The ones from post 17 of this thread. Modules or databases or games? Do I need to use the programs posted here to convert them?

I am trying to get this to work. I have ADVENTURE on the FG99. I downloaded these modules and copied them to my TIPI/32k. I set the directory I copied them to, ADVENTURE, as DSK1. When I start the program and it asks where the database is, I type ‘DSK1.ADVENTUR’. The light on the TIPI flashes and I get ‘FILE NOT FOUND’. If I type ‘CS1’, it goes into the cassette dialog. Please help me get into these adventures.

Yes, it comes up to +5 immediately. I started with R9 and R10 because they had a lot of rust on them before I cleaned the board. Thanks for the answer, I did order some 3 watt, 1% resisters yesterday. I figured better too large than too small. If they don’t fit the holes, I can use jumper wires to test.

I believe you can set a jumper on the TIPI/32k to disable the 32k and use SAMS if you want. Arcadeshopper can give you more info.

I did some more testing. Both R9 and R10 showed high resistance in circuit, M ohm in one direction and k ohm in the other. They are supposed to be 0.56 ohm resistors. They don’t have color markings, just 0.56 stamped on them. Does anyone know what wattage and tolerance they are?

That tested good. 5.214 volts as soon as powered on. That connects to pin 5 of U3, which also tests good. Any idea which component I should check first? Resister, capacitor, power transistor, or inductor? I’m thinking resister or power transistor. Not sure how to test the transistors.

I am working on a very corroded beige unit. I soaked the parts in citric acid solution to remove the rust am am now testing each part, starting with the power supply. The 12 and minus 5 volt rails seem fine, but the plus 5 volt rail takes about 30 seconds to come up and then stabilizes at 5.207 volts. This doesn’t seem correct. Unfortunately, TI used a complicated circuit for the plus 5 volt rail instead of a 7805. Anyone here willing to help me troubleshoot?

I just tried it. I haven’t heard much TI music so I have no comparison, but it does sound nice.

I have made some changes to my system. Got pin the right angle micro USB adapters so I can finally use the speech synthesizer. Used Parsec to test it. It works but I suck at the game. Also I had been using an AV2VGA converter and a 17” monitor as an upgrade to the 10 inch monitor I used for testing. I got the pictured TV from eBay it is 15” which seems to be a better match to the computer. Big enough that my old eyes can see things but not so big that it looks really pixelated. I am still trying to test the tape player.

Thanks. I was just reading about the p-code card. Not an attractive option. There are a few “TIPI enabled” programs out there. How were those created?

I bought the manual for fbforth. Just got it Saturday. Is the p-system available and can stand alone programs be created using it? I want to be able to create programs that can be used by anyone with a means to load them. I thought I was doing that with Turbo Pasc 99, but discovered that the program only works when my FG99 has Editor/Assembler loaded.

I plan to move on to FBFORTH, but I did some programing in Pascal Back in the 80s. Figure to get my feet wet with the TI using it and then move on. Don’t plan on writing any major software either.

I don’t get a runtime error. I get a message saying there weren’t any. This is nice when developing, but I wouldn’t want a finished program to display it. There is probably a way to suppress or trap it.

It might also be that I am not as quick to learn new things as I was back in 1982 when I got the VIC20 and 1985 when I bought my C128. LOL

I intend to install ForceCommand once I figure some of this stuff out. I know this all probably seems easy to most of you, but to me coming from a Commodore and PC background, it is very strange. I think I see why the VIC 20 sold better. It really isn’t as powerful, but much easier to use.

Cool, I will look. I have been reading so much between TIPI, FinalGROM99, FBFORTH, Turbo Pasc’99, etc that I just can’t absorb it all.

I have an idea for a new feature for the TIPIs. I find myself changing the disk mapping depending on what I am trying to do. The auto feature helps a little, but doesn’t always do what I want. So I was wondering if a feature to have multiple config files could be implemented. So I could have say “TP99.cfg” for when running Turbo Pasc’99 , “FB4TH.cfg” for when I am running FBFORTH, etc. So call TIPI, load config, reset and go. What are your thoughts?

It worked! I can even run it with CALL TIPI(“DSK1.TEST1”). Is there a way to suppress the message about runtime errors at the end? I also noticed there are programs named ASSM1 and ASSM2 in the TP3 directory. Can they be used instead of the editor/Assembler cartrigpdge?

Thanks! I have been reading the manual, but it wasn't clear to me what the steps were to go from source code to a working program. I will keep this shorter document handy at least until I have all of this.

I would prefer to create program files that can be used with just TIPI, I think that is an EA5 file? When I load “test” into the editor, I can see what looks like assembly language to me. Do I use the Assembler next?
