I am hoping this is the right area

Anyway, I am proud to announce that besides our Gloss Laser Labels for Atari carts, we soon will have Gloss InkJet labels for Atari cartridges. We are expecting these to be delivered by mid-February. As the material is more expensive to produce the label stock, they are a bit more expensive than the laser labels. Below, please find the link and price breakdowns.
http://www.8bitclassics.com/index.php?cPath=24_28_140
Gloss Laser Label Cost Breakdown
Price each $1.25
Price for 10pk $10.00
Price for 100pk $90.00
Gloss InkJet Label Cost Breakdown
Price each $1.50
Price for 10pk $12.50
Price for 100pk $100.00
Until we receive them, we will have the labels on pre-order special for the same cost as our Laser Labels.
If you have any questions, please PM, reply here or email me at [email protected]
Thanks,
Corey

I'll go with 96, if that is taken, any of the available since only couple left

Did a search but came up with nothing. I figured it might have been discussed.
Anyway, you should do a tutorial with pictures
Right now, my hands/fingers feel like pretzels. Will keep working at it though. Thanks!

That is about it
I understand to push the pc board cover thing back, with the two clips. But are you saying break them off? I can actually get them both unhooked at the same time, but it doesn't help me with the others. As for labels, I like the ones with the plastic type label material. But I have a heat gun also, and that works well also.

I have a bunch of old combat carts that will be using to make new carts, and for the most part, I can open without much incident, but once and a while, the internal plastic clips break. Not that big of a deal as there are many in there holding it together. But wondering, if somebody has figured out the easiest way to open these things with the least amount of damage.
Thanks,
Corey

Find a IIE card and get like an LC575. You can setup a HD partition to transfer files and create disks.

Umm, do you mind if I pirate a copy and make a cart

Here is the link for blank labels you can buy.

On the page, I have a PDF how to go ahead and make your label with Photoshop. It will also work with others if you are more familiar with Paint Shop Pro or ?
To print them, I have selected to use Avery Label software which is free to use and allows you to print off one label at a time. A user has also printed using Microsoft Publisher.
Currently only have in stock laser printer labels, inkjet's will be ordered in the near future. Main reason I ordered laser labels first was because the toner won't smear when wet like inkjet, so I believe it is a little better quality.

Charles does have a point, graphics is one thing, but once you start adding / changing code, it is sometimes more than just a hack. As for the signed/limited edition/numbered copy, I do believe people for the most part charge more. How much signed copies go for on eBay just a year or two after it was released. $100 might be extreme though.Corey
What code was changed other then graphics?
Not sure, just posting what was mentioned above. I don't have the code, just the bin.

Thanks Charles for being a sport. Personally I did think this thread did get out of hand with some of the comments. It did prove a point, but could have been dealt with a little better. I will drop the price on the site and the boards have shipped (thanks Albert). I should receive them next week and testing will begin.
Now personally either continuing with this thread or via another titled properly, continue the topic on what people think is fair for charging for homebrew/hacks. I think those are quite fair. I am waiting for Adventure II and knowing it includes the game, manual, and box for $35, I thought was a great price. I am guessing Al has a place for these, because when I have looked into the possibility of boxes in the past, they were outrageous. Unless I could gaurantee so many sold and future homebrews/hacks I could sell on my site, I might invest into the tooling that it costs to get these made.
As for this thread, I am hoping people have gotten it out of there systems. I am sure it isn't making Charles feeling better how people are bashing the price. I know he has more he is producing and I hope he continues with them. It does take time even for hacks. While we all have our opinions, it is just that, opinions. Now I like the previous post, it would probably be helpful to all to understand what people are willing to pay so more people have an understanding of what they can/should charge.

Well I guess since my name is involved in this, I better post. Charles has emailed about the announement and the comments in regards to pricing mostly. Here is my take:
The Price - Set by Charles, I made a comment during the emails back and forth leading upto the release of Cyplix at 8-Bit Classics. AtariAge pretty much sets the price point I believe. I mentioned $25 to $35 is on average the price they go for which most people are willing to pay. But I personally would rather sell more at a smaller price than fewer at a higher rate. In the long run, I would make more money and so would Charles. But this is ultimately up to him.
Pricing structure - While I don't have the resources of AtariAge, my prices will be more expensive to produce. I am estimating around $12 to $15 for final cost with cartridges, eproms, boards, labels, printing, and manual. I can print the manuals in house, but don't have a paper folder or saddle stich unit, so those are being outsourced to a local shop at the moment so that is a bigger cost.
Piracy - I do believe the bin file is available for download here and do agree being a homebrew/hack, most are available to public to play in emulators or make your own cartridge. Charles is in it for a profit and I would imagine wouldn't mind making some money off of his work. Even though the game is based on somebody elses work, he did spend time making a fun and challenging game. Should the bin be made public, sure for all the enjoy. That is what this scene is about. The more you give, I feel, the more you get back in return.
Personally I am not a gung ho collector. The first homebrews I have purchased were in December(and still waiting). Yes I will purchase more, but I purchase ones I feel I would enjoy and don't mind paying for. The same goes for Cyplix. If Charles decides to keep it at $50, that is his choice. Will people buy it, yes. Will more people buy it if it was lower in price, of course. If we sold it at cost, they would probably flie off the shelf. So hopefully we will find a happy medium where people will find the game enjoyable enough to purchase.
This is my first venture into producing a cartridge and I do hope it turns out well as I enjoy the community and my first year in business has been great! I have gotten a lot of community support with my site and products I offer. I am always looking at new ventures where the investment would have a good return. All the money I have made on my site has gone back into my site with buying more used games/hardware, the Atari labels, and other upcoming ventures.
Well I guess now I am just rambling. So it is time for me to sign off

Thanks,
Corey

The lot doesn't include the carts. The carts were sold to somebody who didn't want the rest of the items (box, manuals, overlays).
Corey

Cool, did you leave the grey layer left on? If somebody wants to print them off, that would still be included. I guess that would only be if they use my labels I guess, otherwise it would be an area for them to cut around. Never, mind, just rambling

Yea I wanted a Colecovision label template as well and I think maybe we do need a new thread to keep new labels on one place here.
Hopefully I will be done with it this evening and post my replacement Donkey Kong label and Colecovision Photoshop Template. My 2600 labels pretty much fit the standard Colecovision cases except it is short by an 1/8 of an inch. So that just means a little extra cart showing on the end and top.
If anybody knows the exact font Coleco used for standard text, that would be great. I have been using Century Gothic which is close, but not 100%. I would say 90% accurate.
Corey

Post them if you can. Would love to see them. I am finishing work on a ColecoVision template myself and will be posting it in the Classic Gaming forum when it is done. Maybe a new label thread?

Haven't seen the original, but until Christmas day, I completely forgot about it. Bought my wife the new Manheim Steamrollers CD and played it on there. It was very cool, kids found it interesting.

I've notice that I can't find the FB2 listed on any of the major retailer sites like Target, Walmart, Best Buy or CompUSA so far...Lets hear from everyone as we all go out and stop into stores for the post-holiday bargains, lets see how many - if any FB2s remain on dealer shelves as so far from what I've seen, it does appear to have sold out.

What is sad is that I helped work on the dang thing and I can't even get my hands on a few for gifts, giveaways, etc. I was just going to spend the money and buy a few, and now I can't find them.
I'd be happy to pick up the units at my local Wal-mart and send them out to you at cost.

I picked up a premium on release day. Was in line for 5 1/2 hours and was #18 in line. Been playing since. Excellent system and does run hot, make sure it isn't in an enclosed area! Games I got was Perfect Dark Zero, Condemned, Tiger Woods 2k6, and Project Gotham 3. Project Gotham is currently on eBay as I don't know why I bought it. Never liked the series. I also purchased via Xbox Live Geometry Wars (addictive), Smash TV, Joust (free with Live subscription).
As for cost of the hard drive, I don't think $100 is bad especially when you look at the cost of a memory key for $40. My problem was the cost of the wireless controller, then needing to buy a $20 rechargable battery and charger cable. I like the wireless myself and works great at long distances.
Compatibility, tried couple games, but have an original Xbox I load my games on it (modified) to the hard drive. Loads quicker plus I can run emus on it.

That's an understatement
I ended up buying so many from Wal-marts before Xmas as I was waiting for my stock. -
Local Wal-Mart has about six on the shelf as of this week. My distributor has been out for a while with no ETA. They sold quickly when I had them in stock. Even FlashBack 1's sold well over Christmas. But since my cost and markup aren't that much, not sure if I will get anymore in stock as most people go to major retailers.

I will have #84 when Adventure II is released.

What is the eta on the Adventure II orders?
