  1. I've basically given up on trying to find a deal on a good condition, working 7800 console. I already have almost every 7800 game and I'm planning on selling them all off. I don't bid on ebay 7800 auctions that include a bunch of 2600 games I don't want or 7800 games I already have. I just want a bare console by itself and every fricken auction for a 7800 console blows up to ridiculous levels. No other mainstream, US released console sells for as much. Not the 2600, 5200, CV, Saturn, Jag, PSX, TG-16, NES, SNES, Genesis, 32X, VB, SMS or the N64. The 7800's I try to bid on always end up going for 2 to 4 times what these other consoles typically sell for. Who the hell are all these 7800 fans and where did they come from? It seems like 99% of the gamers you talk to have never heard of or seen a 7800. Where is this demand coming from? Are there any plan to make a Flashback system that is a 7800 reissue? That seems like that would be my only chance to find a cheaper 7800 console. Anyone interested in an extra set of controllers, PS and boxed 7800 games? :x :(

  2. The most recent system I own is a Dreamcast. I have other modern systems like Jaguar , Gen, Saturn, PS1 but I haven't hooked them up to a TV set in 2-3 years. I find myself now playing classic systems, usually in emulation, exclusively. There's so many games between A8, C64, TI99, NES, CV, Intv, MSX that I'll never run out of new games to play. The whole PS2/GC/Xbox generation never produced anything that made me want to play it except DOOM 3. I'd like to try GTA3 or SA.

  3. Is anyone currently working on Cloak and Dagger or a variation?  I would really like to see this one out there.  I currently have the arcade machine and the movie, but I cannot seem to rest until this is made for the 5200.

It's already made, kinda. Someone found a floppy disk with it on it. It's in the proto forum.

  4. Anyone here played the bootleg "Crazy Kong" ?  It runs in MAME. Retard-o sound effects. I actually played this in an arcade as a kid.

Yep - I was very familiar with that version... the local skating rink had Crazy Kong (and Hangly Man too...) for a long time.

I think Crazy Kong is a hacked DK to run on Scramble hardware.

  5. I still think it's funny how a lot of you call the pie level, "The 4th stage" :P

Aside from that.. that's it as far as I know. I'll have to try the C64 version :D  I'm sure there are probably other notable ports for other classic computers of the time.. hmmmmm :ponder:

It's the cement factory, not pies. There's two C-64 versions.

  6. The TI-99/4A version is also a great port and includes all four levels.

It looks good but has serious AI/playability issues that need tweaking. On the first screen Mario is too large in relation to all the other graphics. If you jump when there is a barrel on the girder above you, your head goes through the girder and touches it and you die. The hammer doesn't protect you on any level. If a barrel hits you when your hammer is in the up position, you die. If a barrel comes down on your head while you have the hammer you die. On the rivets screen, often the AI for the fireballs just makes them quickly pace back and forth on one side of the screen, which they never move from. If you try to pass them you will die so you end up just running out of time.

  7. Why no luck with Bomberman? We know who made it, they aren't impossible to contact, the game was near complete. Did no one ever pursue it or did they refuse to release anything about the game?

I pursued, they claimed they no longer had any of the code, but said even if they did they wouldn't release the rights....

I don't buy that. We know that Mike Mika, a known collector/enthusiast, worked on it and I doubt he would've allowed all copies of it to be erased.

  8. As he cannot personally reply, I thought I would provide a meager service and attempt to rectify certain innacuracies in your post with information direct from the source. However, no offense is intended.

Hopefully this won't offend anybody, but cest la vie, I suppose.

Whatever do you mean? He? He who? I never made any reference to any specific person or game. :?

    Doth protest too much, methinks.

  9. Pioneer Balloon(SNK) is basically the same game as Fantasy(SNK liscensed to Rock-Ola in USA). There is a unfinished prototype version of Fantasy on the TI-99 but it's insanely hard compared to the arcade, the difficulty is off the charts. I've played both on MAME, they work fine.
