What are the best 2600 games most people have never played?
TeddyBear89 replied to scitari's topic in Atari 2600
I fully agree with Super Football, Frankenstein's Monster and Fast Eddie. Because Frankenstein's Monster is kind of pricey it will continue to be missed out by many folk. With Super Football, check out this old thread and the sweet play sheet that a member was thoughtful enough to share. I got my laminated and it still comes in handy when playing..... https://atariage.com/forums/topic/188730-super-football/?tab=comments#comment-2384847 -

Pete Rose Baseball for 7800 to buy? Can't find anywhere!
TeddyBear89 replied to aaron1677's topic in Atari 7800
While playing Pete Rose is interesting for about an inning it is maddening that the two baseball games for this system blow chunks. 7800 owners would have been much better served by at least getting a port of Accolade's Hardball! as a fun and passable baseball game. Good luck on grabbing PR Baseball. I think the box is really cool and considering only months after its release The Hit King got banned makes it one of the more interesting 7800 releases. -
Chip Shot Super Pro Golf Putting
TeddyBear89 replied to TeddyBear89's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
Yeah, it might have been the Jamo as I realize that few would consider Slap Shot an underrated title........ Wolfy62 - this is the Golden Tee version I highly recommend. Unfortunately, I do believe they are out of production now. Best played on a CRT, this plug n' play is video golf Heaven in my opinion. Thanks to all for reading about my Chip Shot putting whining. -
Chip Shot Super Pro Golf Putting
TeddyBear89 replied to TeddyBear89's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
I tried fellas. I really, really tried. I am newer to video golf games - that Golden Tee Plug 'n Play STILL rocks my world for true golf fun. This past winter I started Leaderboard Executive on my Commie 64 and fell in love with just how freaking amazing it is. What a great game! Fast forward to now....Chip Shot looks great, plays great until you have to putt. Even after reading the manual, trying the practice option....it is just hostile. Because of your good recommendations I did try PGA Golf. Not bad, but it's simplified presentation made me long for Chip Shot on the Intellivision. I'm starting to think that Chip Shot needs to be ranked with Slap Shot: Super Pro Hockey as an overrated INTV release. Or maybe that's the Jamo talking 🙂 Either way on Chip Shot.....I quit. I quit. I quit. I quit. -
While I am relatively new to this otherwise fine old-school golf game, I just wanted to say that I F%@#ing hate the putting interface of this game. Just when I thought I had fully healed from the scars incurred from the putting on Leaderboard Executive for my Commodore 64 I am now haunted by this latest nightmare. I just don't understand it. Any thoughts, kind words or sealed bottles of Jameson sent my way would be appreciated. Ted

FS: Atari 5200 Boulderdash CIB (#24 of 100) from the Atari2600.com release and the Parker Brothers 5200 port of Montezuma's Revenge. Asking $160.00 for both. I will pay for the shipping - anywhere in the 48 CONUS states. I will ship USPS Priority (U.S. shipping only) Monty's Revenge works perfectly (cartridge only) Boulderdash took me 9 tries to get to work (I think it has to do with the spring mechanism in the cartridge as when I pushed the cartridge more firmly it took. I am an old-school gamer, not a fixer). Pics were taken today from my 4-port (no mod) 5200 system. Cartridge does work but I had to F' with it....I make no false claims but after the 9th attempt I did play 45 minutes today of this frustrating game. Truth be told, I hate the concept. Anyone remember that sick Van Wilder actor guy movie where he a contract worker in Iraq and was buried alive? F' that.....I hate it. But I digress....... See pics for box condition....one side is starting to come unglued. Any other questions please feel free to ask. Non-smoking, pet-free home. Regards, T-Bear

Emotional scars from video games as a child?
TeddyBear89 replied to Sknarp's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I have wondered what kids did in 1983 when their 5200 controller buttons would just stop working. Sure, it was gradual process with having to keep pushing the "start" button harder and harder to work. But there was no internet and I don't recall any articles in Electronic Games, Atari Age or other video games magazines of the day that addressed the carbon build-up or using the tin foil dot trick as solutions. All these mags did was to highlight the non-centering aspect of the controller - never the required maintenance of them. Other than asking your parents to buy another controller (which probably wasn't cheap and you certainly could expect some folks to say "no") a kid would basically be up shits creek with a useless 5200. I know there were solutions (Wico w/keypad) but if it wasn't available at your local Sears or Toys R Us it wouldn't do you any good. We've come a long way.......Thank goodness for my refurbished CX-52s with gold-plated circuit boards. -
This man knows how to safely and securely package & ship our beloved classic video game goods. I bought a nice TI-994a beginner set from Ben and am pleased as punch. Buy from him with 100% confidence!

What are your top Atari 5200 to get hold of but haven’t yet?
TeddyBear89 replied to Giles N's topic in Atari 5200
About 6 years ago (because of how much I enjoyed Miner 2049er) I too felt compelled to try to obtain the sequel. After a night of some big drinking I placed a bid on Ebay for something like $450 for a BBSB cart only. Happily I woke up the next morning to find that I was out-bidded. Shortly after, I got a disk copy of Bounty Bob for my Commodore 64 and am happy to say that it "scratched the itch" of wanting to own the holy grail 5200 version. Great game, a point of pride in any classic video game collection but really not worth robbing Fort Knox to pay for it. -
I'm guessing he is smiling because he broke 10K.....no small feat for the 5200 Berzerk!

US Power Supply Purchase Options?
TeddyBear89 replied to TheGrandPubaa's topic in Commodore 8-bit Computers
I second this. I recently bought an ATOM from Commodore4ever and have logged over 40 gaming hours with it. It is so worth the peace of mind! I just wish I had made the purchase a few weeks earlier. My ignorance in believing that it was OK using my original PSU (since I always took care of it and it has worked perfectly since 1986) caused my first Commie to no longer work. Regrettably I chose not to heed the vital information that is widely available here and on Lemon regarding these old PSUs. -
The first time pinning Lord Tuff on Bop 'N Wrestle.......only to be disappointed that there was no belt ceremony, no congratulations message, no nothing except an extra crowd roar.
-
The side buttons on these are difficult to use (you need to push them unnecessarily hard compared to the stock controller) Granted that most games don't require the use of both buttons.....I bought this controller mainly for the Coleco port of Lode Runner and H.E.R.O. (which use both side buttons) and was very disappointed. I'm no fan of the stock controller but it is the much better option between the two. A side note: With H.E.R.O. it turns out that you can plug a regular one button joystick into the second controller port (allowing you to control the guy identical to the VCS version). Sometimes it pays to actually read the instruction manual!

Championship Lode Runner for C-64
TeddyBear89 replied to TeddyBear89's topic in Commodore 8-bit Computers
Thanks for trying to help! I would agree with your suggestion but this video (for the Apple II version) shows that the support ladders generated after getting all the gold don't help you out of the pit. I also question the speed setting of this version since I have tried dozens of times to destroy the bottom corner walls in order to sneak in to grab one gold piece and still make it out before the wall regenerates. I die every time. I am about to throw the towel in on this disk! -
Any help on getting past the first board? After grabbing all the available gold, I assume it has to do with getting the two zombies to follow you down to grab the two last pieces at the middle-bottom trap (thus having the ladder reveal itself). I am a longtime Lode Runner player (this Thursday I set my all-time high getting to level 36) so while not a HOF'er I am a somewhat adequate player. I remember reading the Championship Lode Runner game review in Electronic Games magazine back in the mid-80's claiming that even expert players would have a severe problem with the Championship edition. More interestingly, I am surprised that this game has no mention on Lemon. Any assistance, links, etc would be welcomed....after 100 games it is starting to affect my ego that I can't even get past the first level.............

Atari2600.com out of commission?
TeddyBear89 replied to adoblivione's topic in Gaming Publications and Websites
Nothing but fond memories of using Atari2600.com in the late 00's and earlier this decade...... Reasonable prices, filling up a virtual shopping cart of 10-20 cartridges in one swoop and of course the bargains to be had looking at their "Nekid Ladies & Wounded Warriors" discount section for all the classic systems. I also appreciated the brief (but honest) game reviews that were listed. All good things do come to an end though. -

The rounding third and coming home bump........ -
As I am destined to make a trip to the post office tomorrow for my other items that sold I'll take $35.00 for BOTH this Jawbreaker CIB and the 2600 manuals and catalogs. The manual lot no longer includes Demon Attack, Dolphin, Taz, one Yars' Revenge, Video Olympics, Haunted House and Barnstorming. Everything else you will receive. I'll pay the postage too. If interested PM me within the next few hours......it is SO much easier being a buyer than a seller, isn't it?
