  1. This is strange. Sounds like the microcontroller in the SIO2PC interface locked up. Are you using the latest firmware version? Maybe Steve knows more about this. BTW: Does the lockup also happen when you use Copy 2000 V2.41D? You can find the program in this ATR (filename is "COPY2000.COM"). so long, Hias No lockup with that copier. It screams with divisor 01. I put my benchmarks up here. I got: - 90KB SD/SS - 15.13 seconds = 5.947KB/sec - 180KB DD/SS - 22.67 seconds = 7.94KB.sec I will verify with Steve Tucker that I have the latest version of APE (I'm registered) and the latest firmware in the device. 2. http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?s...p;#entry1682851 It seems that THE Joe Decuir has found Atari Age! Wonder if he has the time for some qusetions / proper interviews? Stephen Anderson
  3. Welcome Joe! Care to stick around for a while and tell some stories about the early days at Atari? There's quite a few people here that are still reverse engineering the custom chips in the 8-bit Atari computers. There are new graphics modes and some amazing sounds coming from PoKey now, as well as 8-channel digi-music from GTIA. Great to see another Atari legend make it over here. Stephen Anderson
  4. Would be great if they turn up - I never got to see them when new. Stephen Anderson
  5. Hmm - do I smell a custom PoKey Station (ala the SidStation)? That would solve any tuning issues Stephen Anderson
  6. I will check this out tonight and report my findings. I can tell you that I get a consistent 110kbit transfer from my USB SIO2PC device when using the MyCopier disk copy program. Stephen Anderson No luck so far. Trying to load the patch at divisors 02 and 01 cause the SIO2PC device to "crash". Ape reports it as disconnected, and the Atari cannot communicate. I have to unplg & replug the USB cable to re-initialize the device. It's late here, I will test more tomorrow. Stephen Anderson
  7. How much more will be found? P.S. Glad to see you posting again Curt! Stephen Anderson
  8. What OS are you using that let's you use divisors above 08? I am using the APE Warp OS that came with my 32-in-1 OS. But it won't do above 3XSIO (divisor 08). I set it higher, the OS reverts to single speed SIO. The only thing I fond that let it run flat out (01 was the best I coud get - I have a 130XE which might need the SIO caps removed) was one single disk copy utility. Stephen Anderson

  10. That's great news! Certainly interested. Stephen Anderson
  11. Sounds cool, I will check this out. Stephen Anderson
  12. Very nice! Stephen Anderson
  13. Hey Stephen - I had no trouble going to the site just now. Maybe a temporary thing and you can/should try again? http://mikro.umpc.sk/us_order/ Hope it works for ya. Oops - what I meant to say was I cannot log into the forum (bottom of the page where you enter your username and password). It will not accept my password. When I hit the button to have them email it to me, I never get an email (nothing hits my spam filter either). Stephen Anderson
  14. Everybody will have the screen flicker until it's fixed. The 40 column display will fail if the OS doesn't have a system font in ROM pointed to by KEYDEF at $79. I don't really have room to build the system font into the executable, so some additional info on Warp OS would be useful in this respect. It sounds like you just have corruption of certain characters, though, so more investigation is needed here. The DOS 2.5 behaviour is definitely NOT intended: I'm aware that LW seems to be wiping out the RAMdisk contents, but you don't say whether or not you're running a RAM disk. I assume you are. This would certainly explain the Exit to DOS problem. Clearly the main buffer shouldn't be only 17K when there's extended RAM: that will also be fixed shortly. It looks like all the problems are centered around banked memory and 40/80 column switching, which is more or less as expected. There are lots of other things still broke, though. Hmm - I didn't notice it was wiping out the RAMdisk until you mentioned it. That would explain it hanging when trying to reload DUP.SYS. I removed the RAMDISK.COM handler, but I still only get 17919 bytes free when under DOS 2.5. I can try testing a bunch of other DOSes and will break out my stock PAL 130XE this weekend if you need additional information. Stephen Anderson
  15. I signed up and put in a preorder, but I cannot log into the site now, and my password does not get sent to me. I have nothing going to my spam folder - if it's being blocked it's by my ISP. Is anyone else having this issue? Stephen Anderson
  16. Very nice! Thanks for taking the time to consider an enclosure. So many great projects have this flaw. Stephen Anderson
  17. Couple of things - when using the APE Warp OS (part of Steve Tucker's 32-in-1 OS) swicthing to 40 column mode causes the font to get corrupted. 80 column works fine, but 40 column displays garbage for spaces and periods. I've also got the screen flicker after swapping modes a few times. I'm running a "Peterson" 320KB mod in a 130XE. Using DOS 2.5 I get 9 banks available with 17919 bytes free. When exiting to DOS it froze. It displayed a red screen with "Usage: LW [filelist]" (and a bunch more text). Pressing reset took me back to DOS. Not sure if this is intended behaviour. Sparta DOS X 4.42 gave me 4 banks available with a 21759 byte buffer. I am using default memory settings (i.e., no external config.sys). Exit to DOS works fine. *** EDIT *** In the above configuration, MEM yeilds Main:$106A,$106A Ext:$70C8,$70C8 Use:BANKED I will try additional Sparta tests later this weekend. The 40/80 column switch is very cool. I will definitely check out more of the features when I have some more time. Stephen Anderson
  18. Got mine too - they look great. Stephen Anderson
  19. Got mine in today! Also got the full set of ANALOGs on 2 DVD I have some reading to do this weekend. Stephen Anderson
  20. Sounds great - I would have never guessed sounds like this were possible with the GTIA. I remember a demo from the late 1980s. It turned the screen DMA off, had a dark green background color, and played the Beatle's song Yestaday in "stereo". The GTIA provided the alternate channel, but it was just a single "beep" tone. Nothing like this. Midnight Magic was really scratchy as well. Great work. Stephen Anderson
  21. Got my ANALOG set in today. Looks fantastic. I cannot wait to read these - GF is gone this weekend, so I have time Stephen Anderson
  22. Got mine in the mail today! Can't wait to assemble it. I'll try to take pictures during assembly. Stephen Anderson
  23. I thought it was an ST hard drive interface. yes it is, do a search in the ST forum for it, they are probably still taking pre-orders it all ties in to my plan to have all my classic computers ready and able to play games on a whim rather than my taking so much time to get it all set up that I lose interest by the time that it is. and I am talking about the stresses we all probably face of having not only the space to set it up but a proper monitor and the means by which we can easily get a wide selection of games running on it. for me the space near my PC is just too cluttered so that really cuts down on the number of games i can run. I cannot get an email reply from them - it says it has my email on file, but I cannot log in and cannot get my password sent. It's not hitting a spam filter (if it is, my ISP is blocking it before it hits my email). Stephen Anderson
  24. Hehe, thanks. That's just an export out of EAGLE, where the red is top copper and blue is bottom. All the grey and white will end up being silkscreen. Yeah - the color scheme is nice though. Reminded me of TRON. I'll make it my wallpaper at work It will give me something to stare at while I am spending half the day tomorrow writing documentation and filling out BS paperwork so I can release my code on my group's servers Stephen Anderson
  25. Definitely one, small chance of two depending on price. Stephen Anderson
