  1. Version doesn't matter really. I'm mainly curious as to the rendering technique used for the Laser Attack level.
  2. While we're at it with this Roklan stuff, does anyone know if the source code for GORF is out there?
  3. Fantastic! Thanks for sharing. I've been an Atari computer user since 1982, had a 2600 since I was 2 years old. So it amazes me that we are still getting gifted with so much new (and new old) stuff.
  4. OK - I received issue #143 today! The stamp from Deutsch Post was 22-12-20 (I can never get used that weird date format). So, a month and 8 days to arrive. I just want to confirm - it says my membership (number 312) expired 31-10-2019, but I did re-up for 2 years to cover the expired subscription, as well as a year into the future. I sent payment on the 22nd, so this was most likely printed with the old information. Hoping to get the next magazine and games disk soon!
  5. @Gunstar - can you also crosspost this (or reference this post) in the thread here This way candle can track the issue, and if it is a bug, work on a fix.
  6. I am not sure how version C works. However, the new Sophia2 (which allows changing resolutions on the fly) does in fact allow this option to be turned on, and off. Let me see if I can find the docs - it's probably buried a few hundred posts back. Search the document for " Bit 4 – HIRESBC: Hi-Res Bi-Color" Also of note, like the VBXE2, Sophia2 will also optionally allow for 16 luminances in ALL graphics modes, not just the GTIA modes. SOPHIA2en_1_2.pdf
  7. Border colour can always be set independent of background. The VBXE and Sophia allow for different colour text, such as red text on blue background. In BASIC, Graphics 0, location 710 deciman controls background, 712 controls border. 709 is the text. The stock OS for some odd reason has 709 default to 202. Since it only manages do do a luminance of the chosen background, we get super bright blue which looks white. However, VBXE and SOPHIA2 (when the feature is turned on), properly shows 202 as a light green.
  8. Yes - typical "risk vs reward" part of so many Llamasoft games.
  9. For good 80 columns, Y/C is a must - composite video just won't do. A couple things you can do to help. Either turn the colour all the way down, or depending on your cable, only run the luma signal.
  10. Holy shit bro. You win the record for longest AA necro-bump, coming in at almost 20 years. Fantastic!
  11. No no no. That version was a hack of the original: In-Store Demonstration Program.atr People need to stop spreading the hacked version, so we can properly preserve the original.
  12. Wow - our postal service has not gone private yet. I have no idea if that is a good thing or a bad thing, as these days, I have very little faith in government or private companies to do anything properly.
  13. I never came close to finishing Tempest 2000. I did however, manage to finish all 100 levels in Space Giraffe (2nd time trying, I even got through level 64 without losing a life). I really should go back and revisit this game.
  14. No mazz - welcome to the large part of the Atari crowd. If they had their way, we'd all still be on 16kB machines using 600 baud cassette tapes and a 5" black & white display, because "that what we had back in the day". This killed Atari in the 80s - not using > 48kB. It continues to kill advancements in software for the awesome new hardware we have access to these days (VBCE, et. all.)
  15. There is a commonality to so many of these threads that get taken off course. Popular thought is, an apple a day keeps them away.
  16. Sorry - was just having fun with this original (NSFW) - google image search it
  17. Jesus Christ - do we have a new alias for some jackso ^H^H ajck-ass on here making demands?
  18. Hey man - he's a manager. He doesn't need to have knowledge of the product or what you do. Managers just push people around and tell them what to do. Don't question the all knowing oracle - he has expensive display equipment, precisely NTSC configured you know!
  19. BTW - I'm wondering since I am old. Where can I take a class in this modern way of thinking? No accountability on users knowing how to use a product, a grand feeling of entitlement, a lack of manners, a demanding demeanor? I feel like I am missing out in the modern way of living and treating people.
  20. There's no accounting for stupid it would seem. You write half a page of documentation, people ask for more. You write 200 pages, people say it's too much, they can't comprehend. No attention span, no accountability. FJC - damn you for your shit documentation and hard to use software. You've exposed a major comprehension issue and I for one, don't know how to feel about it. I just know that you are to blame.
  21. I'm starting to think 2022 may be my year Me asking US postal service - "Have you seen any of my shit that has been knowingly mailed 5 months ago?" US Postal Service says
  22. Don't know how many times I have to repeat this. We "AA losers" called them out on this bad design decision longer ago than I care to remember (18 months, 24 months maybe)? There was a fake photo with fake gears and fake springs. I guess we know the fake plastic shaft was real. Can we be surprised though? The only thing Atari has given anyone in years is the shaft. Come on folks, these jokes write themselves at this point.
