  1. Came here to say Great Naval Battles (DOS), but I see this topic is more of a twitchy persuasion. Yeah, ship strafing, boss or otherwise, features in countless STGs. I bet it's in all the games from 1942 series, Strikers 1945, Ghots Pilots, sidewise in R-Type and many others.
  2. @KeatahI get it that you love & want to promote emulation, and in small doses it is fine, but you've really been overcooking it recently. Come on man, there's no need to insert the proselytizing angle in every and each thread where it is being mentioned.
  3. It is evil, but there's a pervasive myth that somehow on PC things are better, that it's an "open" platform (lol). As if Steam et al didn't require internet connection. Ok, there's GOG but if you're into modern games itls not a solution. At least on console you can actually buy a game in a box, and then resell it. Good luck doing it on PC.
  4. I'm also a Gooner and it's the first time in years I've been excited about a new season - but my optimism will remain cautious until we play the "big" teams. I've seen Arsenal's wheels come off too many times in recent years WAIT THIS IS A SEAWOLF THREAD FOR KRISSAKES WHAT ON EARTH IS THE CONNECTION HERE 🤣
  5. I guess you can't lose something you've never had. Probably the Wordpress/Goddady/etc website fees are coming up and they don't want to break the 10 quid founding capital. I know, I know, sounds like I'm making up a lame joke here. And yet: https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/12074750/filing-history
  6. It's probably more to do with the nature of the ao486 core. It was ported from Bosch's emulator somewhat directly and then kind of roughly chopped to measure on MiSTer. The result is not ideal, and seeing as it's hard to even compile it properly, the devs are reluctant to touch it. Maybe if it was written from scratch te results would be better. Still, it actually works pretty well in most cases.
  7. Dear Lord, you couldn't make it up. Literally no shame, and also zero fcks to give, having the cheek to write this.
  8. A few links from my speeddial. https://www.cpc-power.com/index.php?page=database http://msxgamesworld.com/search-results.php?title=picky https://www.generation-msx.nl/software/result?q=&searchtype=&sy[]=MSX&sy[]=MSX2&ki[]=game&p=16&sort=year&dir=asc http://www.bbcmicro.co.uk/ http://plus4world.powweb.com/games What amazes me is that most of the micros, even the more obscure ones, have some sort of thouroughly researched Atarimania-likes, with lots of extras - especially docs. Apple II though...not much, in fact nothing bar Virtual Apple ][, and that's just a site with some games. If you just want to quickly find a game to download this one is pretty good: http://www.oldgamesfinder.com/
  9. Of course, but if you know how this scene mostly works in 2022 then I'm sure you'll understand where my comment was coming from If you really aren't aiming to flip it then more power to you, and I hope you'll enjoy having this special gem. The rest of us has that great photo of CC as a consolation prize, and it's quite awesome too.
  10. One-post guy sends a PM. Expect to see it on ebay for >500 USD tomorrow
  11. Yeah, what the retro world definitely needs is more SNES coverage. This console is seriously underrepresented and nobody wants to talk about it anywhere. *eyeroll.gif*
  12. No, they aren't mentioned anywhere in his actual description, which is written quite clearly and has a heap of quality photos. So good luck with forcing him to do anything, since I'm pretty sure ebay would see it as a form filling typo and not an attempt to mislead. Seriously, you guys sound like you've never made a simple mistake in your online auctions. It happens, not a big deal really.
  13. The bundle description is probably ebay's template, put in by mistake. Apart from the price there isn't really that much wrong with this auction.
  14. In most cases MiSTer should display stuff in a 1:1 fashion on a CRT compared to OG hardware. There should be no scaling artifacts whatsoever, if you're seeing any make sure your config is OK. NeoGeo has a bit of a width problem, but scaling is still 1:1. Connecting to an arcade monitor can be indeed problematic, but that mostly would affect colours/brightness (like what you describe), not scaling.
  15. Deary me, how the mighty have fallen. First Athena Worlds, now this.
  16. I've been using the Dark Reader extension (Firefox) for some time now. It enables a configurable "dark mode" when browsing AA and other sites. It has worked very well before but since the migration there are some elements which refuse to cooperate and remain very bright, even when tweaking all the parameters in DR, thus spoiling the effect. I mean the white bars in this example: I realize it's a somewhat external issue and don't know if it can be "fixed" and wouldn't expect it to. Still, I thought I'd mention it. Maybe somebody is using Dark Reader too and has an idea how to remedy that, or perhaps there's some other way to enable dark mode for AA?
  17. I would normally do it, assuming of course that you would pay for any expenses up front. I also eyeball some things in other countries which won't ship abroad, so I understand how frustrating this can be. But I'm currently moving out of Europe for a long period of time, so that puts a damper on things.
  18. There really is no point in the "why not just get a mini PC/RPi" posts, because there are people, OP included, who don't want to go through any setting up process whatsoever, for whatever reason - and that's perfectly fine. These ready-made boxes are for them, not for me or you. The lack updates doesn't really matter for them that much because they are highly unlikely to be bothered by whatever minuscule imperfections might be present at this point in time (and most 8-16 bit emus are pretty much "complete" already). The one problem I see with the Super Console X (and probably most of its ilk) are the cheapo controllers - that's the weak link. If I was buying one of these things I'd first research if it's possible to use some of the better existing ones (Sony, MS, 8bitdo, etc).
  19. I seem to recall ebay fees used to be somewhere between 1-5% at the beginning, which was quite reasonable. But, as every other disruptor company, they followed a simple model of starting with free/low charges, attaining a huge userbase and/or becoming a near-monopoly, and then gradually increasing the fees. And so here we are.
  20. I've spent a few thousand on hardware (plus some soft) over the last few years, building a very modest collection. The only reason I did that is because I know that the value of this stuff is not going to go down. In fact, it has mostly gone up since I started, but planning on that wasn't a reason for me buying. I don't treat it as an "investment", more of a solid or slightly profitable cash equivalent. I know I will sell 80% of all that stuff in the next few years or so, and at the moment I just enjoy having and using it. And no, none of it was bought on credit or loan. I don't even have a credit card, which makes it much easier to avoid such thoughts
  21. You mean Retrode? That's actually pretty cool, I didn't know it was possible on MiSTer. But, yeah, if somebody is interested only in Megadrive then SG is a neater solution than MiSTer's many-cables/add-ons one.
