I recall reading that the very few carts that don't play on the adapter work fine if the upper casing is removed or modified somehow. I think Texas Chainsaw Massacre was one of like 3 carts that had problems. no big deal.

I tried searching through this Forum for Sega Saturn network/link games but couldn't find anything specific! So...Does anyone know which Sega Saturn games are able to be Linked/networked and played over 2 Saturn consoles? (and i'm not talking about net-play, but link-up games ONLY)
I heard something about Virtual-On Cybertroopers, but that it had to be a special version. Also, would the games have to be PAL to PAL or NTSC to NTSC, or can they be mixed?
I've read that DOOM is, at least the JPN version. I think the US version could but the option is removed from the menu but you still can, maybe. Gungriffon 2 is for sure. Maybe Gungriffon 1 is also. Daytona USA CCE JPN version may be.

I bought a few from him. The artwork is often very small in relation to the t-shirt.

How are the PS and GBA versions? How do they stack up compared to the other versions?

I don't which one you tried but I found this info. Are you trying to make a composite video A/V mod? If so, just skip that crap and make it a component video mod. The Bally puts out Ry, By and y signals. If there all kinds of fuzz and interference it probably isn't grounded properly.
Thanks Bill,
I'll take a look. The mod looks simple enough for component output.
Grounded properly?!?! Do you mean the Bally or the outlet?
Regards,
-Lee
I mean there might be some weirdness with the a/v output jacks sharing a ground. I've had problems like that before when doing an A/V mod on a CV. If I plugged in the audio and video cables at the same time the picture would get fuzzy/interference. If I unplugged the cable from the audio out jack the fuzz would go away.

I'd also like to see a sophisticated side-scrolling platformer on the CV. Something along the lines of Smurfs more advanced, meaning that instead of just merely avoiding bad guys, you actually get to retaliate like in Super Mario Bros. Although I know that the CV isn't known for it's sidescrolling, so I don't know how smooth such a game would turn out. Maybe a Smurfs 2?Something like this? Super Mario Bros 2 on CV/MSX hardware. Click on the screen with your mouse. Use the arrow keys, jump with the spacebar.

Arcade Mario Bros. is probably available on the MSX, so porting to the CV is very doable.

terrible design, ridiculously overpriced and outdated technology, weak library. A system only a Nintendo fanboy could love.

Yes. The CV was only around from 1982 to 84-ish(CRASH of 84). There was no development done after that point(not counting modern homebrews) so most of what you're seeing are first attempts at programming the system. The MSX was around for much longer and has waaay more games/software/homebrew stuff, had tons more developers big and small. Some CV games scroll fine, Nova Blast, Defender, Moon Patrol etc.. Games that scroll vertically don't seem to have any problems. It isn't that the CV can't scroll, it can only shift a limited amount of data at a time. If you have very detailed backgrounds and colorful graphics and try to scroll it, as in Zaxxon, it won't be as smooth. If you simplify the detail and backgrounds like in Defender or Nova Blast it'll scroll smoothly. I don't understand why everytime the CV comes up someone has to say "but it can't scroll"
, yet they have no problem with the Atari 2600's shitty graphics and sound. Every system has it's limitations. -
There was much more game development done on the MSX, longer lifespan.

It is only a title screen. It was never finished. I remember getting so excited when I saw that screen back in the dayI think there's more than that. I read that the actual game played kind of similar to those early AD&D or Wizardry games. You know, 3-D perspective, create your own characters etc. I'm positive it exists in some form, though it might be possible that the name changed once or twice, and that the more complete version was called somthing else. I forget, but I know I read a detailed review on it. I'll look for the link.
Try Gateway to Apshai if you haven't already. 99 8-level dungeons with dozens of rooms on each level.... fun stuff.
You may be thinking of 'Lord of the Dungeon' which is a different game but fits your description.

preordering is for suckers.

I don't get the Minter cult and I own a Jaguar.

I think somebody claimed that early versions had a piece of metal shielding inside the cart.

That cart sounds pretty neat actually. Those pirates never cease to amaze me. Although why'd they choose to pirate a colecovision cartridge is beyond my comprehension. It's kind of funny though.I'd guess it came from brazil. The sega master system was pretty popular there, and like 27 people actually bought them in north america. Maybe the Colecovision worked the same way to warrant acutally pirating something for it.
They copied the whole CV system and sold it as the Splicevision.
-
Splicevision cart?
-
yeah, I know it's more "popular". There were more 2600 users back then and there are now. It just seems liek it's the default system for homebrews. It wasn't 100x more popular but there are 100x more homebrews and hacks.
-
I want to but have a lot to learn before I'd call myself a CV programmer. Beats me why all those people want to program for the 2600 instead.

The Resident Evil 2 game is actually pretty neat. It never came out for the GBC or GBA AFAIK. There's no harm in picking it up off Ebay as a complete collection could probably be gotten for $30 or less. There were several games made like Metal Gear Solid that were never released.

ColecoVision launch titles...

That's what happened to Erik and Lyle Menendez.
