  1. Would make sense to do a clone of the JagDuo rather than the original Jaguar itself. A bigger project would be Jaguar 2 as its supposed to be back compatable I believe, with 8MB RAM, potential for N64ish level of games? It would be deadly expensive to produce no doubt, but how many of us would buy one anyway?
  2. Thanks, I've sent a PM. For everyone else, I was in the 6th of Dec batch, and got a shipped notification on the 16th. Hope that helps the anxious waiters!
  3. Was probably the reputation they got for starting kickstarter funds and then not delivering. Guess we can't say that's completely true now. We may not be getting pong on a watch, but there is now pong on a TV.
  4. Hopefully someone hasn't gone as high as $900 this time 😛
  5. 3rd week of december, called it. Hilarious to see that you can buy products on it, get charged, but then not get the product. FAIL.
  6. nothing fancy, just male to male cables (getting harder to find, a lot of male to female and female to male cables come up first), here is cheapest one listing on ebay (Hong Kong) but there is others available: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1-5M-4-9Ft-3-5mm-Male-Jack-to-2-RCA-Male-M-M-Splitter-Stereo-Audio-AV-Cable/133218537271?hash=item1f04718f37:g:fVkAAOSweFhevQ7a 3.5mm is the standard size for headphones, that's what you want.
  7. I'm saying it as someone who used to speedrun. It was in reference to zzips comment: But meh, just a comment at the continuing evolution of the games industry and how its consumed.
  8. oh yes you are right, I knew it was the brown box version, but for some reason thought it was one of the later post release videos Baer did but I think the one I'm thinking of was much later and in colour.
  9. Really sad to hear all the negativity about the game, I managed to get all the way to the start game selection without reading anything about the game and barely seeing any video or even picture footage of the game. It reminds me a lot of original Dues Ex. Yes, some of the world filling is a bit non-descriptive, but its there to distract you while you go from A to B. The dialogue of characters, the combat - this is what you play the game for, not whether pedestrians and cars are sentient.
  10. I would say speedrunning definitely destroys a lot of enjoyment of games, not just as the person doing speedrunning yourself, but to watch other people play - its kind of a way of saying to yourself you'll never play the game "normally" again. To see people speedrun games that literally come out, it likely puts a downer on things as it reduces a lot of games to "how many hours and keypresses needed to finish the game".
  11. Lol, Says pong. Displays Tennis. For the Magnavox Odyssey. Is this video on any kind of official vcs media or is it just on this random botaccount channel?
  12. Regarding first: yes, this is normal here for personal sellers. I do it for things like the boards I sell on here, or ebay sales - it sometimes takes a day or two to motivate myself to go out - but as a business you'd normally expect these things to be picked up for you. Oh well. Regarding the second, this is an interesting question, obviously the sale of second hand goods it definitely wouldn't apply but for first, even thinking of the UK there is this... https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/36859658#Comment_36859658 (original bolded text, I can't seem to take it off, meh) So it may well already be breaking UK law by not supplying a conversion plug. You also hope the US plug keeps to safety standards...! Generally, most appliances now that is intended to be sold abroad will have adjustable UK/European 3/2 pin settings, or come with a USB cable that you then supply the plug adapter yourself for (example: Retron 77 has the power usb cable, but not a way of actually plugging it into the mains). There is of course plenty of plug socket panels now designed with USB ports to plug in directly.
  13. My wallet is certainly a lot healthier, I can just wait for steam sales for all those console games I want to play one day! I'm not saying that the newer gen versions aren't a lot slicker (read: plays like it should on a PC), but we're not talking gameplay difference like it used to be between NES/SNES/GB and MS/MD/GG.
  14. Hi there, I'm UK based as well, so you can imagine how many scart consoles and devices I have (think its around the 20 mark!). In all honesty, there is probably not much if any loss from most tv's having it direct (say a console with S-video/composite going directly into the philips) or the scart going into the TV and being routed back out with the AUX out port (the one for head/ear phones). The only question really is if your CRT has an out port. Most 80's onwards TV's should have a port - some might be in the back but many are often found at the front, particularly under the flap with the volume controls. Older ones may not have a port though... There is a number of high quality lead producers in the UK who build them here for scart users - some of these scarts come built with audio cables splitting out of it, so you can use it for devices like this. Another alternative is to look into component cables (now more readily available for pre-HD consoles) and use that if you have the component ports in your TV. I'm fortunate to still have a TV with scart, 2 HDMI (not CRT obviously!), composite/component and a few usb ports too - so I have to admit I tend to just switch the wires in the TV and keep the wire you see in the Philips. The sound on it is the same as when I had it when it first came out, so I don't think its effected by TV at all! If you want I could consider doing a short video with what wires etc I have with it and the size. It can also be powered by batteries, if you say, want to take it with your gameboy, neo geo pocket, game gear etc out and about (it would make a good seat if nothing else!). This is the specific model I have: https://www.philips.co.uk/c-p/AZ2555_05/- checking ebay there is a few available around the £30-50 mark: https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/58093885 A lot cheaper than buying a brand new system with similar bells and whistles. (it also has analogue radio and a CD player, if you didn't have 12 consoles that could do that for you!).
  15. If you like sound, I think you need to think about alternative sound outputs. Tvs have quite basic output. Modern tvs potentially even more basic. Yes, modern tvs have balance controls etc, but they still blurt out of the same piece of black plastic. I've attached the image of the sound system I use. For living in urban area, this is the most I can get away with, though I would like a more dynamic room surround system with speakers behind the sofa - I'll wait until I'm in my 'house for life' first. This is an old system now, my brother who runs an independent electronic shop got it for my mum ages ago, I used to hook it up for playing my saturn back when that was the latest thing - but its good for everything really. A little while ago while visiting, I realised it was collecting dust being unused. I checked prices for similar modern systems and they run into thousands which made me laugh. So I did a cheeky ask like children do of their parents and said I could take it off their hands. This particular model has both a USB port for pcs and an rca port. There is even a video pass through at the back so you can put sound directly in and then hide the additional video wire at the back and attach it to the TV without having to split the cables yourself. Out of ease, because i usually have about 8 consoles plugged in these days, I just take the audio out the TV and split it as can be seen here. Unfortunately there isn't an audio pass through in the back... So you see my ugly wire underneath. When I have a day off or if I'm on break working at home, I love cranking the volume up for neo geo cd and similar consoles, but early rf consoles still get a nice sound out of it, it has some balance adjustment options, but it's limited (no direct base adjustment, but you basically just reduce the other settings).
  16. I think we all know it, the blur between console and pc has fully arrived. We aren't talking about new flashy games coming out exclusive to the next gen, we're talking about games you can buy on either generation, and getting a patch on the newer one to make it work faster and look nicer. Even the current exclusives are unlikely to stay exclusive forever. The pc market is too strong to be competed against. Xbox is virtually pc. On the last gen which I still haven't got into yet, I could buy second hand for less than £50 every game that came out only for X box one. I think I counted 7 exclusives last time I looked and I think some of them were download only - for the entire systems life.
  17. Mario 35 game seems cool, but it's already losing wind, perhaps because its going to be completely removed and never used again in a few months. If they wanted to do something in a similar vein for Zelda, a randomiser for zelda 1 again defeated enemies appear on other screens could be easily created with minimal effort. And just as Nintendo likes it can make it latest gen exclusive and rip it from gamers hands a few months later.
  18. If you get 40 hours in a take your time playthrough, doing occasional side missions but not pushing through them all, then you've done OK. Interesting OP mentioned FF13, as that game destroyed the series for me. I'm Replaying it now and I still make the same mistake... Pressing x constantly in battle because the delay is so long to register when the menus is flashing on and off. There is a lot wrong with FF13, but ironically I didn't mind the voice overs in English. The story was a distorted mess in its presentation, even though it was actually quite deep. I started origins recently in terms of AC, at first it felt very new, a lot different than the carbon copy games I've been trying to play through the last few years. But actually, it's more of the same and I'm kidding myself. I've put it on pause, though part of that is cyberpunk. I considered buying death stranding when it came to pc, but I watched it on twitch and decided not to bother. I bought ck3 and played it half an hour last night, lost all my wars and gave up. I'm now on 8.7 hours play since release. I bought tower defence game gemcraft Frostborn Wrath when it came out and played it about 300 hours. Think that is all my significant 2020 purchases, so that says a lot about what interests me these days.
  19. The only police chase I've had so far was because I insist on driving in first person mode despite never driving a car in real life, and some cars you literally can't see over the steering wheel. I knocked over a pedestrian by accident and an officer happened to spot me. I went around under the highway slip road for a bit until the alert ended. I half intended to stop check on the person and accept a fine, but I don't think that's how it works and they just started shooting at me instantly.
  20. Updated for everyone. Presumably those picked up tomorrow will have half a chance of arriving in December, though I'm curious why they didn't ask the shipping company to bring a bigger van, I mean all of them could fit in one or two transit vans surely? Hardly an artic worth judging from pictures. Hmm. Also, is it normal for a US product to be packaged and set for shipping then wait a week before its officially in the system, does it not just get picked up... The same day? Also, lol at all the foreign backers who will try and plug in the US power supply because that was clearly an afterthought they realised when they got the units. I wonder when they clocked on, perhaps when they realised the shipping list included addresses not listed as US.
  21. So I did get it working and had a few days on it. I have to admit other than some missing hair in the mirror I've not actually experienced much in the way of bugs. I've wondered if there is a couple of minor quest completion/trigger glitches, but other than that it's been fine for me (PC, ultra settings on a laptop 2070 RTX) haven't had anything that other people have been having. Clothes take a second to load sometimes, so you get the occasional nakedness while you wait lol.
  22. I've always wondered about the Emerson Arcadia 2001 line, but because the UK direct versions like the Rowtron I've never found in the wild, I kind of never bothered. But look on ebay today and what is there.. a Rowtron! Sigh, to buy or not. Is there much information available on which games came out where for the Arcadia 2001 size cartridges? Edit: I'm still totally confused whether acetronic and its clones is a true Arcadia 2001 machine or not XD I have the entire acetronic line bar a couple of games, and I have a multicard with the Interton games included which didn't release - but still play on the acetronic.
  23. Has anyone from the 6th December purchases had any tracking info yet? Sorry if its too early to ask! Was just wondering as I knew some of the earlier orders had.
  24. Ugh, I started it up earlier to check out the game settings, turning auto aim off and things, but not starting a game. Loaded it now with little eyes asleep - crashes on the logo. Great. Reinstalling in the hopes that does the trick and I just don't touch anything in the options.
