WTB: Balance of Power (Chris Crawford) MS-DOS 3.5 inch Setup Disk
SumerNivek replied to SumerNivek's topic in Wanted
Yes, the RLX has a 1.44MB floppy drive. I think it can read 720K disks, as I just installed King's Quest 1 and 2 (the late 80s reissues), and both of those appear to be 720k disks and only have data on one side. -
WTB: Balance of Power (Chris Crawford) MS-DOS 3.5 inch Setup Disk
SumerNivek replied to SumerNivek's topic in Wanted
Eightbit, if you are able to try on a 3.5 inch disk, I would greatly appreciate it. I have a Tandy 1000 RLX, and I only have a 3.5 inch drive on it (no external 5.25 drive, I am afraid). Let me know if you are able to do this, and let me know how much I owe you for the diskette and shipping. I REALLY appreciate it, my friend. (And feel free to get through the holidays before you even attempt this...I know we are all busy around this time of year!) -
Hello all, If anyone has a spare 3.5 inch "Setup" disk (MS-DOS version) for Chris Crawford's original "Balance of Power," I would be willing to buy it, or, if you are able to make a copy of the disk on a blank 3.5 inch floppy, I would pay you for your troubles for doing that and sending it to me. I am trying to install this game back on my Tandy 1000 RLX. However, my Setup disk cannot be read by my Tandy's 3.5 inch floppy. The "Build" disk and the "Program" disk appear to be readable, as my A: Drive floppy can read their directories. However, no luck with even getting the A prompt to come up for the Setup disk. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Going to bump this from earlier in the year, but just wanted to say, I FINALLY set up my RLX today. My wife and I just moved into our new house last week, so I was waiting all this time to get the Tandy up and running. To my astonishment and surprise, the 1000 RLX I bought off of eBay all those months ago in the early summer already has a meg of RAM in it, as well as a 30-meg hard drive! I was actually very surprised there was a hard drive in it, as the auction didn't advertise it nor the extra RAM. A nice little surprise after all of these months not knowing what I had!

Brand New Atari Jaguar Pro Controllers- For Sale!
SumerNivek replied to Starwander's topic in Atari Jaguar
Just sent in my interest email. I am assuming I am not too late since it is not December 31 yet. -
Just signed up two nights ago for his email address. I have yet to get any type of Apple II computer, but started looking into getting one this past week. After researching hard drive options this week, I stumbled across the CFFA 3000 and other options. As luck would have it, Mr. Dreher is doing another run right when I decide I want to get into the Apple II/IIgs scene. I just signed up for his email, so here is hoping I can get one of the 1000 and then an Apple II.

I have the GOG version as well as my hold Origin Classic Gold CD version. I use the GOG version mostly, as it is super convenient, even with the audio problems. It may just be me, but I could NEVER play any of the WCs consistently well with a flight stick to get very far in them. In fact, I believe keyboard controls, for me, are far superior to any flight stick. I find the keyboard to be more precise than any stick I tried using back in the day. I have beaten every single WC game (including Privateer and all of the mission packs for WC 1 and 2) with the keyboard as my flight controller. If you have never played WC with a keyboard, give it a try...you may be surprised at how well it handles.

Super Nintendo Classic Edition - SNES Mini thread
SumerNivek replied to Rev's topic in Classic Console Discussion
So, what's the first game everyone is playing? Me, I went with Super Punch-Out. I had not played that game in seriously 20 years. Not as fun as NES Punch-out, but still great. I then proceeded to do some single-player SF Turbo and went through it all with Sagat. -

Well, guys, just got back from my local WalMart and I was able to snag one at the midnight sale! They had 45 of them and gave out tickets. I showed up around 10:30 and there were only 9 tickets left...so got a little lucky. Good conversations with my fellow gamers while we waited. I hope all of you who want one can get one! -

Thanks for the link to Brickseek! I just called my local WalMart, and they will be selling them at midnight. My wife convinced me to go to WalMart tonight instead of Best Buy or Gamestop early tomorrow morning. I took off yesterday just for this damn thing! According to Brickseek, looks like my WalMart has just about 50 in stock. I plan to head out in two hours and get there around 11 PM. Hopefully that is not too late for any line that develops back at the electronics department. -
Classic Computer And Gaming Expo of Central KY
SumerNivek replied to etownandy's topic in Tandy Computers
Good luck with the show! I have two little ones and another on the way this late winter, so I wouldn't be able to exhibit, but I would be interested in attending. Nice way to spread some love for Kentucky through the later half of the year, with the Arcade Expo being in the spring usually. Again, good luck, and hoping to attend next year! -
Oh, thank you! I am still learning the ins-and-outs of the RLX, as I never have had one before, so I am pretty ignorant to a lot of this. So, basically, a person just has to pop in these chips into the appropriate sockets and voila...you are good to go? Like I said, I have yet to open up the RLX, but are its innards pretty easy to navigate when it comes to placing RAM chips in? I guess after those, all I would need is a CF XTIDE board for the 8-bit slot to be used as a hard drive and the RLX should be fun to play with!

Oh, wow, thanks for posting this, as I would not have heard of it otherwise! I am in the Cincinnati metro area, so this is VERY doable for me. Will have to talk to the wife and see what we have going on, but hoping to attend!

Very timely post from you regarding this, as I was just trying to figure out how to add RAM to my Tandy. Alas, the Tandy I recently picked up is a RLX. I have yet to examine it fully, but I am playing it safe and assuming it only has the standard 512k. Do you know of ANY homebrew projects that are addressing the RLX and getting it up to the 1 Meg that RLX-HDs have? It seems most games I want to play on my new RLX want to have 640k of RAM.

^ Yes, I have finally started calling Particles this week. For months, my hangouts have been Borderline and Cottonwood ran by Balzabaar. I finally branched out recently. I haven't explored Particles too much, but I plan to this weekend!

Hey Moonlight! I have successfully telnetted to you via a Commodore 64 and using a WiModem (that Jim Drew created). Looking forward to perusing the BBS this weekend! EDIT: I thought my terminal was stuck, but I figured out what was going on.

Thanks for the update, Curt! And please take care of yourself...that is the #1 priority!

Keith Robinson passed away :(
SumerNivek replied to retroillucid's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
Dang, I just heard about this today...on Father's Day when I went to AA's home page. RIP Keith. You WILL be missed! -
Very awesome! Always loved artillery games. Great hot seat type of game. I will have to type this in this fall/winter after we move into our new house and get the TI set up!

Thanks to both of you replying! I now have a Tandy 1000 RLX on the way. I will need to pick up a VGA monitor to use it, though, at some point. I will have to check out the Yahoo group as well, but it sounds like just older IBM PC/MS-DOS websites would be most tailored to discussion about the Tandy 1000s. Digress, how difficult is it to install that compact flash drive and configure it with the RLX's BIOS? And, where does one pick one of those up at?

Hi all, Been very interested in getting back into a Tandy 1000. I had one as a kid in the 80s (a SX, I believe), and I have recently found some old programs and games that I had way back then at my mom's house. Unfortunately, she no longer has the actual Tandy 1000. Anyway, I was curious, is there a good community website like AtariAge for the equivalent of Tandy 1000s? A place that lists all the hardware and different models of 1000s and has an active forum to ask questions? Or, is there a more encompassing Tandy site that would include all things Tandy (TRS-80, CoCo, and the 1000)? I am asking as it seems information about the 1000s are spread in bits and pieces around the web, so I was curious if there is a centralized site where the Tandy community coalesces and active discussion of Tandy 1000s take place. Thanks!

Awesome! I just got my first pin last week, actually. Not an Atari. It is a Bally (after they had merged with Midway): Party Animal! It doesn't have the highest reviews on Pinside or the IPDB, but I am really loving it so far. Plus, the theme is really good for my kids...and its an 80s dance party!

Yep, I will be there today! Driving down from Walton, KY. I had no idea the SNES Play Station proto was going to be there, so thanks for the heads up!
