  1. I've got a problem with my Colecovision. The graphics are glitchy. For example, the letters on selection screens seem to be random, and the in-game graphics are garbled. Does the manual have any info about the problem i'm having? I'd really love to get mine working before Scott Huggins releases his port of the arcade game Spectar. 992769[/snapback] So it looks fine at the 'Colecovision presents' screen but glitches at the blue skill level screen? The manual shows different example screenshots of the "COLECOVISION presents" screen in variations of glitchyness. Depending on how it's garbled will tell you which video RAM chip to replace. It would help if you posted a screenshot. Of course, first thing is to always try a different power supply first. That fixes 90% or more of the problems with CV. Try a cart by Parker Bros or Imagic, ones that skip the built in Coleco BIOS. In Donkey Kong, are Kong, Mario and the barrels purple?
  2. Try it with a different CV power supply if you can. Sometimes one won't work with one PS but will work fine with another. I don't know why but that's been my experience. You can use a regular ATX PC power supply if you don't have access to a spare CV ps. Try cleaning or better yet replacing the power switch. It often causes weird problems. Don't worry about the RF modulator. If it was the problem (unlikely) you can easily bypass it for composite video output. I own a CV service manual with full schematics and troubleshooting flowcharts so I might be able to help pinpoint the problem.
  3. I never had an overheating problem with my non-modded Bally. I think as long as you keep it on a flat surface, not shag carpeting, it won't overheat.
  4. I'm assuming the games you saw were Super Donkey Kong and Donkey Kong Junior. The real ADAM versions are larger and have fancy title screens, intermissions and high score screens. The ADAM DK Jr has an extra level as well. The CV ports are stripped down to fit into 32k and have more than the original Coleco releases but less than the ADAM ones. I would think the disk version of Dragon's Lair did the same thing but probably not as frequently as the tape version. The stock ADAM has 64k to work with and Dragon's Lair is much larger than that so it had to be loaded in chunks. It can't hold the entire game in memory at once. Opcode has mentioned that he has developed a Mega-cart for CV that can hold 1000k instead of the previous limit of 32k. If you used one of these Megacarts you could fit the entire game on a cart.
  5. The MSX uses a different sound chip than the CV. I guess you could still the the MSX chip and add a separate TI sound chip but good luck finding those NOS in any kind of quanity.
  6. Why? I want to make some carts. I need pcbs for the carts. There, now you know. All I need to know are the names of some good companies where I can get cart PCB's made cheaply. What does divulging my plans to you have to do with their pricing?
  7. Thanks for the info. Any other good suppliers?
  8. RapeMaster: Alpha Turbo Edition Neverland Ranch: The Game Kobe Bryant Slam 'n' Jam 2006 Lifetime Channel Games Presents: Daddy Don't! No Means No: San Andreas Mario vs. Princess Toadstool
  9. All the CV games could be made to run on a Game Gear. The Game Gear has a custom SEGA chip that has the CV's TI sound and graphics on one chip, plus a Z-80. Just add a keypad or remove it from the game programs.
  10. Get 'Ten Pin Alley' for the Sega Saturn. It's one of my favorite games of all time. Very relaxing, laid back game. The Saturn version was tweaked to correct problems in the PS version and has been jam packed with hidden extras: a Vectrex mode, Babylon 5 mode, Cosmic Bowling mode, hidden characters, even the entire Bible is hidden on the disc. http://www.sega-saturn.com/saturn/software/reviews/tpa.htm
  11. What's are some good places to get new cart PCB's made? What are their minimum order sizes? Do I have to provide them with the PCB layout in one of those PCB design software formats or can I just give them a PCB I already have and tell them to copy it? What else do I need to ask them? No, the ones in the AtariAge store won't work for what I want.
  12. The CV is actually the 9928, isn't it? I wonder if that's causing you any pallette problems. I don't know what TI had in mind when they designed the chip but there's no mention of video or arcade game uses in the TI manual. Maybe it was never intended for games.
  13. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...AMESE%3AIT&rd=1 This is the LaserActive system of the future! The one elusive game system that every collector will want but not not be able to find. This is the only Nuon machine that will play ALL the games and demos. Iron soldier 3 will not play on all Nuon models, it will on this one. It has the most up to date version of the BIOS installed which corrected some audio sync problems. I have a backup copy of the BIOS on cd-r and will include it. I'm also including an early Nuon demo of the game DOOM that was used to demonstrate the Nuon dev kit at the CES and E3 shows, the game Ballistic, PAC MAN nuon, the game demo of Bombuzal, an Atari 800/C-64 jukebox songplayer program and the movie Bedazzled on DVD which is one of only about 3 movies that have Nuon features on them. It includes the remote control, a special Nuon gamepad controller, manual and the game Ballistic. Shipping is $20 in the continental USA. See my other auctions for more games, Jaguar CD, Jaguar. 7-day listing, Ends Dec-18-05 16:40:01 PST
  14. Radio Shack TV Scoreboard, a black and white Pong system with a light gun.
  15. I don't really consider these add-ons "adpaters" as they're just complete, working systems that simply rely on the CV for power and output the video through the CV instead of itself. You could make your own Intv "adapter". Just take a regular Intv unit and wire it up to the CV expansion port for power and send the video signals back through the exp port as well.
  16. Does anyone else get an uncomfortable twinge when they see these TV ads for, I think it's, 'Call of Duty'; with an announcer excitedly declaring this 'THE MOST REALISTIC COMBAT GAME EVER!!!" ? Yippee! I realize war video games have been around for decades and there's always a war somewhere but it seems like it's in really poor taste advertising war as entertainment right now.
  17. They did this on Jimmy Kimmel Live during the NBA playoffs between the Detroit Pistons and the Lakers. EVERYONE in LA assumed the Lakers would crush the Pistons but that didn't happen. They sent cousin Sal into a bar to turn off the sets during the game but they were getting beaten so badly no one cared.
  18. It seems like I've seen most all of the good ones and they're usually older pages that have been up for years and are no longer updated. I'm interested in general classic gaming sites or sites dedicated to a specific classic system. No NES/famicom.
  19. Has anyone here ever finished Missle Command 3D, the Virtual levels? I can get up to where all the robots attack at once but that's as far as I get. Is there another boss past that one and how does the game end?
  20. I'm programming the sequel to 'The Great American Game'. It's called 'Def Jam's Great American Game: San Andreas -Hyper Turbo Alpha Edition'. In fact here are some early screenshots(note the use of 4Play's decal mapping technique)
  21. Try Fortune Builder(with instructions) and Gateway to Apshai(with instructions), both lengthy, deep games. Also, Jumpman Junior, BC's Quest for tires 2, Galaxian, Defender, Moon Patrol(proto), Ladybug, Montezuma's Revenge, Sewer Sam, Up 'n' Down. Hopefully Opcode's Pac Man Collection will be released soon.
  22. He was asking for games from other consoles/computers to be ported to the CV, not arcade titles. Apparently no one understands the question.
  23. Yes and Yes. I own the Netlink version and I used to play it over the phone against my brother in a different city.
  24. I've never had any problems hooking up the 32X. I never understood how some people have such problems with it. There's not that much to it.
