Someone sold a pirated copy of Bounty Bob
Bill Brasky replied to holygrailvideogames.com's topic in Auction Central
We have a winner! There is a real problem with eBay when someone can just open up a new account after their last account was booted. Obviously he has had his PayPal account frozen as well. I thought it was against eBay's rules to open up another account after you had an account booted. Sorry to dash your hopes and dreams, but you are wrong on all accounts. You are making assumptions about things which you know nothing about. I will try and be short and to the point. (1) My father owns 8bit (2) The masterplay you are talking about is my design based on his origional concept. (3) Not that its any of your concern, the Ebay account is mine, and yes Paypal really does SUCK, which is why I don't accept their payments. (4) He canceled his Ebay account, and no his Paypal account is not frozen. Again, try and at the very least know some facts before posting stupid comments. Oh, and (5) the Bounty Bob cart I sold is NOT a pirate. I bought it several years ago without a case. He's definitely right about one thing, EXTREMELY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. -
Sequel to Classic ColecoVision Games
Bill Brasky replied to ColecoNation's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Gorf. Jamie Fenton already created the sequel, Ms. Gorf, years ago. There just has never been a release for it. She said she has a videotape of the gameplay still. That would be an awesome system exclusive of a long lost arcade game. -
That's no moon, it's a Coleco Adam!
Bill Brasky replied to Lord Thag's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I'm about to blow out a bunch of ADAM software, books and technical manuals for anyone interested. -

Bill Brasky replied to Lord Thag's topic in Classic Console Discussion
There is ADAM to PC to ADAM software available. I have it on my other PC though I've never used it. It's out there if you search for it. It's a bit beyond my technical knowledge how to use it though. -
Saturn "mod chips" aren't like PSX mod chips which were an actual chip. The Saturn's were a mini pcb board and cost like $50. I don't think they were made in huge quanities and were ever as readily available as psx chips.

I don't know how hard this would be. I don't think it would be that hard for a CV programmer. I'm not asking for any changes made to the gameplay or graphics or anything. It would just be cool if there was a version that had joystick control instead. I don't want to get the driving module out of storage and hook it all up to a table and find D-cell batteries for it and set the gas pedal up just right, for a quick game of Turbo or Destructor. The novelty of the driving controller wore off years ago and now it's just a pain in the ass. Some games like Pitstop recognize either controller but I've always preferred the joystick for it's faster response.

I've never heard of an Antarctic Adv proto. Mattel Bump n Jump is a less refined version of the final release. IIRC the skill level select is different, the graphics have small differences and I think it lacks a season, like winter. Mattel Burgertime is totally different from the final release. The title screen is different and everything is smaller. The final release is much better. I have a version of CPK called the 128k version. I don't know if it really is. Some of the backgrounds are different, diff title screen. It might be closer to 'Athletic Land' on the MSX. Never heard of a monkey academy proto. I've never seen the actual Moon Patrol rom anywhere, just Flying Brassieres/matt patrol. It wouldn't be too hard to change the graphics back to their original state though.

The 'Super Action' CV sports game you'd want most
Bill Brasky replied to Pixelboy's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Oops! Another obvious one I forgot about! And as for bowling, I wouldn't actually mind a bowling game on the CV, but I can't imagine how it could use the Super Action Controllers in any significant way over the standard CV controllers... 1031982 Sure you could. There's a lot of variables that could be controlled with the different buttons and the spinner, power of throw and direction of spin. Try Ten Pin Alley. Video game bowling is a lot of fun when done right, even for non-bowlers like myself. And yes, curling might make a fun video game. -

How good is this Colecovision top 10 list?
Bill Brasky replied to 8th lutz's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Several of the best CV games are very rare and these top 10 lists often look like they're put together by people who have never played them or are unaware of them. What about: Up 'n' Down, Bump 'n' Jump, Burgertime, Spy Hunter, Galaxian, HERO, Lady Bug, Mr Do!, Mr Do's Castle, Qbert's Qubes, Sewer Sam, Frenzy, Tapper. Now that there's a flash multi-cart coming out, the rarity is a non-issue. Those up-coming Opcode releases like the Pac Man Collection look killer. -
Alternate Colecovision controllers

Those "stickler" snap on joysticks are fairly easy to find NOS. I think you would be better off just epoxying a joystick onto the mushrooms stem. -
Why are CV multicarts considered illegal by Ebay?
Bill Brasky replied to Bill Brasky's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Yes, it's says it's ok to copy them but not to sell them for profit. -
Why are CV multicarts considered illegal by Ebay?
Bill Brasky replied to Bill Brasky's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Well my CV auctions are yanked almost instantly. I doubt anyone could've emailed Ebay authorities and they acted that swiftly. They must have some software bot just scanning auction titles or something. I don't know what they're looking for in the title. "multicart" can't be it because they allow other multicarts. Those GBA multicarts contain NES roms. When they cancel an auction they send me some form letter about illegal NES carts/violating Nintendo copyrights. I explain to them that I'M NOT selling anything to do with Nintendo games or systems and that Coleco is out of biz. It does no good. Yet they allow others to go on selling their pirated GBA carts all day, every day. -
If I list a Colecovision or a Famicom multicart auction, it is ended almost instantly, minutes after I list it, by Ebay because they claim it's illegal. Yet you can find Vectrex and GBA multicart auctions ALL THE TIME and Ebay never shuts them down. I think they treat 5200 multicarts as illegal also because I don't see them on ebay. WTF? I realize the Vectrex games were released to public domain, but they weren't authorized for resale. There's a guy in Germany making and selling Vectrex multicarts all the time on ebay. Coleco went out of business 20 years ago and Ebay is super vigilant about protecting Coleco's rights? We've all seen the MAME with 5,000 arcade ROMs auctions that ebay never shuts down and you can buy arcade machine replacement roms no problem. Anybody know what the deal is with this or what I'm doing wrong when I list it that gets them shut down over and over?

Easiest retroconsole to code for?
Bill Brasky replied to Trooper's topic in Classic Console Discussion
One major problem with that is that neither system has much of an audience. The SMS wasn't very popular in the USA (though it was more so than the 7800), and the MSX was basically a no-show. But the biggest problem is that any game that you convert for SMS by using a TMS-9918 graphics mode won't run on a MegaDrive/Genesis with a Power Base Converter. This is why the F-16 card won't run on a PBC. It's not because it's the only 32K card, it's because it's one of the few SMS games that used a TMS-9918 graphics mode. However, a Mode 4 conversion shouldn't need too much more work, as long as you have the source code. Basically, the name table works exactly the same, you have to set up the palette registers, and you have to load 4 times as much pattern data, and since there's no color table, you have to convert your old pattern data to include the color. Also, sprite pattern data has to be loaded into the regular pattern table, and the sprite table layout is a little different. 1028768 I wasn't really expecting a lot of US SMS or MSX users. I wouldn't care if they were outside the USA, as long as they wanted to buy/play my game. I'd imagine most people still buying/collecting for SMS are hardcore SMS fans and use the real system. If I were porting a CV game to SMS I'd want to make those changes anyway to take advantage of the larger color pallette. -

If you program a game for CV you could easily port it to SMS and MSX to widen your audience. -
They might be used in certain stenographer machines.
