  1. I can see the validity in your analysis, Pixelboy, but I am more inclined to think the program is structured the same as the other supergames available based on in-game behaviors (titles, loads and hall of fame, etc) that seemed to feed off the extra Ram, but used the Colecovision as the core engine for the game. The game was available on Disk format, which would limit the code to 160k (even with 9 games levels), and most likely in the smaller chunks you speak of --again, 9 levels into 160k if they're evenly distributed with no overhead would be 17.7K. I'm sure there's overhead. :) None of the levels are overly complex gaming. So I say it's doable-- just beyond my skill level. :)

Even the fact near identical versions were ultimately ported to most mid 80's systems (Amstrad, C-64, etc) is something of a reason to think it's portable to the Colecovision. And if nothing else, maybe the other c-64 series games, like Singe's castle would be portable back to the Adam or CV! :) Ok, Wishful thinking... but the original is the same game play between the Adam and C-64. :)

There are other finished or nearly finished ADAM games that could be put on a cartridge easier: A.E., Hard Hat Mack, Pinball Construction Set, Family Feud, Jeopardy, Temple of Apshai.

  2. You could just buy an ADAM for like $5 or get one for free. They come with A/V out built-in and don't have a troublesome power switch like the CV.

How can I do that ole Iron Eyes Cody?

    (scuze my ignorance)

Look on ebay, tradin times and Craigslist for ADAM's. You can't give them away. The ones that sell for decent money on ebay are the huge software/hardware bundles or the ones mint in the original box/shipping container. A loose ADAM console by itself can't get $5.00.

  3. For sale, a new, unused Advent 2055 20 inch color flatscreen, stereo, has component video input, composite video, S-video input, antennae/cable/RF input. TV is adjustable to display NTSC , PAL or SECAM. This is the only TV I've ever seen for sale in North America that had this feature. I bought this as a backup TV and have never used it, except to test that it works. It also has side A/V inputs for quickly and easily connecting a system without having to get in back. No longer will you be stopped from buying games from anywhere on the planet! Finally, you can snag all those PAL and SECAM games from UK, Brazil, France and not have to worry about not being able to play them.

    Includes a remote control.

    $169.99 shipped

  4. I can't believe how everyone chose the 2600 over the Astrocade back then. It cost more but not that much more and it's so much better than the 2600. I guess it's just one more example of the cheapest hardware winning the war. That would've been awesome if they had left the high-res circuitry connected and offered an optional memory expansion to support it, like they did with the N64. It's still an amazing piece of hardware when you look at how close the Incredible Wizard is running on the simple Astrocade compared to Wizard of Wor running on arcade hardware that required like 6-8 large pcb boards.

  5. 1. I've questioned it before with no real resolution, but if DK and DKJ image can be put on cart, shouldn't we be able to get Dragon's Lair on a cart, too?? :)

    Murph

Maybe a Megacart. DK and DKJ didn't really fit onto a cart. They had to cut out the title screen, high score screen, maybe some intermissions and the 5th screen, Mario's Hideout/bakery from DKJ. There's no way you could squeeze DL into 32k. It might not even run on CV without a memory expansion.

  6. I think there were only 3, I've only seen 3, Zaxxon, Donkey Kong, DK Jr. I don't know why they did this because I've seen Zaxxon (floppy disc version)sold in a flat box that I think they also sold the cassette version in. It would've been awesome if they had started that trend early on and sold all the cart games in those cabinet shaped boxes.

  7. Who the F$%k is great.throwdini on ebay? He/she buys nothing but CV/ADAM stuff, often thousands of dollars worth of CV stuff every month including multiples of the same games and hardware over and over.

I really dont know who he is...he's been buying stuff forever, but rarely ever any big money items. Is he really buying that much stuff?

Take a look at his feedback from stuff he's bought. It's nothing but CV stuff, tons of it, and like I said, a lot of the same stuff over and over and over. Is he stocking a store or something?

  8. Speaking of the CV... does anyone know how many of the Sean Kelly multicarts made it out the door before he had to stop selling them?

Which ones. He made ones that used dip switches for a long time, I had two of them. He made only a few of the menu driven kind. Most of those supposedly ended up failing. Of course those are the only kind anyone wants.

  9. I haven't noticed any upsurge in demand for CV items. Last few times I listed CIB CV commons on ebay cheap, I got zero bids. I eventually gave them all away because I couldn't sell them at any price.
