  1. I just got my very first 3DS two weeks ago, so I plan to play it, obviously! There are so many games I missed out on in the last few years that I think I am set for the near future.
  2. What iamnotgoomba said! I was actually thinking about that first "sizzle" or "intro" video last night...you know the one...where they are all standing in the game store and aren't facing the camera? Did anyone (StopDrop&Retro, perhaps?) save a copy of that video? My wife has the flu today, so I am staying in on a Saturday, so I might as well reminisce this project from its hilarious beginning!
  3. Welcome! This is a great place to talk retro games and consoles...especially Atari (though the Intellivision community is strong here too). It is more than just the Coleco Chameleon debacle that we talk about here! By the way, LOVE your avatar pic!
  4. Anyone want to give good old Kevin Bow a "poke" on Facebook and make sure he is all right tonight? Today was, like, his Xmas Morning.
  5. Well, my first post in THIS thread...had a few others in the other, closed thread, but have been lurking on this one for the last two months. Anyway, as the supposed KS Day has come, I just wanted to thank Pipercub, UK Mike, Triverse, Ian (pxlsicle), and others for covering this and the warning signs that have been noted at Toy Fair. I appreciate all the effort to get the word out for those of us who can't follow it too closely. Keep up the good fight, guys! Someone contact GameEscape (StopDrop&Retro...looking at you!) and have him get another Nostalgia SH-IT video up and going!
  6. I actually don't have a any version of the 3DS yet (Old or New, regular or XL), but I have recently been tempted to get one based on Link Between Worlds game that I JUST found out about! Looks like I have missed a ton of good games in the handheld space lately. I have a Vita that gets no play time as there is really nothing on the system that interests me...in fact, my DSi and GameBoy Pocket get more action. Besides the Zelda game, these Fire Emblem games (which I have no experience with) look very fun. So, guys, what are your top 5 must have games for the 3DS that a newbie should start with? I enjoy platforming games besides RPGs and adventure games. Also, is Nintendo going to release the regular sized New 3DS to the US anytime soon, or do we have to rely on Animal Crossing and Pokemon bundles to get it for the foreseeable future? Thanks for your input for this 3DS newb!
  7. Thanks for the update, Ninjabba!
  8. Nope, US unit! I suppose System Card 3s for US units go for a quite a pretty penny?
  9. Still haven't gotten my CD Rom unit fixed. Hopefully with the coming year, I can talk to one of the guys on PCEnggine FX.com about fixing it. In the mean time, I only have a System 2 card for the CD Rom unit. I know the System 3 cards and the Arcade cards are hard to find and expensive. Any suggestions on where to find at least a System 3 card at a reasonable price? Thanks, guys.
  10. I was actually bummed when I just checked Keith's website and saw that they are sold out now. But then, after checking this thread from less than a month ago, maybe I dodged a bullet? Hopefully they offer them again after working out the kinks in their shipping.
  11. So...uh...who really DID let the dogs out?

Michael Vick.. but only on the condition that they kill each other.

  12. About time! Check out the homebrews for the Atari systems while you are at it in the store. If you buy a few, you would be supporting retro developers who have actually produced something for the community! And if you have a Mattel Aquarius, talk to Jay! (An honor to plug the Aquaricart, Jay!!!)
  13. You called it first? I thought I did? And I win a...Nostalgia SH-IT???? In all seriousness, the post yesterday from Mike after the obvious disagreement amongst themselves in the interview pretty much confirmed Carlsen was out!
  14. From my observations and what others here have observed, as well as what I thought was Steve's own admission on the interview that he has been absent from the forums and FB, I thought Steve had been absent from their FB page for the last few weeks and that it was mostly John and Mike commenting? Sorry if I was incorrect in this observation!
  15. Thanks, Goldenegg. Draiker/Roberta, I was not trying to upset you with my remark. Just trying to decipher what they mean about a change in the hardware team. We will all have to wait to find out, but I couldn't stop from hypothesizing. Even though I thought this campaign was confusing and mishandled, I don't hate Mike at all. In a post earlier in this thread (many pages ago), I actually said that my one interaction with Mike was with the non-delivery of an issue of a Retro Magazine issue, and once I contacted him directly, he took care of it right away, which I then emailed him and thanked him for his help.
  16. Yes, the way they worded the announcement this morning, I immediately thought Carlsen was "pushed out" or asked to leave and that they brought you back in the fold with some whirlwind deal that happened last night. Now that you confirmed that you were not contacted and Pipercub has said he is also not "in," I wonder what the "adjustment" to the hardware team is? Someone asked earlier in the thread who everyone thought would be the first one to leave the project. After seeing the announcement, I wonder if it is Carlsen who left? Just got the feeling that he and Steve did not really see eye-to-eye based on the interviews put out by RGR and Triverse...John seemed to blow off Steve's explanations and thoughts, and Steve would pick up on it and throw it back in his face in a good natured manner. I don't know, I am probably misunderstanding their demeanors during the two interviews I heard, but it did seem that John and Steve have some kind of rift...especially since Steve is the one commenting on their Facebook page and not John currently (i.e. the exact opposite of this weekend).
  17. LOVE the reference! I watch the place when the Master is away...
  18. My first reply to this thread since this crowdfunding started...I have been busy with life! Anyway, I was pretty excited about RVGS earlier this year, and was excited last week when we found out the exact time when the campaign would launch on Saturday. I had made family plans (pumpkin patch with the kiddo in the morning) when it was going to launch, and perhaps that was a good thing. Around noon eastern when my daughter was still frolicking amongst pumpkins, I decided to steal a peek at this thread to see what all of you were saying. Let's just say that many of your comments (especially someone like Jay, whose opinion I have come to value on the Aquarius sub-forum, even if I have been quiet myself recently...loving my Aquaricart, BTW) definitely made me hesitate in pledging, and then after Kevtris's bombshell, I decided to sit the campaign out no matter what now. Anyway, just wanted to say, though some of the subtle jabs at Mike are amusing (the Nostalgia SH-IT being pretty hilarious), some have been a little too personal or mean-spirited. I did not Kickstart Retro Mag, but I subsequently became a subscriber through their website, and I had a delivery problem with one of them recently. I personally emailed Mike and he took action to rectify the problem right away, so he is a good guy from what I can tell personally. But I agree he has had some mis-steps on this project...but I am hoping he can go back to the drawing board and figure out the next step (prototype prior to launching a campaign) for RVGS. Lastly, welcome to all of the new people on AtariAge who came here after being directed here from RVGS Facebook page. This is a great community to talk old-school games, specifically Atari. Thanks to Albert for letting us discuss this topic and helping people to make an informed decision on the RVGS.
  19. Pick up the 3D glasses if you get a chance. Such a novelty, and I am glad I got them when I could. Not sure how much they go for anymore, but they are definitely are conversation starters among retro gaming enthusiasts.
  20. Love your setup, Opry. It might inspire me to do this with my carts instead of keeping them in the cabinets of the entertainment center!
  21. I guess the Jr would only get the nod if space is a commodity on your entertainment stand...like it is on mine! Jr is hooked up over my heavy sixer for the moment so my Jag, Sega Saturn, PS1, and a few others get some space as well. But, as others say, normally the 4 switch woody would be the better choice!
