1. The Commodore 64 only has 16 colors. Sometimes it's not the number of colors, it's what you can do with them. 996968 Actually the CV has 16 as well. TI counts the 16th color(transparent) as a color. I think it's the same with C64. It's wasn't really a big limitation at the time (1982). Look at the specs of arcade games ported to CV: Cosmic Avenger(Universal), Defender(WMS), Frogger, Venture/Frenzy(Exidy). The arcade hardware then usually had very few colors(16) to work with as well.
2. I have a demo of Titan A.E.. I guess it's not really a "proto" but the game never came out.
3. I'm trying to reply to a PM and I keep getting an error message saying that the address field isn't filled or there's no such member. WTF? The person I'm trying to send it to is still a member. Does this just mean their message box is full or something?

5. It's wicked fast with the VR though... sometimes you forget your playing on the Jag.... and wonder (Wow.... if Martin can program this... what else could he have done!) 995065 Yeah, what freaked me out about that game was he programmed that in six months, by himself and that's his first and only Jaguar game. Fricken amazing!
6. Dactyl Joust, if that video was of in-game play. IS2 is very impressive.
7. I read the opposite. The OS can support HUGE HD's, waaay bigger than anything available at the time of the ADAM's release. The HD's are regular Western Digital drives. It can't go up to the 250-300 GB drives of today but still enough space that you could never fill it up. ecoleco sells/sold a RAMdisk upgrade that was interesting sounding. I don't think the commercially released ADAM games are buggy. There are some that were released to the public domain after coleco stopped supporting the adam and some of those were unfinished betas. ecoleco: "Hard Disk Drives contain a permanently installed disk that spins at very high speed to save and retrieve data and boot programs. The Adam's House Hard Drive may be installed under the top cover of the Memory Console. Hard Drives are very fast using Western Digital 70 Mili-second 3.5" drives and IDE 16 Bit Controller interface boards. The Slot #1 interface card provides Hard Disk Drive interfacing. Our optional Printer Interface card provides an auto-booting PROM Chip socket to set up the Hard Drive after power is applied, or you may quickly boot the hard drive using a tape or disk provided. The Hard Disk Drive is available in a capacities of 10, 20, 40, and 60 Megabyte. A wide variety of programs are provided in TDOS System format, and set-up boot files for EOS System Programs like SmartWriter, SmartBASIC, AdamCalc, etc. Space is divided equally on the Hard Disk for use with TDOS (the CP/M alternative system) and EOS (the standard format of the ADAM computer. Programs can be transferred into the Hard Drive using the included utility program, FILE MANAGER V3.1. After the Hard Drive is quickly up to speed and brought on line, a Main Menu Screen appears that allows the user to move into any area of the drive to run programs, boot programs, or simply save and retrieve files and documents. Very little time is needed to become familiar with the operation and use of our new Hard Disk Drive." I have a couple 5 1/4" disk drives that I believe are non-working though they can be used to convert them into new 3 1/2" drives. You need to hook the control board from the dd to a new floppy so it's recognized by the adam. Anyone interested?
8. Don't throw away your first CV. SOMEONE can fix it if you can't.
9. That's just the power supply board removed from the printer. He already has that. That's what ecoleco does with all those printers that don't sell. It might be OK to use the CV ps with the ADAM if you're just using it as a CV to play carts, but not if you're also powering two tape drives.
10. I wonder if it got yanked because of copyright isues. It looked cool. I wanted to try it. Of course, now that I have a working cd burner it's gone.
11. There's way to add a hd to an ADAM. I've never done it. Yes, you could put the entire CV and ADAM software library on an internal HD. I have a guys email who sells them like this. Coleco never actually sold HD's for the ADAM. Some 3rd party company made a plug-in board to add a hd.
12. ADAM Printer/Power Port (Colors of COLECO wires are indicated after voltage ratings) 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 Pin 1 = 12V BROWN Pin 2 = 12V RED Pin 3 = 5V ORANGE Pin 4 = -5V YELLOW Pin 5 = Ground GREEN Pins 6, 7, 8 = Serial Data Clock, Serial Data, Signal Ground? Pin 9 = No connection - 13 ======================= Colecovision 4 1 3 2 Pinout 1: +5V (white) 2: -5V (blue) 3: +12V (red) 4: GND (black) You could add a DB-9 connector to your CV PS, but then it won't connect to your CV. Just the plug shapes are different. You could remove the power supply board from your ADAM printer(without destroying it) and put it in a new case. To use the ADAM printer ps separately you'll need to cut the purple wire.
13. I remember seeing a Mr. Do! game for the DC several months ago. I think I saw it over at DCemulation but now it's not there. There was even CD case artwork for it you could print out. Does anyone know where I can find this and what it was called? I don't think it was called 'Mr. Do!'.
14. Well try the PS, the power switch and if you can, the video ram chips. It's one of those. If I could see a screenshot I could maybe pinpoint which of the video Ram chips is the problem. You could find out by replacing one at a time.
15. You must have to be drunk to enjoy it. It seems like it's the #1 game for bars.
16. These have reputation for frying themselves and I'm wondering if that's because they lack heat sinks on the gfx chip like there is in the CV.
17. Do you have a digital camera? Can you take a picture of the screen that way?
18. They're basically the same except different BIOS's and IIRC the SG-1000 actually has less memory and it's cart sizes are typically smaller. I don't think there are 32k sized SG-1000 games. I'm sure the memory addresses are different in the Sega. I don't think the SG-1k has any gfx edge over the CV or the MSX. They all use the same gfx chip. It's probably very possible to make an add-on for CV but SG-1k carts are impossible to find in the US and AFAIK are tough to find even in Japan. The RF difference isn't really a problem because most/all RF units usually have some kind of trimpot on them to calibrate them. You could recalibrate it to display on channel 3 instead of 13 easily. An SG-1k or MSX adapter would be cool IF you could find the carts to play on it easily. Top slot is the SG-1k There's a switch in the SG-1k slot, so apparently if there's a cart in that slot it switches into SG-1k mode. This board is 2/3 the size of the CV board, no expansion slot part. It also uses the 9918 TI gfx chip, not the 9928 like the CV, so composite out only, no s-video or component video. BTW, does anyone know what kind of PS these DINA's use? Mine didn't come with a ps.
19. Yeah, fiddle with the power switch and check to see if the pins where the ps connects are tarnished or dirty.
20. Yeah, well the thing you've got to understand is that they only manufacture the boards. They don't design them. Before you can get them to manufacture a board, you've got to have a design for them to manufacture. And while you can get small and medium board runs by using files directly from PCB CAD software, those are going to cost you $5-$20 a board (depending on size -- it was a bit over $40 for a run of four 2"x2" 7800 cart boards), the big runs (where the same board will cost $0.75 to $2 each) will need Gerber files. So basically, your first problem isn't finding a manufacturer, it's learning the basics of the industry and learning how to design PCBs. 992248 I already have a design. I just needed to know whether or not it has to be transfered into a Gerber file. How many is a "big run"?
21. SF II, Mortal Kombat and Tekken should all be replaced by Karate Champ. Wasn't this the game that really started the kung-fu fighting arcade game trend? After this game was popular they started filling arcades with fighting games. What about BattleZone or I Robot, the first use of 3D polygonal environments in games.
22. The Coleco H2H has nothing to do with Colecovision anymore than Barbie does to Intellivision.
23. Someone needs to archive ALL the CV and ADAM manuals and scans of ALL the CV controller keypad overlays for the regular sticks and the SA controllers on one site. Tommorows Heroes had a bunch but not all of them. Some CV games like Dam Busters, Illusions, Fortune Builder, Telly Turtle, Smurf Paint and Play, Gateway to Apshai require the manual to play.
