Colecovision 2600 Expansion Module
Bill Brasky replied to DominiRican05's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I recall reading that the very few carts that don't play on the adapter work fine if the upper casing is removed or modified somehow. I think Texas Chainsaw Massacre was one of like 3 carts that had problems. no big deal. -
AKA "the Jaguar corner"

I've read that DOOM is, at least the JPN version. I think the US version could but the option is removed from the menu but you still can, maybe. Gungriffon 2 is for sure. Maybe Gungriffon 1 is also. Daytona USA CCE JPN version may be.

I bought a few from him. The artwork is often very small in relation to the t-shirt.

How are the PS and GBA versions? How do they stack up compared to the other versions?

I don't which one you tried but I found this info. Are you trying to make a composite video A/V mod? If so, just skip that crap and make it a component video mod. The Bally puts out Ry, By and y signals. If there all kinds of fuzz and interference it probably isn't grounded properly. 896193 Thanks Bill, I'll take a look. The mod looks simple enough for component output. Grounded properly?!?! Do you mean the Bally or the outlet? Regards, -Lee 896218 I mean there might be some weirdness with the a/v output jacks sharing a ground. I've had problems like that before when doing an A/V mod on a CV. If I plugged in the audio and video cables at the same time the picture would get fuzzy/interference. If I unplugged the cable from the audio out jack the fuzz would go away.

Something like this? Super Mario Bros 2 on CV/MSX hardware. Click on the screen with your mouse. Use the arrow keys, jump with the spacebar.

Any of you Colecovision Fans have one of these?

You can probably retune the RF modulator to channel 3. There are adjustment pots inside the CV RF modulator so I assume the DINA has something similar. -
MSX on your PSP! Here's how.
Bill Brasky replied to Jess Ragan's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Most probably don't know what an MSX is. -
Arcade Mario Bros. is probably available on the MSX, so porting to the CV is very doable.
-
Which original port? Zaxxon for the CV? Super Zaxxon is avaliable on the ADAM.

CV Super Expansion Module "reservation" list
Bill Brasky replied to opcode's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Yes. The CV was only around from 1982 to 84-ish(CRASH of 84). There was no development done after that point(not counting modern homebrews) so most of what you're seeing are first attempts at programming the system. The MSX was around for much longer and has waaay more games/software/homebrew stuff, had tons more developers big and small. Some CV games scroll fine, Nova Blast, Defender, Moon Patrol etc.. Games that scroll vertically don't seem to have any problems. It isn't that the CV can't scroll, it can only shift a limited amount of data at a time. If you have very detailed backgrounds and colorful graphics and try to scroll it, as in Zaxxon, it won't be as smooth. If you simplify the detail and backgrounds like in Defender or Nova Blast it'll scroll smoothly. I don't understand why everytime the CV comes up someone has to say "but it can't scroll" , yet they have no problem with the Atari 2600's shitty graphics and sound. Every system has it's limitations. -

There was much more game development done on the MSX, longer lifespan. -
Colecovision Tunnels & Trolls
Bill Brasky replied to cimerians's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I think there's more than that. I read that the actual game played kind of similar to those early AD&D or Wizardry games. You know, 3-D perspective, create your own characters etc. I'm positive it exists in some form, though it might be possible that the name changed once or twice, and that the more complete version was called somthing else. I forget, but I know I read a detailed review on it. I'll look for the link. Try Gateway to Apshai if you haven't already. 99 8-level dungeons with dozens of rooms on each level.... fun stuff. 876073 You may be thinking of 'Lord of the Dungeon' which is a different game but fits your description. -
preordering is for suckers.

Coleco Zaxxon cart is heavier than other carts
Bill Brasky replied to nintendo's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I think somebody claimed that early versions had a piece of metal shielding inside the cart. -

They copied the whole CV system and sold it as the Splicevision. -

Where are all the Colecovision programmers?
Bill Brasky replied to Time-Bandit's topic in ColecoVision Programming
yeah, I know it's more "popular". There were more 2600 users back then and there are now. It just seems liek it's the default system for homebrews. It wasn't 100x more popular but there are 100x more homebrews and hacks. -
Where are all the Colecovision programmers?
Bill Brasky replied to Time-Bandit's topic in ColecoVision Programming
I want to but have a lot to learn before I'd call myself a CV programmer. Beats me why all those people want to program for the 2600 instead. -
The Resident Evil 2 game is actually pretty neat. It never came out for the GBC or GBA AFAIK. There's no harm in picking it up off Ebay as a complete collection could probably be gotten for $30 or less. There were several games made like Metal Gear Solid that were never released.
