(Not over) 9,000. Am I the only one who kind of prefers the CX52 on this one? I have it on the 800, and I think I do better on the 52.

Well, guess I'll go first. 8,390.

HSC15 Round 23: There are Three Ts in Space...
MrTrust replied to therealbountybob's topic in 8-bit High Score Club
Transmuter 55,388 Is anyone else finding there's an invisible wall on what would be the left side of the top-down view in Tanium? I keep having my ship crash if I go too far left, when it doesn't seem like I should be. Maybe an NTSC phenomenon? -

Actually, I played in the joust round, too. You've got me in the standings twice there, so it looks like I should be at 20? -

Extirpator - 41,050 Transmuter - 46,115 Tanium- 18,317 Indeed these are pretty good for budget games. All run just fine on my NTSC machine. Happy New Year, everyone. -

65,125. Wow, I am really not good at any 5200 games. -
Damn, detacher, go easy! I've got a broken joystick over here. RE: Dark Chambers, what was that old saying "the people have voted for what they want, and they'll get it good and hard"? Actually, the game's not THAT bad except the energy does not drain fast enough when you don't eat.

Detached, I believe you're correct about the difficulty switch. I went through to M the second time on my first play. Second time, I was at W. I wondered about point scabbing, which is impossible to keep track of. I went trough carefully, but didn't milk the heart spawners, so that's about as fair as you can make it, I guess, but I don't think it gets harder after standard, so this one is a test of patience.

Second try. EDIT: Actually fourth try after I remembered to play on the right difficulty.

200 HSC Season 11 Round 14 - Star Raiders

Getting a photo's almost as hard as getting the rank! Jeez, I don't remember warrior being that tough. -
Zorp is intense. I actually broke my joystick trying to run away from the monsters, and had to set this one with an Epyx 500XJ, which was less than ideal.

Didn't go all the way this time. Theoretically, if you're careful enough, you can just go for as long as you want on this one. You'd just need the patience of Job to do it.
-
Oh God, why!? The game never f*****g ends. EDIT: That game was on Standard. I must have jogged the stick when I put it down to take the picture. Not that it makes much of a difference.

ARGH, my software crashes every time I try to collage my photos. Some improvement on Wargames: Skill 2: 134,160,000 Skill 3: 216,270,000 Skill 4: 275,420,000 Skill 5: 308,540,000 Skill 6: 365,880,000 I loved this one on Colecovision when I was younger, though I'm not sure the controls aren't actually better on this version. I never paid a whole lot of attention to how the game actually works, though. Now, I'm seeing there's a real problem with the difficulties. The game takes 7 minutes or so, but nothing much actually happens until the last 2, at which point I'm not sure it's possible not to lose a few bases and a city or two against the final salvo, so you hit a ceiling on what you can score pretty quickly. That is, unless you're playing on Skill 7 or 8, in which case you're just getting deluged right out the gate. There's not really a sweet spot, difficulty-wise. Wow! I didn't realize Computer War actually had the branding from the movie on it at one point. It's nowhere to be found on the cartridge I got. I thought it was funny how obviously inspired by the movie it was. I wonder if it was actually a regional thing, with the US versions being generic, and the UK ones being licensed. youxia, believe me, you're not alone in hating the controls of Computer War.

Hope I'm not too late, though I I think my scores are pretty sad regardless. Blew through them as fast as I could. WARGAMES: Skill 1: 88,130,000 Skill 2: 114,870,000 Skill 3: 205,240,000 Skill 4: 229,360,000 Skill 5: 291,610,000 Skill 6: 201,630,000 Skill 7: 223,510,000 Skill 8: 84,090,000 COMPUTER WAR: 1,941

HSC Season 15 Round 9: C'est La Vie
MrTrust replied to therealbountybob's topic in 8-bit High Score Club
Steady improvement, but I did not get any games with a wild enough market to make any big trades, and I was getting totally hosed on the maze layouts this morning. -
HSC Season 15 Round 9: C'est La Vie
MrTrust replied to therealbountybob's topic in 8-bit High Score Club
Oh, come ON! I was waiting two days to get validated, and the second I'm weapons free, someone's already broken 2,000. Oh well. Edit: Also, the game's actually pretty decent, and definitely comparable to Getaway, but the random maze does make a big difference in how much you can score. If you get a game where the important buildings are on dead ends, it's easy to get cornered by the thieves and you'll end up with less money.
