odyssey 2 as a gift.

I now have 7 games for it.

I am enjoying it so far.

A good choice, it's short and simple gameplay, but it's an affordable console to keep collecting for. If you do move to another 2nd gen Console, intellivision is probably the better choice. Most available are still boxed and complete, and doesn't command much more price than loose copies.

Most of the other 2nd generation is more specialist, 1292 is European exclusive, the fairchild channel f market seemed to have ballooned out of nowhere price wise and is more simple than the odyssey2. The other is colecovision, which some (including me) would argue is not a true 2nd generation console, it certainly has deeper gameplay and graphics than other 2nd generation consoles but the price is not ridiculous for loose carts for a good starter set.

  3. Hopefully the odd fairchild channel f recent price bubble breaks, as it's generally an enjoyable device to buy for.

I think the collection that is the most enjoyable for collecting and have a better common to rare ratio is the odyssey2/videopac. Most of the library is available all of the time, some games go dirt cheap if you wait, and even the rares will generally have one around. I do admit I don't have powerlords, but as a US only release its not high priority for me, but I am getting close to it being one of the few I don't have.

  4. I want to thank Boojakascha once again for supporting me with making this order, and ensuring a finished product, now that I have tried and tested it, I appreciate even more the work that he has done to design, produce the originals and update for the new order. Please check out his other work on his website and youtube channel in the first post.

Ok everyone! I have updated the first post with shipping costs (including totals) for UK, Europe, United States and Australia, please check it out as well as my paypal details to send money. The post has been updated with a few other details as well, so please read before confirming your order through paypal.

I am working most days of the week still, but I am free Friday and Saturday this week: if anyone is able to pay before then I will aim to get them sent out on those days. Generally Fridays is the most likely day I can send orders out, but if I have a number ready I will try to go out and get them shipped when I can.

If there is any other countries I'm missing, please let me know. Europe should mean anyone in the European Union - but if you aren't in an EU country just let me know and I'll find out if you can have the same price. If anyone is from somewhere not listed (Canada, Mexico, South America, Africa, Asia, New Zealand) let me know and I'll send you a quoted price.

These packages will only be about 40-50g, so they are light as a feather, the first post also includes details for those ordering more than 1, note that you will be limited to tracked deliveries due to value. For insurance purposes, their stated value is £20 each, the price I'm charging per unit.

    Oz, too, please!

Looks like everything is working to me.  Card 8 and 11 both have the same sized wall.  That is adjusted on the Odyssey motherboard.  The only difference with 11 is that pressing the Reset button not only serves, but also causes the ball to plunge downward (while held).

Thanks Zhorton! Was fun testing all the modes but I'll have to wait till another time for a proper play through.

I'll try and get estimated shipping costs for UK and US by the end of the day, and I'll do a video tomorrow.

  6. Some pictures of it working. Because my tv can't understand NTSC signals, I have to use a USB device to get a picture. I've tested all 12 entries, and taken pictures of the most obvious versions, tennis, volleyball and handball.

I don't own a light gun, so I'm afraid I can't say for sure that 9 and 10 is definitely working but I can't imagine there is an issue as it appears to display correctly at least for 9.im unsure of the proper visual for 10, but without a lightgun I can't be 100% either way. As it was originally designed with the light gun games in mind, I imagine it is fine. If someone can confirm once they receive it I'd be very grateful!

    I referred to

IXMlN1GMOmc for interplanetary voyage, I believe it is working as intended!

My understanding of 8 and 11 is that 11 has a thinner barrier, but mine was the same, this could be something I need to adjust internally, and I don't think 11 had any other alteration other than this.

  7. I don't think it's photoshopped but it is different than originally intended. It felt like the original design was adaptive lighting for the ring (corsair style lighting? That actually would have got a lot more sales, the controller would probably sell more than the console).

I questioning if it even looks like it lights up at all, looks like a print, bright ish orange but not something that actually lights up.

  8. Uberstrategist can't possibly do any worse than Atari can at marketing their device, in fact, if they do nothing, they still did better than Atari can at marketing the device.

Edit: Actually here is a few tips for Uberstrategiest to start with, I'll give these out free of charge:

    1) Get Atari to stop doing the weird silent and worse than amateur videos when they are trying to increase interest in their product.

    2) Get Atari to not make sniping comments or swear on their social media accounts.

    3) If Atari can't get any developers to actually make games for the device, or even optimise existing games for the device, go through steam and find which games CAN work without negative comments and sell that at least.

    4) Pay codemystics to make an expanded Atari Vault given that's who we actually tend to respect to make a decent product.

Good Luck Uberstrategist, wouldn't want your job!

  9. Hi everyone, getting to the end now. I've got confirmation yesterday on shipping of the order, part of me hoped it was going to be here today as it was supposed to be 24 hour delivery... but I'd hope to have it by Tuesday latest. Here is a list of users and quantities requested. There is 20 more available for anyone interested but I will do a video of it all working when it arrives (well hopefully it works anyway!). I originally intended to keep any left over for selling my own homebrew sometime in the future, but I can easily get a second run for that. I may share more widely outside AA once I have a video up.

again, no pre purchase necessary, I'll setup ways of payment once I've received them and judged price of shipping based on size. I'll also let those requesting more than one if there will be slightly higher shipping prices, or if I can soak up that cost if its minimal.

  10. so lets get this straight, again.

500 units was promised to developers, some people did assume that some lucky backers might have got in this action mainly because:

    a) There was probably never going to be 500 people interested in developing

    b) It might have been smart advertisement to have super fan backers to grab one so they can rave about it.

The 500 has arrived, except its only 96, except these aren't necessarily going to developers, but retail to try and push its viability as a product.

This means it doesn't even have 96 developers, which we all knew wasn't going to happen anyway (although 96 staff members of a smaller number of developers might have made sense), but its already a lot less than 500.

No confirmed developers still, no confirmed games being developed. I still feel like they will get something out of the hat at the last moment... but they are still pushing it...

  11. Yeah to be fair they tend to go both ways for PS, but then furniture isn't made for it. My ps3 slim fits nicely in a box but a piano style would never. I'm assuming ps4 suffers the same fate.

I guess we won't have any problem with the atari VCS

Because its never going to release

  12. Think I have the x5 currently. My mega cd 1 works fine and never had a problem with it, so adding cd support is great but not a dire need right now. However, the space it takes up is a factor. I'm good now with my current setup but before I would have jumped at the chance to reduce the total height of the machine.

So it's something I'd like as a convenience but I'm in no rush.

  13. Madness. Guess that's me out of a full collection. It's already at £500 and it doesn't even have a box.

I don't know how I feel about it, if someone has that kind of money and they need it for their collection... Fair enough. But if they are fighting against a dirty reseller who thinks they can jack up the price... Grrr makes me mad!

Backers can now rest easy because Atari has officially confirmed that the Atari VCS has passed the threshold of being "more of a when than an if".  Also good to know that at least somebody is having fun playing a VCS even if it's not me or a reputable journalist.

That's dangerous, sounds like an admission that it might not have happened after all! It still might not.

  15. Looks like alien invasion went for a reasonable price despite boxed. The other us exclusives didn't go too high considering. If I had the funds I might have even considered buying myself for CIB copies... Oh well.

Whizball went for 500... Really man.... I got it myself in the past 12 months for a tenth of that...
