Probably like most of us that play Super Pro, I tend to stick with the same programmed routes for several plays in a row.
Oddly enough, I find programming the receiver routes to be an enjoyable nuance. It is kind of fun picturing in your head the possibilities of your guy starting, stopping, coming back and going diagonally. I just wish the ball could be thrown for longer than 10 yards so these routes could fully materialize.
But yeah, add this to the "fix-it" list too.......

I LOVE this game. I missed it the first time around and can only imagine how I would have played it relentlessly had I got it back in the 1980's. I was one of those types who kept my passing and rushing stats ON PAPER playing 4th and Inches on my C-64.
SO, not trying to cause trouble or start a rebellion. I have no talents other than playing old video games and drinking beer. But.....can someone with the skill and knowledge fix the few glaring issues with this great game and release it in cartridge format?
Please:
1. Make the length of quarters adjustable. It takes two hours to complete a game!
2. Fix the passing so that a pass can be thrown longer (and more accurately) than 10 yards
3. Tweak the ability for the QB to rush with the football. As it is now, you're basically doing quarterback sneaks and lucky to gain 3 yards on most carries. It would be nice to have a better running game capability, maybe be able to use a side button to break a tackle or get an extra burst of speed. Make them limited, of course but someway have a more fully-realized running game.
I game solo where my player skill is 1 (rookie) and I set the CPU to 7 and have been successful. I am going to crank up the CPU to a 9 next time I play.
I did once own Super NFL Football for the ECS but found it buggy and a little too easy. I'd take Super Pro any day over it.
Thanks for reading......

What was the promotion offered by Parker Brothers that resulted in a few of my manuals (Frogger, Popeye) having the bottom left corner cut off (for the proof of purchase?)
My mom worked at K Mart and was very aware of these types of promotions and I have no doubt I got something for free in the mail - I just can't remember what it was? Any help?

Seeing these stickers of Cobra and Chet Lemon on an Intellivision Baseball box....how random for a Monday morning.
1981 was the year that EVERYTHING changed for us kids. In addition to the traditional Topps baseball card set, they also put out these stickers and album. This was also the same year that Donruss and Fleer produced their own baseball card sets. As a 10-year old kid there were some hard decisions to be made on what to buy at the corner store.

Well, I think I shall not be looking for a Triple Challenge cartridge after this and just stick with USCF Chess.......
Returning to my seat at the kids' table,

Are there any differences between the chess game on Triple Challenge and the original Chess game on Intellivision? Things like computer AI and if it can take the CPU a long time to make their move. I am a novice player so I doubt I'd know the difference.

After my tragedy I picked up an Atom Retro from Commodore4ever and have been very happy with it.

Whatever you choose, a modern PSU is a must!
Best of luck!

I respect this and recall many a moon ago trying to see if the score would roll over on the 2600's Realsports Baseball. Of course now I can't remember if it stayed at 99 or rolled back to 00 but that was a long gaming session playing the 2-player option solo. Lots of grand slams were hit that day.

The result is that the 9VAC from the transformer which is rectified as ~12VDC, never gets regulated down to 5V so without you realizing one day the power supply will shoot up to 12V into the board on the pin where it expects 5V. It will fry delicate chips, in particular due to the fuse inside the computer only reacts to the other, 9VAC input line. You can get an "insurance" in form of a C64 Saver, a small device you put between the computer and the power supply. It will detect if it gets overvoltage and shuts off the power before the computer is damaged. There are several people making their own Saver devices, each claiming to have a better solution than the competitor. Another solution would be to buy a brand new PSU designed to modern principles which runs cooler and isn't prone to physical damage. Those power supplies though are a bit pricy, so it might not be the very first thing you want to do.
100% truth....I'd only counter that it might be the first thing you'd want to do.
I'm still a little stung by my original C-64 (that I've had since 1986) dying earlier this year from this. Over the years I've read the warnings about the PSUs but assumed that since it was my original and that I always took care of it that it couldn't happen to me.
It did.

The traditional "ending in less than 24 hours" bump. There is a River Raid for Intellivision cart that has been added.......

Truer words have never been spoken......
I have been using this weird pandemic time to try to really get to play some of the more minor Inty titles and with confidence can scratch off Championship Tennis and World Cup off the list.

Be my Ambassador of Quan! It is amazing how a half-gallon of Jamo doesn't last as long during a pandemic. Who knew?

Probably not too surprisingly, there are not that many in-depth threads on this game. Sorry for the necro-bump
I have spent 2 hours, 4 shots of Jamo and 6 Bud Lights of my life during this pandemic today playing this game and I still do not know how I feel about it.
I hate the side button action, truth be told. Especially the lob option, which is only on the bottom right side. These 49 year-old hands get a little sore after a long Inty session as it is. After this game....damn!
I have lost 6-0 6-0 a few times but once was up 40-15 in a game before the CPU did it's thing. That's good, right?
I see the beauty in this game - it is a really advanced tennis game and for coming out in 1986....just wow. I am below-average tennis buff so I'll deal either way. Anyone out there still playing this in the summer of 2020?

19 minutes ago, Cafeman said:Some have stated 7800 Robotron is better than the 5200 version. I'm not sure I ever played the 7800 version to compare - why do you prefer 5200 > 7800 Robotron?
The 5200 version wins in all three categories:
1. Graphics - the 7800 is blocky and gets a little choppy (although not as bad as the 5200) when there is a lot happening
2. Sound - while the 7800 system as a whole suffers from inferior sound capabilities, the 5200 sound is pretty near arcade-perfect. Or at least how I recall it
3. Controls- I primarily use Gemsticks for my 2600/7800 gaming and these sticks are pretty rigid. In using two joysticks (the preferred method) you'd need to really secure them into some type of homemade set-up to keep them from popping out in the heat of play. I know that Atari made a plastic coupler (like the 5200) for this but imagine it would lead to the same frustrating issue of the sticks just not being secured enough. The much-softer touch needed for controlling your guy on the 5200 is the better way to go.
Props to the 7800 version for being able to use one controller but it really isn't the same playing experience.
Just one dude's opinion, of course.....

10 hours ago, fred said:It is one of my favorite games. I have never beaten the first level. Do you clear all the rooms and collect all the treasure before going to the next level?
Advice would be appreciated 😂
You can "duck out" and progress to the next level just by entering the COLLECT BONUS box. Of course, this game is the ultimate in risk/reward when it comes to points.
I had to look it up about entering all the rooms - I thought that would automatically advance you to the next level as well but instead it nets you a 10,000 bonus (which equals an extra ship.)
With two fully-working controllers, playing Space Dungeon is classic video game heaven. I do gotta admit that time has diminished my opinion of Robotron for the same reasons mentioned but I still would take it it over the 7800 version.

I'm a little surprised that this didn't sell but then again ColecoVision isn't my strong suit.

Make Trax is a game I haven't thought about in many a moon. I used to play it at the local 7-11 before going to class in middle school in '84-'85. I don't think it has ever been ported to any system.
Sorry for the interruption but it is TBT. Carry on.
